Not that I know of.

EA seem to be more in Sony's pocket than Microsoft's atm. The PC and PS2 EA games are compatible online whilst the XBox titles rarely are. There have been some notable Xbox and PS2 releases from EA where Xbox Live support was dropped too. Sony also basically owns SquareEnix after the bailout they gave them, whom EA has publishing rights too. I'd be surprised if Sony couldn't negogitate the license be shared considering the desire for all parties to include the cars.

Perhaps they're being subtlely hinted at, perhaps we're dreaming. Months to go.

EA's rights to Porsche and Ferrari goes out in 6 months. I think that's why PD pushed Gt4 to a Nov release.

I like when we have thread's that mirror each other's content exactly. Makes the forums more confusing.

Outrun 2 is the intellectual property of Sega Amusement vision, yet the only cars available to drive in it are Ferraris. Where does this mystical EA license fit in to all of this? This game was also developed without the xbox in mind (thought the arcade hardware was loosely based off the xbox specs), so Microsoft's deep pockets really don't have much to do with it either. It just seems odd that every other game is starting to feature Ferraris and Porsches while the one game every enthusiast wishes they were in gets shafted. I still would like to see some solid proof that EA indeed has an exclusivity agreement with Ferrari and Porsche, since it always pops up in forums.

By the way, if I were the guys at black box studios (makers of NFS) I would not let such a precious license rot while developping barf-inducing "the fast and the furious" derivatives.

The exclusive license for Ferrari will not be free until mid-late 2005, thats what I keep hearing. I don't know where you heared it was up in 6 months.

This is where Microsoft comes in, they paid EA to use the Ferrari license so EA are still making money from it. Someone said how SEGA got to use Ferrari's in outrun 2 here a while back but I can't remeber.

Forget my last reply to this, I've seen the same thing too now which is quite interesting. It still doesn't confirm anything, but it at least makes it realistically possible for them to appear.

clever move. cash rolls in on both fronts: corporate giant desperate for racing fans, and obnoxious focus group-determined youth who think they're into cars.

I believe antde2001 said at the Internation Car Show in NY, Ferrari said EA's rights to Ferrari go out in Nov, but I also heard EA didn't want to share the rights with PD. Why is that? They dont like PD or something? Anyway, I really hope to see Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, and possibly Mclaren in gt4. If those all were to make it, KY's goal for all cars to be in gt4 might just be completed. Sony should buy the rights to Lambo, Porsche and Ferrari, and laugh in EA's face :D

Hang on... haven't you already said this?

Nothing that KY has said will not appear has appeared, things he said don't seem possible have. KY has said, Ferrari will not appear in GT4, but it might appear in future GT's.

What about the ring? KY said it was impossible to add, but alas it is in GT4... no one will know for sure til the automobile masterpiece is released in november.

Even the biggest sceptic must admit it's weird to have a GT4 promo movie feature 2 brands that "won't be in the game" n'est pas?

Yea, I'm questioning why there was a vid of ferrari and porsche in gt4p. Ferrari and porsche have to be in now, they have shown us the footage of them testing the cars. I really want to race the Porsche Moby Dick on the nurb, great car.

Just give me a Ferrari 360 modena spyder with real engine sounds.
Please! Pd

so we're getting Ferrari and Lambo?

I don't get it, this thread rambles on and on...... without any real answers - only speculation. :odd:

thx

Well everything on these forums are only speculations, cause (I think) no one here knows exacty what GT4 will be like.... untill PD confirms it ofcourse

What if PD used Ferrari to boost sales of the HDD? Maybe offering the token Jewell as a online download to HDD, shortly after game launch.;)

I'm not sayiny they won't be in, just that theres is little chance of it happening. As for t, KY never said it was impossible, he made a comment when asked if LeMans would appear in GT4, he said something like it's not possible to include a track as long as LeMans and have it at the quality we want. He never mentioned the ring not being in, he obviousely found a way to include long tracks.

What's your honest opinion live? Like on ferrari and porsche being in gt4. I think some things are adding up man, EA's rights to ferrari go out in late Nov, gt4 will be released in Nov, there is footage ferraris and porsches being tested by the PD team on the gt4 demo. I seriously doubt this is a teaser for gt5, has to be for gt4. What do you think?

Honestley, I wouldn't be too suprised either way now, I'd love it to be true. Things are starting to point to that, but it's one of the few things that KY has said won't be in. I'm torn between the two views, the part of me that loves GT wants me to say they will be in, but my sense is telling me to wait and see.

I see what you are saying live. I'm kind of like, if ferrari and porsche are in, I wont be too much surprised, due to all the stuff we have seen, but if they aren't in, I'll of course disappointed but not all surprised they didn't make it because I'm still questioning why KY said there wouldn't be ferrari or porsche in. Now I'll be surprised if lambo wasn't in, I'm expecting lambo to be in. But if everything goes accordingly, gt4 could possibly be goty. Having 500+ including lambo, ferrari, and porsche would not only make gt4 a must have, but a number 1 contender for goty. Man, just think about online racing with some super cars, F50 vs Enzo on the Capri track

^^^ I feel the same way... we won't know until it's released (or close to it). Seeing as they are my 2 favorite manufactuers it'd be awesome to have them in GT... but until the EA license craziness is settled once and for all, i guess we'll have to be patient.

it's very creative and strategic marketing on PD's part though (despite it being annoying to us the consumers)... look how much hype the speculation is causing from some short vids from the PAL Prologue.

I know for a fact that Ferrari will not re-sign with EA, they have already said they WANT to appear in GT and since EA is not goign to share the liicense with Sony and Ferrari wan't a better representation than the NFS games which are good for fun, but having your car in GT helps with sales, and thats proven. Look at TVR sales in Japan before GT1 and after.

I guess it gives something to talk about....

Great point live. Gt4 will be the hottest racer this gen, and ferrari and porsche knows this. If porsche is in, and ruf is in, will ruf cars be under porsche? I believe Nismo cars were under nissan in gt3.

ok guys humour me...... I have downloaded countless videos of GT4 and do not remember seeing a Ferrari in any of them...... Would someone be so kind as to give a link to the video?

thx

The vid where the ferraris and porsches are seen are on the new gt4p pal game for europe. I'm sure some one is working hard to get the videos online, I know arwin is.
