I dont know if anybody else has downloaded the free beta version of metal gear solid online but if you have you might be able to help me out with a bit of an issue. The game demands that you have a konami ID in order to sign in as it doesnt seem to think the PSN ID is enough. Whislt loading the game it asks you to enter your ID and if you dont have one it directs you to a website that will allow you to create one. I have been trying all day now and cant for the life of me get an ID. after you fill in three things and try to progress to the next stage it says there has been a period of inactivity and refers you back to the start of the application.
Has anybody else had this issue as it makes the GT updates look like they are a dream.

It's because the servers are still overloaded, which is why I'm waiting until the 19th or 20th to even bother with it.

From,
Chris.

Yes, I have the same issue. And if you've read Konami's homepage they say the server is very busy at the moment so you will come across issues.

We just have to wait and be patient.

Yea there has been an official announcement that they will be taking it offline today to fix some issues due to the heavy traffic. Just be patient.

Are you trying it via PC or PS3? I hear via PS3 is simple and quick, compared to PC. I haven't tried for myself since my PS3 is not working at the moment (HDMI connection down).

Oh, here's the KONAMI ID link I've been trying. Hasn't worked for me yet. https://id.konami.net/login.do

they say that they are gonna fix it tomorrow.
We'll wait and see but today I received page error in last page of registration in many tries.

If you're able to get to the last page, or so, try this method. Hasn't worked for me, but never know...

1) Get to the long registration form as quickly as possible... then RELAX. Fill out this form very carefully and slowly. Remember that the KONAMI ID NAME must be all lower case and the password must have at least some letters in it and be at least 8 characters long... whereas the GAME ID NAME must be different and the password must be ALL NUMERIC.

2) DON'T submit this (you'll get a timeout)... just make sure it is fully filled out and ready... keep the screen near the submit button. Then, open a new tab in your browser.

3) In the new tab, visit the Konami ID site again. Go through the first set of screens very quickly and if you manage to get to the long registration form and it loads completely (and quickly,) switch back to the tab that was fully filled out and quickly hit submit.

4) Be prepared for the confirmation page. As SOON as it loads, quickly scroll down and click REGISTER. Don't bother looking over your information, because it will time-out.

this has ot be one of the worst planed online thigns i have seen in a long time. I dont think tey should have launched anything if they couldnt handle the number of people that might have wanted to sign up

COD4 anyone?

I'm guessing this is why they let people start downloading 4 days early.

I got my code in the Account menus put in, Downloaded the Game.. Then install it. After I turn it on, gets me to Movie, or Play (something like that) when i go play it tells me I need a 1.01 patch .. I click on either the Bit torrent server or Direct server, and after few seconds i have a connection error. I think ill wait till 21st to DL it.

yeah i had the failure to. You need to set it to dowload using the peer to peer method then it will do it. Mine took about 2 hours but still managed it. Just turned it on and walked away. Still no id though

credit to RoyBrown777 for this solution.

hi all, just managed to get my konami id sorted. Here`s how

This problem is solved by filling out the registration in very quick time, causing the page not to time out. In order to successfully do this you will need to have all the fields automatically filled, this duty is done by downloading autoformer addon for Firefox here.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1958

It will remember the information you have filled out on the konami website, hence you can simply click [next] once each page loads, instead of typing in each filed manually causing a time out.

The process is not an absolute garanteed, but it has a very high success rate. Just have some patience and keep trying once you have complete the autoform task on the DOB page and the ID page!

........................................

proceed to [id.konami.net]

click on the blue button [register]

enter your country, language and DOB. then click [edit]
in browser menu then

click on[autoformer] then

click on [save all fields]

click the grey button [next]

once on the terms of service page, you MUST wait for the agreement to fully load before clicking [agree], clicking early will cause a time out in most cases.

Hopefully after a few tries you have made it to the [enter your information] page. Take all the time you want with this page, as it will definitely time out whilst you fill out your information, double and triple check all of your information is [correct]. (DO NOT CLICK NEXT)

Proceed to to use the [autoform] application once you have filled out all of your information correctly. To do this again

click [edit] then

click on[autoformer] then

click on [save all fields]

You will most likely now time out once clicking on the button [next] unless you are very lucky!

Restart the process again, this time noticing that when going through all of the KONAMI web pages, that your information is already filled out. This will allow you to get through the registration process by simply just clicking next on each page. Make sure you wait for each page to fully load before clicking next, although once they have loaded, do not waste any time before click the next button!

After several tries this method eventually worked for me. Good luck all

joomy - Thanks for the info, but it didn't need its own thread.

Booya. That method works very well, first time for me 👍

+1 billion invisorep!

See you guys online!

Does the online work though? Can you get into a game?

If not then I'll just wait for the process to be fixed. Finding a username it can accept is becoming annoying, even with the autoformer (which helps alot 👍).

Well, no, it says 'unable to connect to server' error after you try to log-in. But that's because the servers aren't up till tomorrow I guess.

It's working now, the only time-out I got was on the terms and conditions page :D

From,
Chris.

I also got my Konami ID, but the update download went down the crapper. I will be barely able to play anyway, since school ends around the time the beta ends.

Yep, finally done mine. Seems to be a bit more reliable now.

You can only download it if you live in Europe. In the US, you have to preorder the game, and you get a special beta code.

I still can't register this damn ID! Is it only me?

EDIT: Why on earth are Konami so stupid to come up with something like this anyway??? I mean if you want to play GT5P online you don't need to register a god damn Polyphony ID! This sucks...
