More importantly, the thread was brought back for no apparent reason.Silverzonewhy did you bring back a year old thread?
Well, jokes go in the Comedy Corner. Bringing up year old threads like this isn't a joke. It's annoying, pointless and childish.Quick_NickIt was just a joke! I didn't think you would get so pissy over nothing.
Hilarious! Man I would kill my mother for even putting a smudge on my car (when I get my car that isT100I already have one accident under my belt. It was my moms fault though, she was following me and there was a back up on the exit ramp to the highway that was blind so I had to put my foot through the foor to stop and my mom wasn't so quick, lol
You're very lucky Quick_Nick.Sagehowever, this has sort of taken a new life, so I won't reprimand you for it.
Been there, done that, and I'll admit that it's a royal pain in the ass, especially since all three times that that happened to me, it was always on one section of freeway with a very, very steep uphill grade which means you have to spin the engine even faster just to get the car moving, and slipping the clutch a great deal. Two of those times, I cooked the clutch, so during the last mile or so of the jam the car was shuddering the whole time. Still, that's all easily made up for being able to drive a stick 99% of the time I'm a control freak, and it gives me peace of mind to know that I have control over the connection between the engine and the tires. In the few times I've driven an auto (only during driver's training sessions), I was really uncomfortable, because it felt like I was driving the cars with a remote control.Jimmy Enslashayespecially driving for long distances on jammed up freeways.
Well, my dad drove alone by the time he was 14 (he could get away with that, being the mayor's son), so that might be a part of it. I think he's just a lot more relaxed about it though, while my mom over-thinks every aspect of driving. Also, why is it that Dad's always seem like the best drivers in the world?I think my Dad is an awesome driver.
My mum overthinks, but also speeds. It's a horrible combination some days, but some days she can be a great driver. Other days she's rough with the car. My Dad's calm, but seeing that personality-wise I'm a very calm person, especially in tough situations, he can't out-do me there. Some guy on a round-a-bout sped off instead of waiting for me, and he was probably millimetres off my car. My Dad had a heart-attack, where as I just raised my eyebrow and kept going.SageI think he's just a lot more relaxed about it though, while my mom over-thinks every aspect of driving.
Fine by me.Sageit felt like I was driving the cars with a remote control.
Try livnig here. Every day on the way down to Sydney, we hit a traffic jam, and on the way back. My Dad loves manuals, and he would rather that 100 times more than an Auto, but it would be absolute hell driving to work for him. Plus, it's a 1 hour drive without traffic, so it can get long in traffic jams. Auto is the way to go if you drive that way and back to work every day.Sageespecially since all three times that that happened to me
Well almost every driving lesson I do is 2 hours, but still good nonetheless.MdnIteTo any experienced driver, is 2 hours of total driving time good to go onto a multilaned busy road?
Oh, mine's the same she'll gladly fly at 80-85 mph (which roughly equals 129-137 kph) on the freeway, which really unnerves me.Jimmy EnslashayMy mum overthinks, but also speeds.
Trust me, my dad knows the feeling. My Dad loves manuals, and he would rather that 100 times more than an Auto, but it would be absolute hell driving to work for him. Plus, it's a 1 hour drive without traffic, so it can get long in traffic jams. Auto is the way to go if you drive that way and back to work every day.
It wouldn't unnerve me with my Dad, my Mum on the other hand.SageOh, mine's the same she'll gladly fly at 80-85 mph (which roughly equals 129-137 kph) on the freeway, which really unnerves me.
Yeah, I've heard of that one. I feel for him even more, since he's driving a manual.Sagehe had to travel on the 405 freeway, which is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the busiest freeway in the world (and having the longest traffic jams).
Why are statistics so over the top in LA? Lol. I mean the crime and murder rate, etc. It does contain Hollywood.SageFreeways aren't very kindly to motorists here... in the past 20 (or 30?) years, California has expanded its freeway network a mere 2.5%, but traffic is up 232%, and you can guess how awful that is.
