These are my times in the end of my first day tasting this demo (just about 7 or 8 complete laps or so)

9'04" arcade tyres
9'29" road tyres

I'll keep improving... i guess :D:D:D

Could someone please include a link on who to get around the "Time-Limit-Problem" on Nordschleife!

Thanks Mista Y! Looks like you need a load of stuff I don't have. So I guess I'll just have to wait like most ppl for the full version!

Well at last i menaged to go under 10 min with 120d, MT, on aids on Road Tires with DS2...
Just one whole minute to go...
Oh, man I suck big time :guilty:

V V, what do you mean momo pedals? from what i've seen the momo racing pedals are exactly the same as the DFP pedals.. do you mean you modified momo force pedals for the DFP?
my accelerator is starting to give in to the defect ALL DFP / momo racing pedals have (accelerator goes out of calibration) , this problem sucks, but i found a way to fix it (requires you to open the pedals and put some tape on something, it's a permanent fix though).
anyway, i guess i'll start a new time thread... NO ARCADE TIRES on it though. :-D

I haven't made any modification, I simply use a special cable (made by myself) to connect the DFP wheels to the Momo Force (the red one) pedals.
I have more feeling with the Momo Force pedals than with the DFP pedals.

Take a look at the attached pic (legend in french). ;)

:D And another lucky one with the dealership version :D

BMW 120 i - MT - DSC off - arcade tires :ouch: - 9:03,079

BMW 120d - MT - DSC off - arcade tires :ouch: - 8:51,252

BMW 120d - MT - DSC off - :D road tires 👍 - 9:18,417

@Dragonmaster or VV: what's about some driving hints in the key-corners of the track ???

@tiptopcream: nice time without any surrounding !!! Its hard enough to remind every corner with full graphics :)

just did a new best time of 8'56.256 with the 120d, mt, no dsc, dfp with road tires. it would have easily been a 8'55.xxx or even 8'54.xxx with a little more polish, but i lost time on one of the last corners before the straight. i made a video of it too.

http://bykz.temp.powweb.com/gt4/120d_nordschleife.avi (this is 59mb)

i know i'll hit a faster lap, but only had the demo for 2 days.. enjoy the vid. :D

The 3rd lap i did in 9:16:150
Car: 120d
Tires: Road
DSC: OFF
Transmition: MT
Controller: DS2

8'56.256 👍 thats a very good time with road tires.

👍 Grats to J__ 👍

8'56'' is a great lap-time with roadies !!! I am looking forward downloading your video tonight at home..
... not becauce of not beliving you :) - Just for training !!! .... and I think I need a lot :indiff: ... more than 20 seconds

thanks. it's not like it's the definitive lap but the video will work great for learning the ring and improving your times. (it's from drivers perspective with dashboard and split times the whole way except for where i got a little sideways).

if the video link is broken then try again the next day because i'm only allowed 5gb's pr day and it will shut down when that limit is reached every day (usually the last 6 hours or so PST time) so downloading it earlier in the day will make sure you get it.

I hope you are not a rally-driver and you always had 2 tires on tarmac ... ;)

I ll try to download tonight or tomorrow morning and then i will hunt you ...

When does you "upload-day" beginn ??? At midnight ?

the day 'resets' at 09:00 central european time (i live in Norway) that is midnight PST.
if you get it all right it's totally possible to do a low 8'55 around there or maybe even lower, the problem is just to to it all in succession for ~9 minutes.. :scared:
usually you will start sweating if you do great splits towards the end and screw up somehow :)
i lost time at ex-mühle, on the back straight and schwalbenschwanz to name a few places, and the second-last corner i also get a little away from the apex.

good luck 👍

How about someone gives me a copy of this game so I can play it? If you pick one up at a dealership I'll reimburse you for shipping from Europe to the US. PM me if you want to help out an american.

