All because of what I defined what a real fan is
Yep, and if you want to know how stupid that is, consider someone saying to you, 'You can't be a real fan, you were only 1 when Gran Turismo came out'

Would you rather, GT 7 edition:

Would you rather know what cars could appear in the legends dealership and predict the cycle and wait for what you want?

or, not know what could come up at all and just be surprised when new cars arrive in the dealership?

Great game, BUT, the payout gives you definate the feel they want you to spend real money on cars. It is not about impatience or wanting everything at day one, but you need to win every singleplayer race, you can not enjoy racing, as you're forced to win to earn money. Anything else than P1 us useless. So, online racing ain't no solution as well, cause I won't win there. So if you ain't that fast you might have serious trouble earning money . The missions and circuit experience are way to less earning to go for gold on every sector, useless as well. The idea though is ok. And this is so much unbalanced atm. The used cars are way to expensive, and car tuning as well. So if you just want to paint some liverys or so, you need to be a top racer and jobless to spend a lot of time. I got a real life and just want to spend some fun hours in GT, not my life. BTW I am doing SimRacing since 1998, so I do posses quite a bit of experience.......

Can confirm due to licensing it's not in official store, fm6 and 7 still work fine although I didn't play much online recently

Yeah I've been playing it this evening. Some of the car models are sub par but the Evo VI I drove hot laps in felt a lot more like an actual Evo than the one in GT7 which I didn't expect. I'll have to keep an eye on fm8 if GT7 doesn't get fixed.

Well that is estimated if there is a fixed cycle, it might just be random as well though.

Good to know either way.
Indeed, we won't know for certain until one reappears but the earliest solid data we have is cars that were in there on Feb 24th, when reviewers and people who got it early started playing, haven't appeared again since and we're now March 19th. So it seems like a pretty fair assumption that they're not random, at least not currently.

I've estimated there to be 61 legendary cars, it may be a bit more or less, but I think my guesses are pretty solid based on their current choices. They've so far had 20 unique cars in 23 days, so it's going to be a little over 61 days before a car reappears if they are on a fixed cycle.

I'd prefer a mechanic based around in-game days and activities like the old games, not real time.

If you weren't playing the game launch week and/or didn't have enough credits to buy the Alfa 155 Touring Car it's most likely going to be circa May 8th before it appears again.

Forza is the biggest culprit as Microsoft needs people renewing that Game Pass sub every month. Sure you don't have MTX, but you do have slow credit income and absurd Auction House prices should you miss out on that elusive AE86 in the week you couldn't play. You think 20 million in GT7 is difficult, well try doing it in FH5 just with races and no flipping in the AH.
What is this? FH5 does not have slow credit income. I can quite literally make money in FH5 through no other means than buying perks on car mastery trees. Or doing Horizon Arcade, amassing a few hundred Forzathon Points, purchase several wheelspins or super wheelspins, and have the game throw cars and credits at me. Easily.

I haven't even gotten to the accolades that give you cars and money, or the races, or the weekly events, or simply running a lap against a ghost. Or selling your tunes or liveries if one is talented enough. I can easily make 20M in FH5 before making 10 in GT7.

Whatever narrative it is you're trying to spin with this, I'd suggest actually playing the game first. Because this picture you're painting is not at all what FH5 is. And that's another game I can throw several legitimate gripes at, but this is not one of them.

They don't want you grindin' that's true enough, because they want you payin'
Honestly after thinking about it, I think you're 100% right. The economy being trash, it's plausible that it isn't 100% to drive MTX sales because the economy of GT6 and Sport were like this at the start, and eventually improved. But the fact that we now have deadlines to buy sought after expensive cars, I can see no other explanation other than a deliberate attempt to encourage people to buy microtransactions.

The thing is, the MTX's are so egregiously priced that I highly doubt many people will ever use them. I won't just out of principle. And I did buy a decent amount of them in GT Sport so instead of them getting some money from me, they'll get zero. I can't be alone in that either.

