No. What car goes backwards if you keep your foot on the brake. How do you brake if your car goes backwards with your foot on the brake?
I hate that in a game.
If you need to use reverse during a race, then your race is over and any further time lost trying to find triangle isn't really going to make any difference.I see what you mean though about it being un realistic but sometimes when i need reverse and I'm playing at night in a dark room it takes me some time to find the triangle button on my steering wheel especially if the wheel isn't at the straight ahead position.
It would appear that you have a great mind.I'd prefer it if it was possible to downshift when in first gear to pick reverse.
It would appear that you have a great mind..
Auto Modellista used such a system. And while Daan's poins is valid on the fact your race is already over it's a small annoyance to have to shift down all the way through the gears to get to reverse. It's not like a H-shifter when 5-1 can be skipped.I'd prefer it if it was possible to downshift when in first gear to pick reverse. I really hate having to let go of the wheel.
Pushing a button to get reverse is how sequential gearboxes get reverse and, unless you're using a G25's H shifter, a sequential gearbox is essentially what you're using.
AFAIK paddle shift gearboxes do not go down through neutral into reverse.
Evo on the Gallardoevo is yet to drive a paddle-shift that really satisfies the way a conventional manual can, but I've been hearing good things about this one. There are two paddles residing behind the steering wheel, one for up, one for down, together with a reverse button on the dash.
The [430's] shift paddles are fixed to the steering column in tried and tested Ferrari tradition (right-hand paddle to change UP and the left to change DOWN) but reverse is now selected by a button on the central tunnel for greater ease of use
jfedorSo how exactly do you go into reverse in a real, say, F430 or a GT-R?
daanDunno about the new GT-R, but most others use buttons.
To me the problem isn't so much the way you enter Reverse.
I just hate the way it feels to keep pressing a button in order to drive backwards.
It's obviously quite ok for someone using a controller, but when using a wheel, it completely kills any sense of realism.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but even on cars where you press a button to go into reverse, you still use the pedal to move. You don't hold the button and have little to no control over how fast you were reversing. I think if however they let you engage reverse, using the accelerator to actually ove would be a lot better.Pushing a button to get reverse is how sequential gearboxes get reverse and, unless you're using a G25's H shifter, a sequential gearbox is essentially what you're using.

Yes, you push the button in the real car to engage reverse. The throttle and brake are then used to maove and stop the car. At no point have I indicated that you press the real cars button to move backwards.Correct me if I'm wrong, but even on cars where you press a button to go into reverse, you still use the pedal to move. Sorry, I didn't mean to indicate you suggested otherwise. I was simply making sure of the fact having never driven such a car nor questioned the operation of one in this regard.Yes, you push the button in the real car to engage reverse.
