That thread is specifically about who is driving in which F1 teams in 2010, not about what Raikkonen is doing in 2010, so this thread can stay open.

I find it interesting that Raikkonen is now working with Red Bull and that this could pave the way for his return to F1 sometime in the future with that team...

I think its so Kimi can have a lifetime supply of Vodka+Red Bull. ;)

I think it's good for him though. He has a passion of rallying since a long time ago so yep, he's there.

He also showed us an amazing perfromance back in Rally Finland but not after the crash and I think with the Citroen, he can do far better. Good luck to him and can't wait to see him next year :D

I unfortunately never seen Kimi in a Rally car so I'm not sure how he is, but if what some people say is true about him, then I look forward to seeing what he can do in the Citroen. He might actually not come back if he is that passionate about rally.

Kimi went out on SS2. He is now about half an hour behind the lead, but he was able to continue. Crashing was (rumored) due to hearing wrong or misunderstanding a note. He drove a corner 3 as a 5 :) These will surely happen in the early stages of his rally career. As he said himself, making pace notes and listening them will be the hardest challenge in rallying.

Rally Sweden, first WRC race for Kimi. Unfortunately he spun and got some snow in to radiator and so on. Then it changed to mist in the windshield. Even though he drove slowly waiting for the windshield to open up of mist, the car dropped into a ditch and got stuck. Picture of the day:

Fortunately he was able to continue. Let's hope that Kimi has a better day tomorrow!

Burying that pesky photographer I bet:

Or attempting to find his secret stash of Vodka :p

Or maybe he has found a new place to keep his Magnum and Cokes for when he doesn't need to drive. :D

Except for the mishap on stage 6 Kimi has been doing OK in the Swedish rally. He's usually somewhere around 10:th place on the special stages which I think is pretty good considering his inexperience.

I hope that Kimmi finds himself in that situation when he realize that rallying is much more harder then F1 racing. What he was thinking? But since ferrari still pay him for this season then he must do something, even if this is ridicules.

Agreed. Considering his inexperience he did a great job. It's interesting to see where he'll get when he gets used to the car, pace notes and everything else that is so much different in rallying.

Kimi already said that rally is much, much harder than F1. And he also said that he doesn't miss anything from F1. He enjoys rally so he drives it. I don't consider it ridiculous. I think it's a wise move to switch into rally if he didn't have motivation on F1 anymore and he had a passion for rally.

It's way more fun for him now thats what I'm sure of it. WRC is more attractive than F1 and now he had some best support from Loeb, Makinen and Citroen.

Kimi falls off Mexico.

After a half hour delay on SS2 thanks to a fuel system problem, he slid wide on SS7 and rolled several times down a bank. (Accident starts at 1:45.)

Ken Block is out too, crashing on SS10.

I wasn't expecting anything spectacular but figured Block was gonna last longer then Kimi given the experience level between the two.

Evidence of said crash? The WRC website said it was suspension failure.
Suspension failure that was caused by a crash.

Autosport
After a fine first day in the Monster World Rally Team yesterday, American driver Ken Block retired from Rally Mexico when he went off the road on the first stage this morning.

He talked AUTOSPORT through his debut in a Ford Focus RS WRC.

Q. What happened this morning?

Ken Block: Basically, it was a novice note-making error. I had a corner that was pretty quick into a much tighter hairpin. The transition between the two corners was a steep decline and the grip on that decline changed; there was really loose gravel. I was moving and things were going well, and I did all I could to get the car turned into that corner, but we couldn't make it and the car ran wide into a bank.

Q. What broke on the car?

KB: A front wheel and the control arm. It wasn't a really bad impact, but we just couldn't keep going.

It hasn't been easy for Kimi. Too bad he went off in the first day and lost 2 days of experience there. Shame for the fuel line problem and going off, because Citroen's where so much more competitive than Ford's, so he could've grabbed some points with a clean drive.

I have to say that I was positively surprised by Block's performance, I thought he would've been slower 👍

Saw the Kimi crash on MotorsTV last night... not a big speed crash, but where he went off had a big drop on the outside... plenty of rolls and one destroyed car!

Blocks crash was as he said, a rookie pace note error... he looked OK up to then.

I'd call that more of a small "incident" than a full on crash. Oh well.

I wouldn't call this a small incident, a small incident would be a bit of unexpected understeer on entering a roundabout or some mild oversteer on the exit. When the only reason your car doesn't roll over is because the scenery doesn't allow it I'd say thats more of a crash

Kimi finished in Jordan and even grabbed some points! He became the second driver to score points both in F1 and WRC.

Nice to see Kimi able to keep the car on the road for a full rally length. Now that he has completed his first objective to finish a rally, he can start to increase his speed. So I guess we'll see some improving stage times and more crashes :)

I googled it but couldn't find it. Who was the first driver to score points in both F1 and WRC?

***hoping it isn't someone really obvious***

Don't worry, he isn't obvious. At least wasn't for me. It was Carlos Reutemann, who managed to get podium in his home rally in 1980 and 1985. So, Kimi would need to win a rally to beat his accomplishments. Then he would be the only one to win an event in F1 and WRC. I don't see that happening in this season, but it could be possible if he decides to continue in rally. Of course the ultimate goal would be to get drivers championship in both series. Iirc, Kimi has said some years ago that it would be nice to be the first driver in the world to accomplish a championship in both series.

If anyone could do it, it would be Kimi. I just hope that if he does win the WRC drivers championship that he doesn't then get bored with it and try something else like NASCAR.