If they're going after whales, they could've got whales without making the economy terrible or the sneaky invitation thing so this whole game is severely misguided and miscalculated. It's a shame because it could've been the best GT ever with just a few changes. Oh well. Looks like GT Sport and GT PSP will continue being my favorites.

Here everyone I made this for you…

He did play it, hilariously. I remember him pulling the same Game Pass conspiracy **** circa FH4's time of life too. Except now it's incredibly hard to pull off this stuff to a Forza hating audience on this board as easily as before considering the mask off behavior that Kaz and PD have shown off since GT Sport, really, but especially now.

I get your points....but..why is this game not available on pc...and x box.? Its because Sony bankroll the devolpment and they hence dictate how it should bring the biggest profit from their investment....low credits for race involment means more income from add on purchases...Sony reviewed the race payments and decided they were too high..Kaz and co were then forced to react to employers that were not happy with the current situation of users grinding large credits from continual play of certain races..no pay ...no play senario.
I just don't buy it, at all. Kaz is not innocent; he sat on the board of Sony, lol. Nobody is telling him what to do with this game and if Sony does say anything it's "hurry the hell up you slow bastard" lol

Then I don't get it. FH5 has more than enough to gripe at without having to make things up from thin air. :odd:

And you are not even mentioning a critical point here.

There are quite a few time-exclusive mechanics in the game, that try to urge you to spend your money because you don't know when, if ever, you will see it again:
The brand invitations and the Hagerty collection.
I really wanted the Porsche 911 GT1 as it is one of my favorite cars in the game, so I had to go and grind from about 1.000.000 up to 3.000.000 up to be able to buy it or use, or I might not get the chance to ever get it again or at the very least for a very long time.
That will be even worse if someone buys the game one or two months later. Making cars temporarily unnavailable is a weird decision. It was questionable for the UCD, but bearable as the idea was for those used cars to be cheap (which is not the case with GT7 either). Now, not only the cars rotate, without knowing whenever they will be back, they have limited stock, and they are quite a lot more expensive.

I made a suggestion before, that all cars should be available to buy at all times from the "Brand Central", with 0km, while the UCD could have, on rotation, some of those cars at a time, for a substantial discount (the more kms/miles the car had, the cheaper it would be compared to a new one).
If I want to swap an engine into a car, I don't need the car to be brand new, a used, cheap one will do. There are races that require a certain car that you will never touch again, the UCD with their cheap cars would be there for that.

They could keep the Brighton Antiques, but with permanent cars, not on rotation. The whole exclusivity thing makes no sense, as people would only buy one of those cars either way (two max, if they have customization) due to their price. It's not like people will buy 10 Ferrari 250 GTO just for the sake of it.

Other than that, increase the payouts of events, even if just by 10/20%.
Improve the broken ticket system, give us proper chances of earning actual good prizes. Get rid of those exclusive parts from tickets, just allow people to unlock those parts (for purchase in the tuning shop) via certain challenges, completing a certain level of licenses or whatever.
Parts we win from roulettes should just be like any other (maybe make them generic, and not for a specific car).Make engine swaps available somewhere else, it's fine being able to get some for free in the roulette, but don't keep them exclusive to that.

Add more events as well.
If they have some sort of difficulty with creating events, then just allow for community made offline races/challenges/championships. I'm sure the community would come up with cool ideas, which would give the game so much more replay value.

Then I don't get it. FH5 has more than enough to gripe at without having to make things up from thin air. :odd:
I don't either. But I know he's blocked me for a while, and has a reticence to explaining his points any further other then 'Forza bad', especially when players of Forza from the board (or even others like Scaff) directly challenge him on his buckwild points that have no basis in reality.

The thing is, the MTX's are so egregiously priced that I highly doubt many people will ever use them. I won't just out of principle. And I did buy a decent amount of them in GT Sport so instead of them getting some money from me, they'll get zero. I can't be alone in that either.

