Laguna Seca Lap Times For 449 Cars (And Counting!)

Does this example then offset or negate the NSX/Lotus FUBAR example made by @ALB123 earlier?

We'll never know until PD tells us how it comes up with PP for each car, which will probably be never.

Added:

Lexus IS 200 GT-1 '04
Toyota Altezza Touring Car
Mazda RX-8 Concept LM Race Car

Sorry, I was being a little rhetorical there. One observer made a claim that one pairing example showed PP was FUBAR yet here was another pairing that show PP works. Both examples are opposite and contradict each other.

@SuzukaStar is truly THE test piloto. Once again (as Suzuka) I have plotted his data, seconds versus PP. And a smaller subset, the 490-510 PP bracket. Of course there are the outliers, GSX, a Tesla, a Merc SL, but you'll see how the majority of the other cars fall within the low and high bands (1 std deviation)

108.880 490 SRT Challenger SRT8 '08
104.754 490 BMW M3 CSL '03
110.158 492 Tesla Model S Signature Performance '12
102.876 492 Suzuki GSX R/4 '01
104.329 496 Ferrari 365 GTB4 '71
109.288 498 SRT Charger SRT8 '11
105.307 498 Chevrolet Camaro SS '10
108.476 499 Mercedes Benz C 63 AMG '08
107.595 501 Ford Mustang Boss 302 '13
106.238 502 Amuse Nismo 380RS Super Leggera
107.216 505 Aston Martin DB9 Coupe '06
105.849 505 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C5) '04
106.671 506 Renault Sport R5 Turbo Rallye '85
109.504 509 Mercedes Benz SL 55 AMG (R230) '02
106.925 509 Lexus IS F '07
105.336 510 BMW M4 Coupe

Thst Ferrari 365 seems to be a sleeper.

Surely anyone can see the well-defined corelation between PP And lap times.

Amazing effort, @Polsixe!

I have to say that many of my best laps at Suzuka weren't as fast as my best laps at Laguna Seca, meaning that I have gotten better or that my standards have increased. I'm much more satisfied with my times at this track. I don't do anything else in GT6 anymore besides test cars, so hopefully by the end of this year I'll have reached the 600 car milestone and you can make one huge chart for that :)

As for the Auto Union Type C...why would you do this to me? Now I just HAVE to try it. At Suzuka on SH tires, I managed 2:12.333 which is faster than the Nissan GT-R's.

300 cars tested!

Added:

Toyota Vitz RS Turbo '02
Toyota Vitz RS 1.5 '00

They're basically the same car, except the Turbo has a...wait for it...turbo!

Vitz RS '00
1.5L
108 hp / 6,000 rpm
106 ft-lb / 4,000 rpm
940 kg
342 PP

Vitz RS Turbo '02
1.5L
137 hp / 5,000 rpm
145 ft-lb / 5,000 rpm
980 kg
376 PP

The RS Turbo is more than 4 seconds faster than the base car, but it roasts the inside tire during hard cornering.

^ No way a stock turbo and intercooler in a compact weighs 40 kg. There's something else.

I'm guessing all the plumbing for the turbo and intercooler might account for some of the weight.

According to the Toyota Vitz wiki the RS option, which was introduced to the Asian market Vitz in 2001, received "revised front and rear bumpers, a mesh grille, black tinted headlamps, front fog lamps, side skirts, and alloy wheels."

The turbo, plumbing, boost gauge etc. would have been in addition to these parts as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a larger diameter exhaust manifold or entire exhaust system, but the site didn't mention anything else.

1:44.992 - 510 - Subaru BRZ R&D Sport '12

Can you score under 1:45 in this BRZ? It's 7 seconds quicker than the base car, and uses the EJ20 engine.

Tested the base Mini Cooper '02. Let's see how it competes with the supercharged version!

1:54.923 - 389 - Mini Cooper S '02
2:00.795 - 343 - Mini Cooper '02

Wow, a whole 6 seconds. That's huge.

Wow! I'm shocked by the 6 second difference in the Mini Coopers. 3-4 seconds would have been my guess. I only own the 2011 Mini Cooper S, so I've never driven any other models, is the suspension much different in the '02 S version?

Oh yeah. Spring rates are very slightly different, exterior dimensions are different, and gearing is WAY different.

I just realized my post was very poorly worded. I didn't mean to ask if the '02 S model and '11 S Model had different suspension settings. What I really meant to say was, is the suspension in the '02 Mini Cooper S much different than the '02 Mini Cooper? Or is it just the additional power?

I knew what you meant lol the '02 Mini and '02 Mini S have totally different gears, exterior dimensions, and spring rates.

I thought in real life both cars use the same gears...

oh okay.. Sorry for my assumption. I still think I worded it poorly, after re-reading it. Thanks for the reply -- I'm still shocked at the 6 second difference.

Just managed a sub-2:30 lap in the Honda N360. It might not seem like it, but that car is massive fun when racing against yourself. It only has 29 hp according to the Garage, but it took the final corner at Laguna faster than most of the cars I've tested.

Also just tested Mazda Carol 360 Deluxe '62 which is over 18 seconds slower than the N360 but it came out 5 years earlier. It was released a full year before Honda's first four-wheeled car, the S500.

For my final trick of the day, I will test the Citroen 2CV. Oh boy...

Well, it took 4 laps, but I managed to get under 3:00 for a best of 2:59.967

I'm actually surprised it took less than 3 minutes.

And it appears that the Subaru 360 is the slowest car in the game on this track with a time of 3:02.751

This one's a little interesting. Despite weighing a ridiculous 405 kg more, the One pulls ahead by more than 3 seconds by the end of the lap.

Any fans of the Polo and Lupo GTI's??? More than 2.5 seconds between these two. Lupo ftw!

That Beetle is crazy. It's as quick as the Golf V GTI!
