Blahahahaha, this made my day! 👍

Am I a really big cynic if the only thing I could think about when she said everyone gets a car is the crazy amount they now have to pay in taxes and fees to get the car...

Just a little. :) You can't pay the taxes on a prize on behalf of someone... if you do that, it's just considered more income, which would then be taxed too.

My brother said there was an advert for GT5 in today's Metro [free newspaper thing].

your brother needs a phone with a camera for xmas for these kind of situations :guilty: if i still took the train to work id have seen it

This is a very unlikely scenario, but lets assume Sony doesn't give a release date, and then puts GT5 on store shelves with no release date announcement. Could you image the hype Sony would stir amongst the entire gaming community, let alone the GT community. They wouldn't need advertisements when every game cover story states, "GT5 In Stores NOW".

Theres no release date because there's still so many copy's to produce , but so far the standard cars PD hasn't shown many

the problem is:

they've talked so much about it already, and said so many times: it will be release at <insert random month / year here>..

so everyone knows the game, and nobody belives its ever gonna be released. so advertising BEFORE its released is gonna seem like a waste, coz it could always get delayed again, right? :P

they said last year its gonna get released around march in japan and summer for the rest of us. and imagine if they spent a ton of money on... advertising a game thats not out till november 2010? :P

now they are prolly waiting till its out on the shelves, ready for people to go grab..
i imagine a nice tv ad, that reminds a bit of the top gear episode where he drives a ford fieste through a mall chased by a "baddie" in a corvette... ^^"we must get the game, NOW, no time for parking" :D

Sony are smart...and advertising has already begun (indirectly)

This is a Kevin Butler commercial for Canada...GT5 is all over, AND was the example shown for "hd gaming".

Sony knows this is a system seller, hopefully we'll have a surprise announcement soon!

Not only funny, but great eye. I noticed it right away before even reading your post!

GT5 in 3D is on his list, there's a poster on the wall when he walks by as well as it being on the TV, then we get shown a small clip of it, and then it is playing in the background as he walks into the boardroom.

They're getting ready, can you hear the hype train? I'm jumping aboard!

Edit-

He really puts emphasis on the "FIVE DAYS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE" remark, which seems very odd to me. There's no need for that line, and it wasn't meant in a joking fashion. Think it could be a hint?

The president of Sony CE of Brazil said months ago that GT5 would have a HUGE advertising campain. Even bigger than whatever we saw until today.
I think it´s fair enough, because GT5 will be one of the best selling games Sony produced.

I´m actually preoccupied with the lack of BUZZZZ.

As I read before, Sony is not making any move. They are silent, even knowing we are hungry to get that game. That´s pretty weird. Does not make any sense. =/

Ask and you shall recieve :)

Whats amusing is that guys Youtube Channel is the most watched in the country and top 20 in the world because of some GT5 vids. Thats how popular the game is!

"That guy" is also a GTP member, btw.

And I'm pretty sure an oil change takes longer, and isn't as clean.:p

IMO...

this whole GT release / advertising scenario has been a complete and utter amature CLUSTERF*%K

no release date.. video/ images all over the internet.. games escaping into peoples hands ...

wots the point in advertising this.. its all over the internet..mainly because they goofed the release date situation..

as they say , theres no such thing as bad advertising... people willstill be VERY AWARE of GT's imminent release... like i said , because its all over the internet due to the lack of proffesionalism.

BAD FORM for sony mainly .... but PD also...

just my 2 cents

I think we will be seeing some ads on TV "soon" :)

I think you mean the TV ads are 'expected soon'.

Have they already updated the status of the soon to be announced of the previous STBA?

People keep telling me to believe that the game will be out in 12 days.

Without advertising or an actual release date.

Remember how the game was listed in the Target ad, and sears, and toys r us ads? That was because the game was delayed too late for the ads to be corrected.

We're already beyond that point if the game is actually coming out this month. That means the game would release in no ads at all.