You'd be surprised. I've already seen a handful of comments here of people saying they bought the $20 one.

I'd never buy them either but there are a lot of groups of people who will.

  • Young children who don't yet understand the value of money and just ask their parents to buy them, who oblige once or twice.
  • The same young children whose parents foolishly let them buy things themselves
  • Adults with plenty of money who don't care, it's an easy alternative for them. Like rich people and parking fines, that's just how much it costs to park there to them. AKA the whales.
  • Adults who don't have plenty of money but who are psychologically hit by FOMO worse than us, and just cannot resist.
  • Adults who just think "It's only $5, just a cup of coffee right, why not?". Or even "Hell I just got paid today, that Merc is nice, I'll just drop the $20 for it". They think that several times, it all adds up.

As I've said before, make no mistake in thinking PD just slapped all these mechanics together at a whim, and priced the MTs at a whim. They didn't. We know how these companies work in this regard, they put a LOT of time and research into what will work and what won't. Why isn't there a 1M credit MT? Why not a 20M one? Because they've worked out that the prices they've got now will work best. Same with the FOMO elements. They've decided on what is just the right level very carefully.

Will many people buy a $200, 20M one? No. Will they buy a $20 one 10 times over the course of a few years? Yes.

EDIT: Like this guy, for instance:

Ha ha agreed...they tell him to hurry up...get it out even if its not ready because....they bankroll it.

When Take 2 Interactive went after OpenIV for GTA V, a review bombing on Steam followed attended by this petition. https://www.change.org/p/rockstar-games-save-openiv

Conclusively, Take 2 retracted its cease and desist request/order against Developer Alexander Blade with the only condition to discontinue the Liberty City Project and he continued his work until this day.

Since I deem Kazunori/PD to be more kind to fans, and step one is done on Metacritics, why don‘t we start our own?

Why didn't Sony ask Guerilla to greatly reduce the amount of shards collected in Horizon and sell shards as MTs?

Why didn't Sony ask Bluepoint to greatly reduce the amount of souls collected in Demon's Souls and sell souls as MTs?

Why didn't Sony ask Insomniac to greatly reduce the amount of bolts collected in Ratchet And Clank and sell bolts as MTs?

I could go on, but you get the point.

I do not know any of those answers as i do not know any of those titles you mention.
I was talking about GT7.....a game Sony bankroll heavily.....to the point of they have control of the final product.

Sony bankroll those games in the exact same manner, they're the publisher of them all. Guerilla and Insomniac are wholly owned by Sony just like PD are.

They didn't take control and force MTs into those games, why do you think they did it with GT7?

I mean, the petition should be for him to step down . . .

It's nowhere near 30 hours or 20 hours track time. I finished the cafe in about 6 to 7 hours tops. That includes going back and golding the licences I got bronze or silver on first play through and re doing a few races to get 1st that I monged on the first run.

The next 3 licence levels maybe 2 hours if I'm being generous. The missions maybe 8 hours being generous again. Circuit experience I'm not counting as it's exactly the same as GT Sport so, been there, done that.

I'm happy for you if you love the game and are satisfied with what you got for your money. I've enjoyed the game too, it's great fun, I just wish there was more of it.

I'm also happy to wait and have more content added over the coming months and years. But in the meantime I want the ability to use the custom race feature to play the race styles I want to. To do that I need cars and the credits to mod them to suit what is going to be fun for me. As it stands I'd blow a million plus paying for paint chips just to get the liveries I want, then millions more to get the cars. I'm fine to grind a month or 2 to get there, but the economy as it stands it will take years.

The game was advertised to lead us to believe we could do all the things most of us are whinging about. Technically you can. If you open your wallet, or grind for a stupid amount of time. Even if you did every race in the game once before repeating one you would be required to replay every bit of content 10 or more times to get a grid of any of the high end cars. For ONE series. I enjoyed the first play through, probably the 2nd and 3rd. After that I want something a bit different.

