I figured this time trial deserves a thread of its own. While I'm thrilled to finally see Nordschleife, being unsure if they would ever dare do it, they of course had to ruin it by allowing tuning.

I already feel sympathy for the people that struggled to get gold in the last trial at Road Atlanta. This will break a lot gold streaks people have going. For the fastest drivers, this will be a unique time trial that they will spend a lot of time on, but so will those that seek the highest prize tier possible. Many casual players won't even make it bronze this time.

Undoubtedly, this time trial could've been put together a lot better, but this is what we have now, and Polyphony won't change it.

At least this timetrial is lot harder to do those grass runs like on Road Atlanta because the track is there since release and the penalty zones are way better than on road atlanta. So far i can see it nr1 right now did a pretty good job. I wait a couple of days until the times settle and decide then if i try it so i dont spend to many day‘s of hey i have it to damnit not again ;)

Well it certainly should be easier than the Atlanta one, which I managed to earn bronze there. I have been driving at the Nordschleife for a few years so I am accustomed to how the course is laid out but the tuning will be the tricky part to this challenge.

That's what I said in the Time trial discussion thread too, but look how that turned out. While time-wise you can be much farther away from the WR, the lap itself is long too. For seasoned players it'll be relatively easy but more casual players will struggle.

As I also said there, it's hard to see this time trial from a different perspective, as you can't unlearn everything and start from the bottom.

Someone at PD is trolling people. There is no way this isn't intentional.

This is me so I can give you my experience with it heh. I've never taken the time to learn the track and never done it more than was required to finish the cafe menu. I expect to be outside of even bronze for quite some time, if I even manage it. I feel this won't be as bad for gold and silver as road atlanta, as like you say you can't unlearn. However, the bronze and no reward tiers are going to be WAY worse.

Finally PD are doing something with the Nordschleife, such a shame that tuning is on though. Having tuning has already killed race A with such little participation and massive field spread I reckon this time trial will be the same. I would've rather had the VW ID.R on this track, RH tyres and no meddling.

Yeah and really how much would tuning the car really help? If you don't have the necessary skills for this track/car then you may as well not even attempt it yet. The bumpy roads/corners will be the hardest part, the rest should be basic and simple.

Spent a few hours tuning this. Started with mechanical grip and then slapped on the 4 Aero parts. (no wide body / ridigity)

It's good for a sub 7 minute lap.

I was able to get a 7:47 with a completely stock NSX-R, it was one of the threads that someone made here a while ago.

I figure that with far more grippier tyres, more horsepower, suspension/lsd/downforce settings and less weight, a sub 7 minute should definitely be possible.

What are the restrictions? PP? Horsepower? Weight? Tyres?

No PP limit, just 345HP, 1050kg and Sports Softs.
Sub 7 minute definitely won't be a problem then...

The problem is that the Gold Time is going to inevitably be about in low 6:50s once the aliens kick in and get the tunes down. I'll give it a few tries on the weekend. If I nail a lap with at least 5 seconds ahead of Gold I'll stop, unless someone golds even higher than that... I put way too much time in the previous TT.

This one is totally unpredictable because of the tuning... There's almost an infinite amount of tunes to work out.

This tune got me down from a 7:05 to a 7:02 :)

Slowly making progress...intentionally playing on DualSense to get a grasp of what non-wheel users have to deal with.

With my own setup and mediocre tuning abilities, 6:58.0 so far. Could do a 6:57.0 or something at this point, but requires a perfect lap. Need to work on the setup more.

And even if I reach the gold time, it will mean nothing as it will drop further, we're still early into the time trial.

It's far less noticeable in "slower" cars.

And other than that, it's a bit noticeable on tight corners like hairpins and chicanes, which the Nurburgring has very few of, it's mostly mid to high-speed corners so wheel vs controller here won't be much of an issue, unless the nerf that I hear of from some posters here since 1.23 was really that large.

I'll try my luck tomorrow.

I'll try my luck later today. I can say we are lucky as Praiano has published a setup to make things easier. That said, as a 'weekend gt7 player' I think my time will be a bronze in the best scenario.
I would prefer that PD included a 1hr race at the Nordschleife, a 730pp for gr3 with a payment like Spa to recreate the IRL 24 hour race. Hope they'll add some something like that in a future update

I was thinking you guys would like this one, I got 7:43 on my 1st attempt earlier today.

Possible to compete with an engine swapped NSX?

just rolled another NSX engine. I like the 92' NSX swap I made...

Definitely a let down this TT; I agree with - most - everyone else in the tuning killed it. I don't have time to be messing with minor tuning updates and obviously the Nord is such a long track, it's virtually impossible to tell if said tuning updates are even helping.

Make some updates and run a lap .500" faster. Was that the updates or just me hitting one of the 176 turns better? I feel I am safely within silver with a 6:59, but finding five seconds seems like unless there's a magic tune out there ain't happening for me. Guess this one will be ruining my gold streak*.

I kinda regret wasting a bunch of money adding parts to it, but I hoping at least I'll get the 1 mil so not a huge deal I guess.

*I did get silver at Suzuka with the F1 car but I was away on business travel when the times kept getting lowered at the end of it.I was well within gold when I left; I was only .050" off gold despite that and I am 100% confident I could've gotten gold had I been home. That is my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

w00t, making even more progress. Didn't massively improve the time, but improved the setup quite a lot. Feels very consistent so far, I just need to find a little bit more for a clear gold. 6:55.0 right now
