I wonder if this should be called The 2014 Driver transfer discussion/speculation thread but I'm no mod, I'm unaware of the rules regarding those threads and maybe it is indeed too early for that, so I'lll just post it as a Kobayashi-related thread.

Anyway, IF Ferrari change their driver lineup for 2014 ... then here's a guy I'd like to see racing a red car next year. This is an official picture posted by Ferrari in their own site.

I think reality itself would fracture if you put Kobayashi and Alonso on the same team, at the same time.

But that's just me.

Kobayashi in a competitive car would be a sight to see but I don't see it happening.

That's mainly just gimmick, right? He drives a Ferrari in another racing event, can't remember what.

Ferrari won't drop either Massa or Alonso I don't think so Ferrari is unlikely.

I do however see him back in F1 next year. Where I am not sure. Possibly Lotus if either Kimi moves or Grosjean gets the boot.

If these stirrings about Webber leaving end up being true, I'd love to see him in that Red Bull.

It's a long shot, I know. Most likely at the moment they'd get Ricciardo, but it'd be good to see Kob back in F1 with a competitive car.

I think Kimi was said to be negotiating with Red Bull. If thats true I see him going there. If Grosjean gets the boot from Lotus as well as he is rumoured to be on his last chance after crashing again at Monaco I think Lotus is Kobayashi's best chance.

Thanks. That was really annoying me.

And Kimi in a Red Bull... Just wrong.

Thing is, he is with AF Corse... essentially a Ferrari works team correct? They got 4 or 5 458's on the Le Mans grid and Giancarlo Fisichella (another F1 refugee) in there team.

If Kimi does go to RB I can definitely see Kamui at Lotus or even replacing Grosjean if he continues to make errors.

Or they could ditch them both and hire someone who isn't a liability.

I like Kamui but I don't see how he would make more sense than Massa to be honest.
I think Massa should just retire from F1. Monaco mistakes are just too big to not thinking about it. Brake issue is total BS. Ferrari had to defend Massa on the media, but they know the truth. He made the same mistake twice. Destroying the car and risking his neck twice. This driver is done with F1. Must retire or something bad could happen in the future. Do not provoke Lady Luck.

I'm looking forward to Banzai Kobaiashi want to see what he can do on battle. Banzai for you Sebastian. Watch out! :sly:

Almost a de facto works team. They have some level of autonomy, but they also clearly have support from and a close relationship with Ferrari.

What garbage. Even Ant Davidson caught the fact something broke on the left front before Ferrari made their statement. Please stop spouting blatantly false garbage. 👎

If Kobayashi joined Ferrari next year that would officially be greater than sex.

Antony Davidson better thinking how to avoid collisions at Le Mans this year. I see Massa locking the front left tyre before the crash. I've heard Pat Fry saying "we don't know yet what happen'd but something went wrong". That's the typical PR BS when they try to defend Massa from another stupid mistake. They did it in the past already.

Massa is still in Ferrari only because FIAT has a high interest in brazilian market. That's the truth. Sorry but you really don't have a clue about how things works with Fiat.

Sorry, but it wasn't Ant's fault. It was the Am class 458.

And locking up tends to happen a lot without ABS, so it's not all Massa's fault. Review then release.

You did not really suggest that Ferrari should drop Alonso for Kobayashi, did you?

I support Alonso retiring! :sly:

Anyway... I think Ferrari have a line up that works for them at the moment, but if they want another shot at the constructors then having a driver like Alonso is going to hold them back. His desire for dominance in the team will always mean that Ferrari will be forced to accept having one driver in a weaker position, which isn't good if Alonso's car breaks down with 5 laps left.

Honestly I'd rather Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren et al gave up on this whole Formula 1 thing and converted to giving Le Mans a decent crack, but maybe that's just me...

My guess is that if it meant something we wouldn't have heard about it until well after, like a secret tire test.:p

It's not too early for a driver transfer thread. This story just doesn't have enough sbstance to justify one. I wouldn't go reading anything into Kobayashi testing an old Ferrari - if Ferrari drop Massa, then they'll probably take someone like Jules Bianchi or Nico Hulkenberg.

Yes I was referring to the second one since HKS claimed he made the same mistake twice when clearly he didn't.

I would like to know where you read that it's Grosjean last chance ?