Reality is the game's probably not coming out very soon.

And if it's not coming out this month, Sony should have told us that. They've fostered this attitude by not addressing it.

I've never seen anything like this from a game company. Sony's being extremely coy.

This is exactly what i was thinking , they are creating an unbelievable amount of hype and obsession with the game that would cause some people to go crazy to the point where it would spread like a disease then they will release it in the blink of an eye causing the gaming world to explode like a nuclear bomb !!

This game is gonna be game of the year people , be ready for it !!!!

Not sure why you seem to be so convinced that it is not coming out soon. They do not need to run weeks of ads. The discs are pressed. The discs have been/are being shipped across the globe and will be in the hands of retailers very soon. I see no reason to expect the game not to be out by the week of Nov 30 at the latest and think it likely to be out the week of the 23rd.

Absolute worst case that I can see would be second week of Dec and I think this is very unlikely.

Also keep in mind that Sony said weeks ago that the game would be out at the earliest end of Nov and at the lastest mid Dec. Which says to me Nov 23 - Dec 14. They have not given an exact day yet but the GT website for most reqions still says Nov and the one for US still says Holiday which falls nicely into this same timeframe.

We will have the game soon, have some faith.

I want a release date as bad as anyone else on this site. I think you're being a little on the pessimistic side of things though.

Every Tuesday there are a few games I/you/we have never heard of, let alone seen a commercial for or seen a magazine ad for. What is happening here is just bizarre! "Stealth Launch"? Maybe. Nov 23rd? That would be nice. Showdown with NFS:HP3? That is exactly what I want!

All I know is my [GT5 guide] Amazon preorder changed (Dec 1st to Nov 23rd) a couple of days after it was noticed that the website changed to the 23rd. I feel very content that we will have it on the 23rd.

Answer in 2 seconds: what games came out this week? COD:BO, umm, err, uhhh, and I don't know.

I think they spent all the money on development, and forgot about advertising haha

G-sep you're probably right! Sony doesnt have endless cash like M$ does.

The point I'm trying to make is that this is very unusual for a game not to appear in weekly store ads during release week for such a big game.

Logic would normally dictate that the game isn't coming out if it's not being advertised.

Maybe this time is different.

There are definitely hints that it's coming soon but...

... there's a phenomena, I don't know what it's called, where 1 piece of information is circulated and told by more and more people; and people start to believe that, because they've heard it from so many other people that it must be true. Everything we've heard regarding the game's release has been a rumor and often from dubious sources. Meanwhile, Sony has remained extremely tight-lipped.

I just hope that's not what's happening.

Logic would dictate that major store flyers would not list GT5 as coming out Nov 2 despite it being delayed about a month earlier... but reality is those things are finalized and printed way ahead of time... it's entirely possible the lead time to get advertisements placed and going could exceed a month and if the choice is release before black friday with minimal advertising or wait until later on to get advertising right, it's entirely logical to choose the former.

My wife works for Target. You remember what happened there right? The game was in the ad for Nov 2nd. Evidently 18 days is not long enough to pull something out of an ad.

How would you feel if you were farting around at your favorite game or electronics store and you just happen to see GT5 on the shelve ready for you to buy it? I think a shot of adrenalin would shoot through your veins and there would be an incredible feeling of excitement, elation, and relief.

Excellent point! I think you hit it right on the head there

:nervous: Hopefully little Timmy doesn't discover the online play function. Why is a hardcore driving simulator on little Timmy's Xmas list? Marketing. It's a moebius strip, folks!

BTW, ever wonder why Coca-Cola is constantly advertised everywhere? Because people aren't aware of it?

On the other hand, you rarely see an advertise for Ferrari, and everyone knows it.

I really don't know what's the strategy, but there must be one.

My Amazon pre order has changed date again... automatic system tripping in who knows.. but it's now gone from the 3rd of December to the 17th of December that's nearly 2011!! :)
