How come we cant select neutral (gear*) in any of the GT series?

I dont know why they would now allow you to do this since it is a "simulator"

*Technically neutral isnt a gear, rather an absence of one.

In what situation would you have a need for neutral?
Not necessarily a need for it. I'm assuming that the OP wants it to be a feature because GT is marketed as the real driving simulator.

That being said, there are many factors within the game that imply otherwise.

Just a thought, how about putting the subject of your discussion in the title of the thread?

The way I go into neutral with a DS3 is to accelerate, let off the gas, and hold down your e-brake button (i set mine to o) until your selected gear goes from a dark black to a light grey/gray..

Its pretty useful when competing in a NASCAR race whilst under caution.

Dont know where to post this so il post it here.

Wax free vanilla on neogaf has found parts of the track editor in the new update.

"course maker is coming in december with gt6 spec II ps3 / ps4, traces of it were in update 1.10/11

so no need to downgrade by choosing the ps4 option to sample the delights of course maker"

Irrelevant thread, not true (that's the Nurburgring template IIRC) and yes, it has already been posted. Choose a better thread next time...

Just hold the E Brake for a few seconds like in any other GT title. In GT6 it takes a bit more time though, so try not to do it during a turn.

well if you put the car in reverse it acts as a neutral gear. however, you actually have to reverse to put it in reverse, so i guess it doesn't really work.

i saying to park up and chat to people
If you have ever drove a manual in real life(or were educated about manuals), you would know that if your e-brake was broken you would put your gear in reverse and it will not go anywhere. Nuetral allows you to freely role.

Nascar the game has a clutch and it is quite useful! Also, in the gas saving challgenge it can be useful.

Sorry then didnt find anything with the serch function.
It never had a thread of its own (that I knew of) at any time, mostly because people noticed that it wasn't something new pretty fast. Not really your fault, but it could have gone into a more relevant thread.

Back on thread, I merely would like Neutral just for the fun of it. Hell, If you can do it in NFS why not GT?

I know you can hold O and get the desired effect, but having a Neutral gear will be more realistic.

I think it would be quite useful for drifting. In real life it can be a good way to kick the back out instead of kicking the handbrake. Dip the clutch quickly while on the gas, revs lift, re-engage the gear and the 'boost' generated from the engine's inertia can be very useful. I know it is available on the wheel, but it's a feature I would use on my DS3 if it existed.
