So who here on GTP hates him the most? Opinions on his sheer popularity? I think the picture explains it all. I don't want this thread to be biased from the start, but damn is he just another product of the media industry. I mean, teenage girls, and I mean, MOST teenage girls think his music is better than The Beatles because of his looks. I hate people  The dude's voice isn't that bad but even then he sounds like a small girl.

He makes a bad name out of himself. Just another emo ****ing up our children.

Aww, too soon?

I had no idea who he was till I went to Toronto last August. We were sitting in the hotel room and turned on whatever the Canadian version of MTV is. Some little white kid came on, got a phone call from Usher, and then proceeded to try and bang some 15 year old. I don't know if it was the fact that we were probably still drunk or if it was legitimately funny, but I think I laughed for 10 minutes straight over the weirdness of it all.

Artist like Bieber and Taylor Swift just shows me that people just love generic, craptastic music sung by whiny teenagers. More power to them though, if they can make money off of it, go for it.

When you hate on artist like this you are only making them more popular and making them more money. And when his whiny obnoxious fans play his music loud... turn your stereo up and drown it out. Its easy to out dub whiny pop/hip-hop or what ever corporate spoon fed sub-genre you want to call it. You listen to your music and stay loyal to what you listen to and turn your head and wave your bird at them going *tsk* *tsk* it will just roll over.

Do I hate him? No reason too.. Hes an annoying young puppet for a corporation taking advantage the minds of annoying young puppets. Let the circus animals play in there pen and move on. Keep blasting the real music and everything will be alright.

Real music never dies... Trends do.

Well I can't say that I downright hate him or anything. I guess I more hate what he represents. The whole generic teenage pop/RnB industry annoys me. Never been a fan of the catchy, generic songs that are quickly forgotten in a couple months when the new batch of catchy, generic songs come out. Props to him on his success though. Might just be another generic artist who slowly fades away but he's young so he might stay popular a bit longer. If he stays popular then in a couple years we'll probably see his, "edgy, bad boy side" when he releases a rap album or something. :yuck:

It's things like this that make me glad I'm in my 20's and have hardly any exposure to this kind of stuff. I barely know who "Justin Bieber" is, thank God.

I hate him, like, HATE him, with a passion, but recently, i've decided to not hate him anymore, but it certainly doesn't mean i'm going to like him. I'm not hating him right now because everyone, especially the person I like, is in love with him, like, they follow him like a religion as well as on twitter :yuck:

I've not listened to his music, luckily.

And I don't even see what's so special about his looks either, he's not that good looking. What ever, I never understand girls these days.

I can't bring myself to find out enough about him to be able to form an opinion. My suspicions are that he's a pretty-boy talent-vacuum, but I really don't want to find out. My "things I utterly despise" list is already quite lengthy.

This.

I get slightly annoyed when I hear his songs on the radio, but then I go to my room and listen to my own music.

I fear I switched channel or station when he was on, so no real analysis on the subject, although switching is a clear sign.
Even worse sign: my partner did not ask me to buy Justin Bieber, were this request did come for Tokio Hotel (which I actually do not zap away when in German) and the Jonas Brothers.

Same here, don't know whether that's just because you've had longer to compile the list, or just because you become less tolerant of fools and their wares as you get older.

My "things I utterly despise" list is considerably lengthier than the "things i rather like" one.

Dan's starting to sound a bit like this

may he rest in peace

I'm with you on this one though, is it wrong to generally not like other people...and their kids...and their taste in music and movies...and their political opinions....

I'm turning into a right miserable fecker as I get older!

;)

I just saw the Today Tonight thing of that, I was interested to see how it went today but obviously it didnt go at all....

EDIT: Here is an idea of what did go down, he is pretty damn good.

I was in a hotel room doing other stuff when he came on the television, so did not zap to an other channel this time:

Commercial approach: 9/10 (I actually like things with low scores here)
Contents: 1/10 (not always needed)
Musical contribution: 4/10 (there was an OK rapper in the song)
Laugh-ability factor: 9/10

Really made me think of the overproduced 80ies things from Germany: Sandra, Milli Vanilli, ... or Kylie on Locomotion.

There is a public for this stuff, before they even played Paris Hilton, yes the famous singer (also very high score on Laugh-ability factor).
