The best driving sims aren't on the PS3, they reside on the PC and 360.

After my launch PS3 broke I bought a 360 to join my PC.

This is the heart of the problem for Sony and PD, their market are finding alternatives.

I want to play driving sims, not have blind faith in a title that has still not shown itself to be superior to everything else on the market in all but the graphical department.

Hence why I asked the question that you quoted. However, that does not mean there are not other good driving games on PS3. There just aren't any to the same scale, quality, and scope of GT5.

As for the Xbox 360, it only has the Forza series that is somewhat equivalent in scope.

So, YOU represent the market eh? Wow.

Sure, some people sold up after getting fed up of waiting and bought an Xbox 360 to play Forza. Far fewer people moved over to solely play PC-based racers. Chances are, a lot of those people will suffer some form of remorse when GT5 does finally launch and they no longer have the ability to play it. A lot of those will end up sourcing another PS3.

I fail to see what "GT5 still not showing itself to be superior to everything else on the market" has to do with anything. The fact is, you bought an Xbox 360 just because it had/has Forza out on the shelf. Had GT5 been out, I'm sure you may have got your PS3 repaired instead.

Reading what you put there, it just sounds to me like you are justifying that decision to yourself. Sad really. I wonder if the same remorse will surface in the form of you convincing yourself that "GT5 is a load of crap" when it finally launches? Either that or you'll cave in like others and get another PS3 to play it. After all, you want to play driving sims, right? Or, is this really "console fanboyism" in disguise? :rolleyes:

I've been following Gran Turismo since the very first screenshots came out of Japan a decade back, but the market is very different today.

For all you, I or anyone else knows GT5 may not improve upon titles that have already been on the market for the past 6 months, specifically Forza 3, and we may still be another 6 months away from release.

We've seen extremely limited damage modelling, no weather or day/night transitions, no head tracking, the same inadequote engine sound reproduction, few new tracks etc., the list goes on.

Let's wait until PD actually show something innovative and exciting before proclaiming GT5 to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, so far the GT5 demos look little different to GT5P!

I love these types of posts I've been reading lately (mostly the bold, though). :)

Because they're all true. They're realistic. It's like common sense is making a comeback! We know so little yet we assume so much. A deadly combination of hype mixed with hope.

And this is coming from a real GT fan. Myself.

At one point in the dream I met Mr Yamauchi, and that he spoke perfect/fluent English. Great, he's been lieing to us all along :dopey:

I used to like him, now quite less, to be honest he has a thing that i hate in game developers, a huge big mouth that tell us about features and promises that he doesnt live up, like Ferrari license in the past, damage, GT4 online, updates for GT5 prologue as they develope GT5, damage patch for GT5p, millions of release timeframes. Also the series got stale for a good while because he was too obsessed with small details instead of fixing whats wrong with the series (ai, online, damage, lack of customization)

I hate his mouth, is respect him for what he has done in the past but im not happy with his current management either, GT PSP has some really stupid design choices and is the worst GT to the day and i dont understand how can he fail his first time frame by 3 whole years.
Now i simply dont trust him at all, just like Peter Molineux (lots of promises, broken promised, meh results) or Che Chou (douchevag comments and ear pleasing lies, i love Forza but that guy is a douche).

I have big hopes for GT5 and looks like he has fixed a lot of the serie´s shortcommings this time, so i pray he doesnt make any stupid design choice.


And i know many of you wont like my opinion here but i dont care, the OP asked what i think about him and thats it. He made some great things in the past and gave us one of the best racing games ever (and racing series), now he is pretty unrelieable.

I agree with this, but im more optimist about GT5, i have seen some improvements here and there, probably is going to be the best GT yet, but i dont know if is enough to to be the best thing ever. (i hope so and then i hope that Forza 4 pass it again for more competition)

I hope PD release the game with the head tracking and the rumored track editor. On the other hand PD its going to cut a lot of enviroments from old GT in GT5, 35 to 20 which is kind of stupid if you have modelled 950, why so many cars and when you have cut tracks? GT carlist numbers are way beyond any other game, it doubles Forza 3 amount (400 is already insane).

Like someone says above, this comment reflects common sence.