This **** is to be expected on a f2p title, not a full price game from a AAA studio.
The first time the term monged has been used here? 😂 brought a smile to my face 😂😅

Even games without MTX nerf progress, albeit for different reasons. Forza is the biggest culprit as Microsoft needs people renewing that Game Pass sub every month. Oh sweet summer child.

You know.. you can buy Forza Horizon 5?

Heh.

Let's suppose someone disagreed with you, and decided that a "real fan" of Gran Turismo is someone who supports it no matter what, and that you are not a real fan and "deserve to be criticized" for not doing so (and let's be clear, you said the people "deserve to be criticized", not the points they're making).

Now you have two groups of people who each think they are the "real fan" and the other group should be criticized.

How do you think that discussion would play out, with each group thinking they have the moral high ground and can insult and abuse the other group?

I can tell you, it'll just be two walls of idiots hurling abuse at each other, and a very busy moderation staff trying to clear it up - including bans for people who don't think they're doing anything wrong. That **** is poisonous, and kills communities.

Now I invite you to muse on the precise meaning of "toxic"...

Does it really apply to someone who is pointing out you're pulling a "no true Scotsman" fallacy? Or is it more appropriate to someone who is starting the situation I describe above by drawing out the line on what a "real fan" is or isn't?

Nowadays we usually refer to people that will not accept criticism or that there is any flaw to their game of choice a "warrior" (like a console warrior). Like those guys that will only praise one console and only hate the other; it's really funny when they flip flop to the other console.

It's like that guy "TheCrapGamer" who was always up Microsoft's butt and then Phil Spencer responded to him negatively on twitter and then "TheCrapGamer" went on about how he is now "Team Blue" and has been up Sony's butt ever since.

Kazunori Yamauchi Responds to Gran Turismo 7 Fan Outrage

Following one of the most difficult days in the 25-year history of Gran Turismo, series founder Kazunori Yamauchi has released a statement to fans regarding the future of Gran Turismo 7 — just two weeks into the title’s life...
Mr Yamauchi san. This is a start to come out and tell us all about the problems, but the decals are gone from all my car liveries and after all the updates it's still no bloody good. Is this going to be rectified? Are we to be compensated in any way? waiting for your reply.

I don't buy that Sony is responsible for the MTX/economy for a second. God of War, Bloodborne, Horizon 1+2, Spiderman, Spiderman Miles Morales, Days Gone, Shadow of the Colossus remake are all huge first-party games in Sony's stable just like GT, and those games have zero micro-transactions. Just checked PSN on the ones I haven't played and the only thing for sale is DLC and digital comics. Horizon FW and Spiderman Morales are very recent games too so it's not just a trend in their old first-party titles.

As much as I hate defending Sony, it appears they actively discourage MTX's as they don't even have the suite of cosmetics almost every other game has for sale.

Same thing is true of the always-online single-player titles; I don't see this in any of the other first-party Sony games I own...

This is 100% Kaz and PD and people need to direct their ire at the actual source of the problem and stop covering for them. By claiming Sony is forcing this upon them it shifts both blame and ire away from PD, and they are the one's that deserve both if we ever want to see these practices rolled back. If anyone can show me some actual proof to the contrary I'll eat my words, but I've yet to see anything other than conjecture that this is the fault of Sony.
well imo you should.

here's the last sony investor presentation which happened earlier this year, they were very clear in defining that they're going full force into GAAS, claiming that they will have launched more than ...10(!) live service games in the next few years.

just jump to minute 7:00 and hear it yourself from the horse's mouth ;)

I don't have to buy any of the colors used in this paint job to get a copy do I?

I would hate to have to buy $100,000 credits to afford the paint.

Sony/PD will loose more money with the MTX-scam, than they would loose without it. Believe me.

The disaster is perfect now. I refunded my version and got 100€ back. And i NEVER would have bought ingame-credits for 100€. So they lost money. This will apply to other people to.
