Yeah I have a 50 foot ethernet cable hooked up to my PS3. It's ugly, but it works hahaha

Think i might invest in a long cable for future downloads!

Are any of you guys on the game?

We had such a huge turn out this season that it looks like we are going to need more Stewarts! Anyone who knows for sure that they can be deciated to this series I would like you guys to be stewart for qualifying purposes because we will get overload and possibly jammed up. Any help is much appreciated thank you all'

My PST time slot allows me to qualify late night EST guys, and early bird GMT'ers. My Saturday schedule will allow me to qualify all time zones up to the race start. I can go to sleep very late Friday, and or wake up very early Saturday morning PST. I also suggest that Stewarts post there full dates & times of when their online so drivers can schedule around there times too. Drivers post the day & times that you guys perfer to qualify or use pm's to get best service!

JoeTruckV8: Qualifier Schedule

Thursday 10pm - 2am PST no PM (in my lounge)
Friday 7pm - 2am PST via PM (I'll be in my lounge but idle)
Saturday 9am - 4pm PST via PM (I'll be in my lounge but idle)

I can be in later tonight joe. If not, it will be Saturday afternoon.

When I'm in a series I've always been there so I could be. But I'm never on unless I'm qualifying. Usually range of free time 8-11pm GMT+8.

Phil I know your record and its a good one!
We'll gladly appreciate your honors as a stewart buddy'

TDZ is a crazed GT5 fanatic like myself, would you like to sign up for stewarting also? With your online driving levels you could possibly catch a lot of drivers online as well!?,

Had yet another test session - This was more or less a final comprehensive check for me. Car felt great as ever. Adjusted transmission, and ran a mini race of 13 laps - Tires were around 75-80% left with me driving not quite as gentle as I should have.

Think I'll do my qualifying the day of the race.

I see. I would first go by reducing Aero as much as you dare on the back. Only then would I mess with the suspension. The less Aero you use, the faster you'll go on the straights. Always keep the front maxed out though. Also try an equal damper, like 9/9 (Also used 9/9 on my car, still deciding between 9/9 and 8/9). I dunno how your lap looks but if you want to break your current time, try and be more aggressive with how close you get to curbs.

The most I'll let out in the rear for aero is -5 only to loosen the car up a bit if needed, otherwise fulldownforce is absolutely always faster.

Btw, talking about curbs, what's the rule on the chicane-like high curbing at the second to last turn? 'Cause you can really fly jump over the curb on the right.

Also, aother question: are you withholding qualifying times until right before the race?

I'll probably be doing my qualifying on Friday night.

Before 2.08 I would have agreed. Now - not so much. I'd be interested why you think full down-force in the rear is faster. Testing on this track with lower downforce has given me a car with higher top speed, and better rotation.

It may be better rotation on entry and slightly faster top speed but it's not worth losing the grid grip mid-corner, especially around Tokyo, where it's all about mid-corner.

I did testing of my own with aero, with full downforce I'm at a 1:39.2xx, with -5 the best I can do is 1:39.7xx.

I'm going to qualify in the Lexus for this race. Need to test more on the other's.

Interesting, I don't think I've noticed any difference mid-corner with my RX-7 - but I also haven't driven full downforce in quite a long while. I may try it again but I doubt it's going to do anything for me.

Everyone that's qualified so far has their times up. Please check OP.

I'm still undecided on aero. Before the patches with the exception of maybe Daytona or some other ovalish course, I think full aero was the way to go. Haven't done enough testing to decide whether that's the case now.

In that sense, GT5 is/was kind of lacking in the aero simulation.

I should've checked before I asked, but I could've sworn nothing was there when I checked for time a few hours ago. Anyway, that answers my question. And full aero's definitely the way to go, just try it. And you, ugabugaz, when you try it I'm confident you'll go faster, if not you're simply not pushing enough mid-corner. Like that long left hander, third or fourth to last turn, you should keep above 100mph throughout it.

Not too sure which corner you're referring to...If you can be bothered, use the video below to tell me which one it is..

I'm guessing it's either the one at 0:52 or 1:17. In the case of 0:52 I enter at approximately 102-104 while for the 1:17 I never drop below 100 (enter from far right, tap brakes mid-corner or just let off for a second and go full throttlte after that)

No it's the loooong left starting around 1:16 in that video.

Turn 10 of 13.

1:16? So that's the 1:17 turn. Yup I don't think I go below 100MPH there.

Thanks man. 👍
Oh and if lemme ask you guys, how do you take turn 4? high speed left I just get a lot of push. The long left I can't seem to take fast either...

See my video above, Which corner is it? If it's the one at 0:46, I go far right on entry and just stab the brakes for a second and then turn. I used to just make myself try and go flat out but that just doesn't work, at least for me.

I just tested the IS350 - With 35/42 downforce, scored a 39.254 on my 2nd attempt out of 2 attempts, 3rd lap. Try it with low downforce Wardez 👍 I did tweak the suspension slightly as well. Also car had chassis reinforcement installed - dunno if that makes a difference.

I'll have to try it out with less downforce but I'd be surprised if I got significantly faster.

I was running the Garayai for a bit and only managed a high 40 till I realized I was on stock downforce. After that I got 39.6. And stock df for the front's only a few clicks less. It has to be more of an effect.

Oh and phil, a tip for T4 is to try and turn in earlier to almost clip the small curbing on the inside left to use as the first apex, you should find it to be a much better line if you're using a more traditional turn in. If you do it early enough it'll almost be a blind corner.

Sinlander: ill qualify you tonight, ill be on from10pm till rooster crows!

Wardez: that curb you are talking about is legal for the race.

Ugabugz: ill give you downforce settng a try in my final practice 3 tonight'

Yeah, I know that curb is legal, but how much of it is legal?

All of it,. If we don't use it it will be a traffic jam at that section.

Sinlander, I'm online now if you want to get your qualifier in tonight?

Me, veloci, sinlader, and tnt are in a room now. If anyone wants to join feel free?

From 4pm GMT I'll be online to qualify people. Will be on a good 3-4h at least

I'll be online at 5pm eastern time tomorrow (Friday). I'll be online for a while, but have a couple races to run, so I will only be available on and off. But look for me if you need to qualify.

coming from open wheeler's I've spent the better part of 10 years avoiding them at all cost's, its quite difficult to wrap my head around trying to "violate" them even in touring cars, and when I tested earlier today every time I went for that kerb it would punt me out the track like Steven Gostkowski!

I decided to put in a couple more laps before I check in since I just got back from work. Tried the 35/42 downforce balance ugabugaz suggested and I got down to 39 flat, but then I went back to full downforce and tried Vagabond's tune here:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6024249#post6024249

And now my pb is 1:38.524. I do like how 35/42 loosens the car up a bit but my style's much more in line with the way the car feels at full df I suppose. And I only got a 3mph advantage at the end of the straight anyway so I don't think it's worth it.

Wow that is one damn stiff and agressive setup. Didn't think it'd work.

It was made for Deep Forest, which is why, but the stiffness isn't so much of a thing as is the balance between the front and rear, notice the rear is softer, going even softer may give some better play. And then you still have lots of room to play around with the LSD.