And YES I can play PAL games on my PS2, I have the swap card and a PAL compatable TV.

gonna check out your video... are you SURE those are road tires??? i'm down to 9'15.246 with the 120d, road tires, Driving Force PRO and DSC off (manual tranny).
and i gotta tell you.. my lap was very good, i could still see room to shave of at least 5 more secs.. but that would mean a nearly perfect lap.
wait a minute... a time llike that is very doable with sports tires, but road tires seem kinda imposible, gotta check out the video :P

no offense my friend, bit the simple fact that you see just five more seconds does not imply that those times are false.
i for one got a 8´55.329 with the same game settings as you described.
it´s like always, all about the racing-line and catching it most time of the lap.;)
on sport tires you are about 15 seconds faster and my current time with arcade tires is 8´29.
but i do not claim to have run perfect laps, only clean ones.
another thing is to get the 120 i below 9 minutes, on road tires that is.
i already had a 9´03 but those three seconds won´t show up at the moment.

yes they are road tires..
and, there's also a difference between 'doable' and 'physically possible'.. i have already beat the 8'56 lap with a 8'55.422 just 45 mins ago, and i'm sure i'll still go many tenths faster with some more practice.. but the question becomes how hard are you driving?
for example by looking at my video, which was very clean with no 'corner cutting' to speak of (i don't think you ever see any tires on the grass there from cutting corners), and driving just to please the 'rulebook' which is: "at least one tire on the track at all times" - you can cut corners a lot harder than what you see there, and probably gain a few tenths by doing that along all the corners on the track (which adds up to quite a lot of time during those 9 minutes).

also, on a track like this you have to know all the corners, that means you need to drive there a lot and practice because you need to know what corner is next and how to take it. at the time of the video i was aware of all the corners but not perfectly comfortable with them all, you can see that because the first half is much better than the second half.. because i had spent less time driving on the second half :)

checked out the video, nice lap ^_^.
anyway, i guess it's back to the drawing board for me, i'm MUCH slower than that. specially at the last two corners, you take on those at full acceleration, whenever i try that i end up outside the track.
oh, i didn't mean the last two corners.. what i meant was the last two corners before the long straight.

Flinx, I am thinking the same thing might be possible, the 120i seems to have much room for 'improvement' if you drive it 100%.
I am doubtful it will work but nevertheless I'm giving it a few tries tomorrow and if i get below 9 minutes i will post it (and try to capture a video), hope you do the same and let me know. 👍

well, i try to do a video.
i can record it on VHS but have no capture card.
maybe my brother-in-law or some of our technic junkies at gt.de will help during our i-link session from 01. to 03. of october in Bochum.

on a side note:
the 120 d on sport tires is faster than the 120 i on arcade ones.
i won´t understand why the less powered 120 i has the longer gearing, this and the missing 13 horses make quite a big difference.

well, i'm giving up on the 120i for today with a 9'01.8xx :indiff:, i spent a lot of time improving the first half of the track and i got the above time even with a few small mistakes at the second half.. it seems i'm spending 5x as much time practicing on the first half as the second half. now im a little more optimistic about being able to do it eventually though. :dopey:

about the power, i found that corner exits are extremely important on the 120i and that is because many of the corners are 'beginning of third gear' or 'top of 2nd gear' so if you miss even a few km/h from 'optimal exit' you might be punished because the engine is then missing a lot of power if you are trying to do them in 3rd -- i'm doing most of the tight corners in 3rd in my attempts.

8'46.369
120d
Manual Tranny
DSC Off

On arcade tires, with the DFP Wheel.

I know it ain't all that, but it's quiet nice for the relative little amount of trying that went into it untill now. And seems like I race quicker on Sports tires then on Arcade tires. At least like driving on them more :) Just didn't get a clean full lap down on em yet. My splits have been quicker though.

Am learning the track a bit first, before switching to road tires. Making too many mistakes on road tires (also on Arcade tires :D), from bad judgement on the tight corners.

Sometimes I wish I was student again, with more free time on hand :)
