Is it expensive? I've heard of some engines that you don't really own, more like a lease.

Well really is anything in karting cheap? Yes it was expensive but worth it 100%. I think the engines you are talking about are the pro ICC spec engines on the cart stars of tomorrow race series. Fully built and blue-printed I'm sure they are around 4,000.

This is the Pavesi ICC engine.

Compared to stock cars, it's cheaper.Dose anyone run the Yammy at your club?

On Sunday the 18th, we are having our opening day with the rookie camp. All firstime racers must take a in class coures, then it's out to the track for some driving tips.

I don't belong to a club yet. Though I have been to about 7 or 8 tracks, I'm still deciding which one to join. And yes at just about every track I've been to there have been guys with the Yamahas.

mmmm just Karting you think? Well in the Rain :rain: it was absolutley mad :burnout:...

Anyone been in the spray before? Phew does that back end slip about :rscared:.....
I went karting in the rain just a few days ago, I was trying to drift but more often than not I'd either spin out or counter-steer excessively and regain control. I dont own my own kart unfortunately, so I dont get to go to often. I'm not bad in the dry though, and can pull-off pretty decent times for the little experience I've had. Id say alot of it has to do iwth my experience in games like GT3 and maybe even Mario Kart, (Well, maybe just a little) The whole time I was racing I was continuely thinking of what different lines I could take and where I could get through a corner without breaking. It was great fun.

Welcome to the world of karting. Rental karts are a good place to start.Once you deside to get your own kart, you will have a pretty good idea on what to expect. We also race in the rain, with a rain tire, you can drift to a point, but a little to much and you just loop it.A very fine line. But nothing beats the dry track.Love those g forces.

So far there have only been two instances where I really spun out of control. Once at a track in Dixon I was coming into a big right hander after the straight that kind of starts not that big and then has a big kink in it. I was carrying way to much speed into it and i just kind of lost it. I knew it right away so instead of fighting it I just went along for the ride. My engine does not stall very often(awesome!!!) but I did shut it down to make sure everything was ok. The other was somewhere I cannot remember but it was kind of the same situation.

Back when my kart had the super slick no grip tires on it I got really used to drifting it so now on the grippy tires I have good control over it.

I met a lad who fitted a 450cc four-stroker Husqvana motorcross engine in a chassis. The torque makes it much better than a 2 stroke and he could keep up with a Formula BMW car at Thruxton (where I was at the time).

He had a lot of downforce on it for a kart, too.

Welcome to da club PEOPLE!!!!!...I race oval karts, or to you idiots, karts that race in circles, i also race Rotax Max series karts on the roadcourse that hit 100mph at the end of the straitaway. They have 28hp and an open powervalve that kiks in bout 60mph. What i run is a 13hp ANIMAL engine by Briggs and Stratton, i race in a class called Jr. ANimal at Westhampton speedway, and other tracks around the east coast of america, and i can get it up to 90mph on a circular quarter mile. I have 5 yearz of racing experience and have been around racing my whole lif. I have attached some photos below of my kart....itz hot ****. I LOVE RACING, and i encourage anyone who wants to combine fun and speed to race karts. its a fun and sorta cheap sport with massive competition. If anyone would like to rent or buy a kart on the east coast of the U.S., preferably, New York and Long Island, Email me @xMik3daRaC3rx@hotmail.com or jus IM me on AIM.....i have an unlimited amount of experience and knowledge. ILL RACE ANYONE WHO THINKS THEY CAN BEAT ME!!!! lol....lat3r...im out -wun-1-one-1st-

Looks like you should really think about getting a neck collar to use with your helmet. It helps with neck strain and will help prevent some whiplash. Or have you gotten one since your wreck?

dood, i wouldnt be allowed to race without a neck collar, gloves, a helmet, anda fire suit. SO, the answer is yes, i have all the equipment. And out off all the years that i have raced, 5 years, ive only gotten into 1 accident that was serious, so.. thanx for the concern...m1k3
