After reviewing Special Stage, i thought there would be no other good drifting game, until i came across Kaido Battle which was probably better in every way except the music and the courses.

Graphics: 8/10, the car models are accurately modeled and the courses offer a degree of realistic graphics. Everything looks nice but its not GT3 quality (Which prolly is impossible for any new game except GT4). The game looks suspiciously similar to Shotoku Zero (Tokyo Xtreme Racer) maybe because their made by the Same company. The Backfire from the cars even look the same.

Gameplay: 9/10, Drifting here takes skill along with the right parts. Like GT3 or real life u have to Counter steer one way or another except for 4WD cars. You gain money through beating courses by racking up points by sliding around corners (Note that sliding, meaning u don't actually have to do a proper drift). You also battle against rivals at night like in Initial D tv series. You then get Sponsors who pay u to race and all that good stuff. Its lots of fun here though it gets very repitive and frustrating at times. Its no fun until u get u're 2nd car.

Sound: 5/10, You get u're Usual sound of cars and a crappy soundtrack except the opening them which totally rocks.

Courses: 6/10, I think there are 4 courses total but i have yet to unlock them all. Their really not that exciting.

Overall: 8/10 (Not an Average) The game is just fun but doesn't offer any exciting courses. The sound could also use some work. If u can overlook these issues then you would find u'reself a really fun Drifting game.

P.S i forgot bout the car section

Cars: 9/10, Kaido Battle has its usual selection of cars including the Evos, the Scooby, the Silvia, and the rest of the Ricers. Theres also a range of European and American cars, a first for Genki. Though i still prefer the Ricers. Some important cars are missing though including the RX-7 FD (MY FAV CAR IS GONE!!!) and i haven't seen any MKVI supras or R34 GTRS either. The FD was even in the opening.

basically it sounds like another tokyo extreme racer, i mean zero took long enuf to beat 100%, i played TXR0 for about 2 months and took a long break cuz it jsut gets boring and old and mainly repeatative, but this sponsor and stuff thing sound alot better, hopefully ill get my hands on it soon enuf

i just signed up to this forum to tell you guys this....

kaido battle is an AWESOME game!! i have the Japanese version, and it absoloutely rocks! all the menus and necessary stuffs are in english in the Japanese version too, so its quite easy to use...

i believe i've finished the game (if there's more, i'd like to know), so here's a brief rundown:::

u CAN get the FD. u can also get the 350Z, new skyline and HEAPS of other cars... kinda sux that theres no rx8 tho :( oh well... ultimate car: straight line = Impreza 22B at full tune :) my current fave car is the RE amemiya (spelling?) FD (the green one in the into movie) - its not as fast in the straight as my 22B, but it is SOOOO good in the corners....

there are 5 tracks, which i will list below (in order)::

1. i dont know this tracks english name, and cant read the characters.

2. Mt. Akina (famous as per InitialD)

3. Iro 1 (i dont know the full name for iro, but its called just 'iro' in initial d arcade/special stage)

4. again, i dont know how to say this name.. i call it '6' as the middle character is the character for 6... this is the snowy mountain..

5. Iro 2 (if u go downhill on iro 1, u will see a road to the left when u are in the finishing straight - the starting points for iro 1 and iro 2 are the same for uphill)... similar to iro 1, except the corners are alot sharper...

The final car is called the 'emotional king' (you will see that some are called trickers - which u need special times to find them, and some are slashers - which let u go to the next "season" when u beat them).... but u can still continue playing after u finish this car... to beat ALL the cars... he is driving a DeTomaso Pantera

to get the green fd, u must beat all cars... this also gives u (for beating all the cars) the fujitsubo impreza (bug eyed), fujitsubo evo7 (there are two of them - both fujitsubo - one yellow, one grey), A-RF fd and Mine's Evo7. Other cars that u will pick up on the way are the starion 4wd rally (sux), Ridox supra, NOB s15 (the red one in the intro movie), MCR GTR (R34 - awesome car - but my 22B is faster :P), Fujitsubo Evo7 (yellow - is faster than the grey), Mine's GTR (R34), Cockpit Tatebayashi S15, Sard IS200, Sard MR-S, Sard Vitz?, A-RF MX-5, Bomex DC5 and the 5Zigen DC5.

Cars to unlock are: VW Golf, De Tomaso Pantera, Toyota VM180 (concept new MR2), Toyota MarkII, Toyota Chaser, Toyota Supra (newer model - older model is originally available), Suzuki Cuppacino, Subaru GDB-STi, Subaru Legacy Blitzen, Nissan R32 GTR, Nissan R34 GTR, Nissan Skyline (the new one also known as the Infinity G35), Nissan Fairlady Z (aka 350Z), Mitsubishi EVO7, Mazda RX7 FD, Honda S2000, Honda NSX-R (newer model) and the Daihatsu Copen.

The money and racing system has been listed previously, so i wont go thru that, but when i say 'beat all the cars', i mean u have to beat all the opponents at night time on all mountains... for cash, once u beat the game, the cash multiplies by like 10 or 100? u would normally only see up to stage 5, but there is also a 'special stage' which is dayum hard... i'm not sure if u've gotta beat these all also to get all the extra cars i listed, as i had already finished all these before i beat all the cars..

u can also get sponsors... these are VERY important, as u can get better parts than u can normally buy... but check ur power ratings after u add parts, sometimes higher levels make the power go down on some cars... some sponsors u can easily see how to get, where it says 'tie-up-sponsor'.... but also go to the parking lots of the mountains during the day time, and there is sometimes more sponsors parked there :)

hope u all enjoyed my first post here, and what is possibly my longest post ever on any forum. :odd:

i found this game a ***** to finish. I dont find the menu that well designed, Shotoko battle 01 (tokyo xtreme racer 3) has a better menu system and its load times are better. I feel the gameplay aint that great either, its hard and sluggish and feels like a burden to play.

I felt the drift battles got a bit tiring tho.. id prob rate TXR3 better but i like togue racing better over wangan, but then again in Kaido u cant put on every little single bit of exterior mod like TXR3 (01)..

I know a lot of people liked/loved this game, but Kaido is my least favorite drift title. Hear me out before you try to flame...

I love drifting games as much as the next drifting fan, but I have a habit of playing these games in 3rd person view. Now, the gameplay and control are decent in this game (not too hard if you're willing to put up with the learning curve). But here's where it fails (especially for gamers that play 3rd camera like me) IMO:

Using the camera in 3rd person is absolutely unplayable. In all of the other drifting/driving games out there, when you set the camera to out-of-car mode, it follows the car - when the car turns, it turns on an axis centerline to the front wheels. With Kaido, when you use the 3rd camera, that axis is centerline to the rear wheels. It makes for akward car movement for my gaming tastes. I tried for a couple days to get used to it - but ultimately I put it down in favor of Togue 3 and Battle Gear 2.

With that said, the graphics are top notch and game modes are excellent in design - in the end, the game just wasn't for me. But that's only me, I'm not saying that you won't like it - I just wanted to voice an opinion.

btw mt. Akina isnt real but the pass is it is accually called Mount. Haruna and they DO have Irohazaka (seen in Initial D Stage 3 the movie) but it is a 1 way road so i think noone has the balls to go Uphill. But im pretty sure they have Akagi and Happoghara?

i dunno bout the name of the mountain... in chinese the name in japan is the same as the name here.... so umm yeah... anyway.. yeah, ive been there.. i know its real :D

Anyone know who does the opening theme? The artists name and the name of the song? I have been trying to find this and it is impossible information to get. If someone got the soundtrack with their game please give me this info.

Thanks

hmmmm i just finish the kaido battle, acctually i think u guys might got a question in mind : is the game REAL like GT3 ? for me i feel that the real is where the sway effect, and unstable car reaction ( stock car ) and yeah its REAL like the REAL car, from there u will know how much important u must get your car more stable ( not like GT3, u wont feel that feeling that REAL )

And about the UNREAL place i think is the parts, one parts and u can install to every car hahaha.

the bad place is this game doesnt suppot the right analog stick ( i use the right analog stick for gas and brake in GT3 to drift ) and that is pain for my finger is for long play because the game support the press sensetive function, no hard gas no full accelerate haha.

btw the course is not that really unchallenge, the 1st and 2nd Irohazaka is fun for both up and down hill, i have so much fun drifting around every hair pin in that course, and its sure fun, and the replay also looks kool if u drift well.

P/S : i love to tell my comment but someone out there might think my english is too bad. buy yeah, i am a car crazy fanz too, and sure i want to share the fun and find someone to talk with :)
