Laguna Seca Record - Race Cars Only

Just for fun and curiosity's sake, lets see who can drive the fastest Laguna Seca lap. No rules except be the fastest. Get in your fastest car and drive...

When I first started playing GT2, I dreaded racing on Laguna!
-Does anyone else think that is the hardest course?
-I do horrible on that track...good job if you attempt to make a record lap

Are you kidding? I love racing at Laguna Seca, it's a very fun course.:burnout:

The first time I drove it I thought it was ridiculously hard... that infamous corkscrew. But now it's one of my favorites, especially the corkscrew! After a while, "ridiculously hard" becomes "challenging".

I also loved seeing the Toyota Atlantic Series there a couple weeks ago on the Speed Channel. Those guys wipe out in the corkscrew, too.

Also, I didn't mention before, your time doesn't have to be from a race. Practice laps are fine. Just for fun.

And mention what car you were driving.

-On the other tracks, if you are in a car that you have never driven before, and you spin out or slide of course, you can rebound off the wall . But on Laguna, if you are a virgin driver to, let's say a 500 hp ReXse7en, then you will slide off the course and into the sand . And all the other cars are passing you :burnout: :burnout: ; And you are left in the dirt lookin' like a retard !
-I didn't say i hate the course, i just think it likes sacrifes 😈 when the driver screws up!

Yeah, you're right, it's not a very forgiving course.

But at the same time there aren't many tracks that make you feel quite as cool when you nail every corner dead on and win.

I also like passing the other cars when they spin out...

Ummm...

If you say so. It just feels good going through every turn at maximum speed... no driving in the dirt, no (or very little) smoking the tires, etc.

But now I'm intrigued...

If you're so inclined would you elaborate on that? By no means am I an expert on racing; I'm still learning and improving. I guess I don't see how excelent cornering makes you a mediocre or "not a very good driver. "

Ah ha! Now I'm not . My fault. By "nail" I meant entering every corner spot on and speeding out as fast as possible. The more challenging the course the better is feels.

Was that the misunderstanding?

For proof you can use a dex drives. Dex drives allow you to e-mail game saves, which would include the replay of your runs. Those times I put up are quite old, I ran them last year, and just had them recorded from a previous OLR. If someone had a dex, and wanted to see a similar type run, it wouldn't take long for me to get pretty close to them again, and I would be happy to send it along.


I don't consider digital camera still pictures to be proof. They are easy to photoshop.

Heh, that's funny. This was supposed to be totally for fun, and not people are turning it into a competitive thing. Just a suggestion, but maybe we should actually trust people with their times? We could also include the cars we're doing the times with. That last sentence was for 774hp GTRSkyline.

I would think that when you say to post the fastest time, it would mean just that. It competition and why wouldnt you want it any different.
Oh, this really isnt in the proper forum either so it may have to be moved.
Just for the record, the best time I can remember on the Laguna was in the 1:08 time area. Ive done this track so many times that its hard to keep up with all the times from all the races.
Its funny looking at replays youve done from two years ago and see the lines youve done. It amazes me how you change your lines with the speed increasing and your times get better.
Anyway, just my input.

Oh, I guess it doesnt matter the car so Ill look and see what I have in the line up.
Since the PS2 is gone with 4mula for a week, I guess Ill brush up on the ps1.

Bone stock gtone road car with a 1:12.445 and the Unisia Skyline with minimal mods at 1:14.362.
Ill continue with the racing to see how I can tweak the cars out.
Im still used to the gt3 format with the throttle control and all and have to get used to the older format.

When you say "Unisia Skyline with minimal mods", are you telling me that you can buy parts for it?

Just suspension settings.
I didnt mess with anything but tires and suspension.
There is no way to add any power to the cars that I know of.
I still consider it minimal even though you cant really do any mods.
Btw, the Unisia is the only car that "feels" like on of the cars on the gt3. It has me following the same lines I would on the gt3 and handles soooo good, like my cars on gt3.
Now if there was only throttle control.
