Lamborghini to show off limited $1.6 million car

At least it looks cool. I find it hard to believe Lamborghini would put a little makeup on the car and then triple its price. I guess it sold, though.

I'll take a Veyron, thank you.
 
gallardo rear wheel arches, murcielago front body. Looks evil, but a bit like mixing chocolate and ice cream, tastes gorgeous, but ......oh wait .... :lol:

agreed, but I'm not talking about a money stand point, but even from that angle, why is someone going to buy a 1.6 million dollar "statement" that doesn't perform as well as other "statements" I understand why the car is here, but I don't understand why it is so expensive. Where is all that money going?

It's not a case of performance, value for money or anything like that. It's about exclusivity and cool. If you by this car, your one of only 20 other people in the world that have it, not only that, you've bought one of the coolest cars on the planet too.

Overpriced? Absolutely, worth it? Not for the average man, but for the super rich, why not.
 
Well the effect's are pretty immediate on me personally. I think it looks really quite good, not as good as a DB9 or possibly the LP640 but still it looks striking which is what Lambo's are all about. Also the performance figures don't mean that much to me. I mean I like Aston's which aren't particullary fast.

Also I must say 👍 To Lambo, great timing, I have to do a speech on Lamborghini for school, so this will nicely fit in the show....
 
That looks insane! But I prefer the stylings of the Murcielago myself, a guy who lives near me has an orange one and it looks stunning.

He floors it down our road and then lets off the throttle, flying past our house with the exhaust popping away before getting back on the power further down the road. It's stupidly loud when the exhaust is popping, it's almost like a boom, but when he puts his foot back down all hell breaks loose. It's such an awesome sound. So I hope this thing sounds as evil as it looks! :D
 
It's damn cool and evil looking but I'm kinda disappointed that it's just an altered murcielago....I was expecting something completely different..
 
I wonder how much money one could make off of selling chintzy body kits to Murcielagos that replicate the chintzy body kit look of this. It certainly has cooler looking gauges than the normal Murcie, but so does the Honda S2000 and that doesn't cost 1.6 million. I'll buy a W8 if I need aircraft looks.
 
It looks striking, but somehow.... boring? After looking through the entire autocar gallery, I must say that it really doesn't look all that special. I am especially tired of the bloated pig/whale looking front. The back has to be the strong point. And even that isn't as appealing as it was first sight. Unique and radical styling does not make for an amazing looking car.

I can think of cars that I can look at pictures of for a very long time without getting bored. And none of those cars cost $1.6 million. Veyron included, and at least that car goes well enough to match it's bloated price.

This thing should be included in Metal Gear Solid series ;)
Those lines from the side view look alot sexier than the LP640, but the best part is the rear lights design kinda resemble a bit from the good old Countach. Even the gas cap looks very nice too. I am happy to see they don't add stupid roof scoop and wings like what most people do in NFS.

For 1.6 million you could probably buy a pretty cool aircraft if you wanted aircraft looks.
 
It looks too "busy" too much stuff everywhere...
 
I understand that limited edition exotics like this don't make "sense" in a normal sense, but this car costs triple the model on which it is strongly based all for questionable looks and horsepower that you could get for far less money, oh and being able to say there are only 20 on the planet. < theres a good reason for that even an idiot wouldn't buy this car if it wasn't deathly rare.

I can't confirm yet, but the transmission should be 1 of the few options.

With 680 horses, it's currently unknown what it can achieve since a 640LP can already achieve 218Mph. However, Lamborghini had no intent on making this machine a competitor.

The Reventon, obv. based off a European Fighter Jet (although almost all Lambos have), is built to do 1 thing and 1 thing only. Secure the place as the most insane, outrageous Lamborghini ever, and bring back the saying as Clarkson put it.
The only reason people liked Lamborghini was because they were crazy, silly, and outrageous.

That couldn't be more true now.

Very true. But it would be quite hard to show up at "da club" with an F-4 Phantom. The valet would crash it.
 
What I don't get is why people are outraged with the new price tag. I mean honestly, the 1 million dollar car is acceptable, but paying another 675k for 22hp is some how...unpractical? :rolleyes:

I just don't get it.

Oh but you would. And if someone gave you a chance to drive one you would, and you'd love every minute of it. You'd probably talk about it for years.

No, I would be so confused how to operate such a thing, I doubt I would manage to get it started.
 
Those wheels would give Escher fits. The rest of it still looks like a rendering. The mish-mash of angles look like they'd be impossible to manufacture (although they obviously did it). As for value, you're simply buying exclusivity. Not speed, not the death-to-pedestrians body kit, not even the extra 20HP. You're buying "one of 20". That's it. To those with that kind of money, it's almost always worth it and they almost always come running with checks/black AMEX/steel briefcases handcuffed to wrists. To the rest of use with more sense than money...well, it's nice to know VAG is recovering some of the investment from the Veyron.

I realize I was a little hard on this car. I forgot that at the very least, it wasn't my greatest fear (which was them making the Miura), so while it wasn't exactly...inspired...it was certainly better than it could have been.

Wouldn't it be funny if the next car used this car for it's styling? All that exclusivity gone...

And can they develop a car with $20 million? That's probably what they made off the entire run if you take out build and development costs.

They need to bore out the V12, hire a stylist and update the chassis and they have a Murcielago successor. That could be done even with only $20 million. Besides, the absurd amount of sales the Gallardo has been getting will easily help pay for the next big Lambo, as will Audi's incredibly deep pockets. And for that matter, nearly all of this cars development was done 7 years ago, so I doubt they will only get a million profit on each car.

I'm just saying that designing a legal and wild body like this would take soem cash, and then the Murcielago costs some to build and then there would be some extra costs that might bring profits down quite a bit.

And I'm guessing that with $20 million, we won't be seeing a car with an entirely new chassis and engine? How much is the Murcielago based on teh Diablo?

This is true. But I would assume that the Gallardo cash would go back into a Gallardo replacement, unless Lamborghini was thinking of going down to one model. Of course they could be looking at adding a third...

So I wonder if the sole purpose of this car was to act as a fund raiser.
