We've been hearing rumors of hybridized Lamborghinis for years now, and today, we finally get to see the first one. This is the Lamborghini Sián, an 819-horsepower V-12-powered hypercar that uses a supercapacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery for its hybrid system. Just 63 will be built, and they're all sold.

Sián means "flash" or "lightning" in the Bolognese dialect—an appropriate name for Lamborghini's first production hybrid. The 785-horsepower naturally aspirated V-12, which has been upgraded with titanium intake valves, is paired to a 34-horsepower electric motor bolted to the gearbox. Lamborghini says the supercapacitor, mounted between the cabin and the engine, is three times more powerful than a battery of the same weight and three times lighter than a battery making the same power. The result? A 0-62 mph time under 2.8 seconds, and a top speed over 217 mph, according to Lamborghini. The Sián even has a better power-to-weight ratio than the company's hardcore track weapon, the Aventador SVJ.

This isn't the first we've heard of a supercapacitor-equipped Lamborghini. The company used the tech on its 2018 concept car, the Terzo Millenio. Back then, it wasn't clear whether the supercapacitor would actually make production. Now, we know for sure.

Lamborghini says low-speed driving and reverse in the Sián are handled by the electric motor. It also assists the V-12 with response up until 80 mph, at which point it automatically disconnects. The company says the Sián's design was influenced heavily by the Countach, though we also see some inspiration from the Aventador-based Kode 0 one-off in there.

...I think it's the worst looking Lambo in years (including Urus) but still voted for it regardless. I'm a sucker for insane hypercars, so there.
