I'm having trouble getting gold in the super license test @ laguna seca

i think my biggest problem is the corkscrew..

any tips to better my time on this track? i'm about 2s behind gold..

Watch the demonstration. I find the braking lines to be the same in TT as in GT4 (ie. when you hit the top of the hill jam hard on both brakes), lean a bit to the left to get the back to step out a bit, then feather the throttle coming down the corkscrew, especially on the right at the bottom or you'll drag your footpeg and fall.

Then set up on the outside of the next turn so you can cut the corner, if you brake before that turn you can be on the gas through it and all the way into the right.

I found it very helpfull to brake as your going up the hill, then coast over the crest.. Follow the darkened asphalt through the corkscrew.. Make sure your not leaning over too far at the bottom, as its easy to fall.

Do a few laps and then go watch the demonstration, to see how your ghost compares to the demo bike. Yesterday, that helped me figure out that I could keep up in the sections prior to the corkscrew, but that I then lost time in the corkscrew and in the subsequent corners. I find the corkscrew - primarily the exit - the trickiest part, because it is so easy to tip over if you go too fast and so easy to lose a lot of time if you don't go fast enough. I did finally make it by a few hundreds of a second.

I just finished this test 1 second off the pace :( Somehow I'm losing too much time coming out of the corkscrew too. Back to the drawing board for me.....I think I need to accelerate down the 'screw instead of coasting.

My splits were around 25s, 47s and 1:13. The demo's times for the first 2 are the same, but only 1:10 for Sec. 3

I think there is a small dip in the middle of the racing line of the corkscrew just as you are turning right. I have found that either going slightly left of the line at the point or accelerating through the dip while keeping the bike upright helps, though it still pays to be careful.

The Cork Screw sucks... It is beyond my imagination how people ever got that left/right thing right - be it on a bike or in a car....

stay left in the corkscrew. you tend to drop the bike ALOT if you stay right. in a car, the tight, right line is a must, but in the bike, slow to a good speed and tak the corlscrew easy :) best of luck

I stay left on my approach to the Corkscrew, then brake shortly after the first small rise before the big crest of the hill. I then drop down straight to the apex, but I stay off the throttle until I actually clear the apex. It works for me every time.
