Try and get a chassis that is no more than 2-3 years old, as kart chassis are pretty beat up after that many years. You can find a simple 50 cc engine for relativly cheap as well.

Awesome! I just contacted a local store, LA, that sells the Coyote Kid Kart, and told them I want to purchase one.

Jeeezz my pops was reading the paper and a 15 year old boy was killed when he was on his go kart when it was hit by a truck.:(

This is so cool to see all of this interest in karting. I grew up at kart tracks accross Canada. My father was one of the first racers in Saskatchewan back in the 50's. It is a great sport and compared to other forms of racing, a lot cheaper. I have raced stock cars, snowmobiles, and a litte dirt bike and have found karting to be the best bang for your buck. In choosing a kart, you must deside if you like a stiff or a flexing frame. American karts seem to be on the stiff side, but that has been changeing. I like the Arrow kart. The Tony is real good to and the CRG just got a supplier out here. I plan on testing it to see if it suits my driving style.
 
That sounds like a lot of fun. Do you own many karts?
 
Just one older one. I am trading it in for a new one this year. Just have to wait untill all the snow is gone so that I can test drive a few. FYI, we run mostly Yamaha engines out here. The Rotax class just started up last year and is alot of fun. Our club is IKF sanctioned. Check out our web site at southsaskkartclub.tripod.com
 
I have run mostly local tracks. We do have a fun race on our local oval. it is 1/3 mile and steeply banked. You don't have to lift at all, and the shiffters can beat the times of some of the "taxis" that run there. They think we are mad to go so fast and be so low to the ground. They just don't know how to have fun.
 
Get a larger two year old cart, lower the rev limiter and put it on low gearing. It'll still be quick, but not fast enough to get severe whiplash (like I once got: spin at 65 mph into tyres).
 
The faster the better. I'm 41 and not ready to slow down yet.
 
Maybe, but would you want your 8 year old son to be doing 70mph?

Well I am anyways. Those kid karts do about 30. Not 70.
 
Had a good laugh. My dad started me when I was 8. Raced my first race when I was 9. We spent the first year learning the skills to be safe, then fast. My step son drove his first time at 9. He seems more into baseball right now , but gets in every chance he gets. Maybe later on he will want to race, that's up to him. FYI the IKF has changed the rules this year for kids, they can start to race as young as 6. Our club has decided not to have a class for this age as we fell that is to young, but we will allow 3 of them on the track at the same time with strict rules. They are not allowed to pass in the turns and the karts run a restricture plate. We feel that they can learn the proper way to drive and by the time they are 8, they will be safe and competetive drivers.
 
I just went karting at Sears Point. Really awesome. Plus it was Ferrari Days there so that was a HUGE extra bonus.

FYI. On the June 4th,5th weekend,we are hosting the Big Brothers GP.Kartes from Alberta,Saskatchewan and Manitoba will be here. All the gate money gose toward Bid Brothers. We are also having a car show on the grounds hosted by the Majestic car club.(local hot rod club). So if you are in or near Regina on that week end drop on by.
 
Well since I am on the west coast I don't think I'll be able to make it. Sounds fun though.

Do you guys get Parilla Leopards in your Rotax Max class or Juniors 2 Cycle Rotax?

Only rotax at this time. There seems to be some interest in the junior rotax this year, time will tell. Most of the karters are using the Yamaha as it seems to be cheap to run. A lot of other clubs have gone to a TAG only rule , that means a lot of Yammy's for sale at a low cost.
It seems to me that we are the only two that seem to be active racers in the karting world at this time.There got to be some more karters out there, lets here from you. I will be posting the results from our events just for the fun of it. As soon as I get some pics to post, I will also do that.:)
 
The Leopard is just soooo simple and easy. I really love it. It also is damn fast so that's a good thing too!:trouble:
