Hi guys,
Just about to start the La Sarth 24hrs in about 4 hrs time. Just wondering does the c60 hybrid - currently untuned (The lemans car that was in the ocd before it changed) provide a close race? If it matters im using a G27?
Thanks!

A close race? Usually most would get the best car they can to crush the AI cars.Last thing I want in a 24hr race is " a close" race

It is propably possible to win the ai in any of the untuned LM prototypes. To make it close it's usually nesessary to handicap yourself.

This.

Technically speaking, endurance races are won by the number of laps you complete. If you make more circuits around the track then me, you're the winner. Doesn't matter if you run 289 laps to my 288, or if you ran 319 to my 288, you still covered more ground... unless your Bruce McLaren.

If you try and keep it close, your just going to shoot yourself in the foot. You have to factor in the minutes-long pit stops, spins, and other misfortunes. Sure, with the right car you could easily pull back up to the front, but at that point its not so much an endurance event as it is a regular lap-set race. Just drive clean and smooth, and keep the mind-frame that your the only one on the track... in endurance's nobody else matters so long as you turn more laps. Boredom should never come into the picture because eventually, the AI will be so spread out around the track that you'll always be coming up on somebody. Fatigue, which will affect concentration, is really the only enemy of these enduro's.

It's a race against time and laps more than it is a race against people because as you know people lap each other a lot in the real deal.

Dont use the X1 or any formula GT. I would suggest u should be using a le mans car (Really dosent matter which one) and put a turbo on it. By that the race will get a little easier cause if you are using an untuned le mans car it could get really close.. And 24h like that = Death :D

Done the 24 H Lemans few days ago..

Car: Mazda 787B fully tuned

laptime 3:20

drove 7x 3.20 in a row,in the night xD

well

if you pace hard all over the time you end up in 15laps lead...

dont install the turbo should make it a bit closer

also... the audi r8 run´s 11 laps in a stint my best with mazda was 8-9 standart 8

I would prefer to win by 1 or 2 laps

I ran a standard 787B and finnished just 1 min 30 secs in front .

You want to be looking for a car that laps at around 3.35.xxx to get a good close race.

P.s On racing hard tyres

Check here. In the search field simply type 'LM' or 'race car' or equivalent... ignore Allmendinger

Picture of each and specs are all on there too.

Couple of things to keep in mind:
It's going to rain and get dark.
Your mistakes are going to happen then.
If you want a tight race, you will need to run 3:28- 3:30.
I would suggest testing and tuning a couple of cars.
I did mine with a detuned 908 running 3:26's and won by 2 laps.

I'm using the stock hybrid. I'm 1 hour in - 11th. 2 mins 20 off the lead and closing. Oh, and the race started in the rain although it is starting to clear. How long until the track is completely dry?

Dunno. I think an hour or 30 min. Are you using Intermediates?

my best stint was @ night because the light from the car reflects other things... breakingpoints at mulsane are verry easy at night... at day i had many more fails

7laps in a row 3,20 min

oh and and im bit dissapointed... because i had no rain... 24H bone dry :(

Yes I am using intermediates. Trust me you don't want rain, you spin all over the place. When you get down by about 10 seconds and you push harder to try and catch up and then you spin and get further behind - that's what happened to me

i want rain^^ the others crawl too same conditions for all

would say its a bit the hybrids fault, because the car is tailhappy...

The best way to finf out is just do six laps and see how it is then multipky that with a lot and there's your answer (not ver precise)

Whats the hybrids fault?

that you spin out all the time in rain...
tested 1 time the hybrid dry... and slide all over the place... would say hybrid was a bad choice

Tonnie073

at Lemans you can easy drive 7-9 laps if you dont smoke the tires

mazda with my setup does 8-9 fast laps (if i dont crash) 1 crash can cost 1 lap if you slide too long (tire)

I choose the hybrid because it would make a close race and get me to handle cars better with less sudden jolts.

Almost 2 hours in and the rain has stopped occasionally but there is still the odd sprinkle. I had to pit about 2-3 laps early because back tyres had had it put racing hards on the car and was almost a lap down when I came out of the pits however I have been able to hold the bently out for the past about 8 laps, but can't seem to pull away from it. I'm running about 3:36-3:40. When the track dries out completely I might put racing softs on and see how I go.
Any other suggestions to get me back in the race?
