Ive seen a Gforce 2 Ti run CS:S without much problem (obviously no DX9 features though)

I didn't mean HL2 would be harder to run, I meant CS:S. Doom 3 don't play very well on my Computer, as I have a crappy Graphics Card.

I also agree very much that Halo 2 and San Andreas are suited to a more general audience.

HL2 doesn't have a chance in Hades at topping SA. Think about it, How many PC's (that will actually be able to run the game) are out there compared to the number of PS2s??? That's why I also think Halo2 won't be able to top SA. It might come close, but i'm betting that there just isn't the hardware out there for HL2 and Halo2 to top SA. (but i'm still more excited about Halo2 than i was about SA, or even *gasp*GT4)

Halo 2 is on Xbox, I don't see a problem with "running it". Other than that, I completely agree.
He was talking about Half Life 2. I'm not sure if my PC can handle it or not. Early system specs were ridicilously low (733Mhz CPU, 32Mb graphics card). I think they've been at least doubled. Many people can't handle modern games, but sales will continue to slog along as people upgrade or buy new PCs.

edit - My mistake. He was talking about both. Halo 2 won't be out on PC for a while so his point only refers to Half Life 2.

That would be a general, over-18 audience, yes? :D

when I was talking about the computers, I was talking about HL2. yes. But when i said i don't think there is enough 'hardware' for either, i meant that there just aren't enough PC's and/or Xbox's as compared to PS2s.

I wonder what Halo 2 is gonna do to the chart in a week.
Halo 2 won't drop GTA:SA off the top of the charts for the simple reason that H2 was pirated and spread all over the internet. I know around 10 people who've had H2 for a good two weeks or so in my dorm, so I would assume that most of the hardcore 'haloers' have already got a copy of it for free. Granted, 4/5 will buy the real version this Tuesday, it won't rock the charts. GTA:SA will be on top until GT4 comes out, then GT4 will blow it away.

Thats my prediction atleast,.

I think GTA SA will be the top for long time, id be interesting to see GTA SA and Halo 2, half life 2 and GT4, all huge games, btw how is Doom 3 going?

Doom 3 kind of flunked. It wasn't as great as most people expected, and alot of people don't have the hardware to run it properly.

I think thats where alot of PC games fall down, the system requirements!.
I think consoles will always top the market, i know ill never try and keep up with PC games too expensive!.

I also found out that in the U.S SA had just over 2.5 million pre orders which at $49.99 each equated to about $125 million on its release.Thats amazing!.
I also heard HALO 2 only had 1.5 million pre orders, apparently Microsoft were spewing!.

Here's my take: PC games fall down because not everyone's computers are great, for many different possible reasons. Games like Doom 3 shouldn't expect to make good sales, because their games won't run well on even decent to good consoles. It's all about the GFX Card with that game.

Consoles will over-rule PC for a long time, but I think there will be a time when PCs become much more efficient, and games will become easier-run, so they won't always rule, but they will for a little while more.

As for expensive? I don't think they're overly expensive.

Still there... and is already 4th best selling PS2 game in UK!!!!

UK CHART: SAN ANDREAS SECURE AT NUMBER ONE, SALES HIT MILLION MARK

All is good in the world of GTA

11:44 Rockstar's GTA: San Andreas has hit around one million sales in just nine days according to the latest figures from ChartTrack, selling in fact more copies in its second week on sale than previous fastest-seller Vice City did in its first week. And in terms of lifetime sales, it's already the fourth biggest-selling PS2 title on these shores. Holy and, erm, ****!
Crazy figures, and as such not surprising to learn that the GTA sequel is still number one in the ChartTrack-compiled UK all-format chart, week ending November 6.

Keeping its grip on second place this week is EA's FIFA 2005, while the Sega-published Football Manager 2005 makes a bold new entry at number three. FM 2005 dribbles past Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 4, which drops one place this week to fall to number four. Anyone would think we're a nation of football lovers.

EA's Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 continues its climb up the chart, moving from six to five this week, switching places with last week's number five and another EA title, the fabulous Burnout 3: Takedown, revving engines at six. At seven is Activision's Tony Hawk's Underground 2, which skates down three places from last week's fourth spot.

THUG 2 seems to be on a steady downward slope, but Activision has an up-mover this week in the shape of Shark Tale, making like the Thorpedo and swimming from ten to eight. At nine is EA's The Sims 2, a non-mover this week, while a new entry from the publisher, The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, comes in at number 10.

Nothing too dramatic occurring further down the field, so until next time...Here's the current UK All-Format top 20 in full:

01. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
02. FIFA 2005
03. Football Manager 2005
04. Pro Evolution Soccer 4
05. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005
06. Burnout 3: Takedown
07. Tony Hawk's Underground 2
08. Shark Tale
09. The Sims 2
10. The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age
11. Star Wars: Battlefront
12. Pokémon Fire Red
13. LMA Manager 2005

15. Crash Twinsanity

From http://www.ferrago.com/story/4691 ...

If global sales do - as expected - reach the same stellar highs already filtering through, then we could be looking at 3 million copies sold in the opening weekend, a record by such a margin that apparently only ten PS2 games have sold more in their entire life-spans. Once again it looks like GTA is set for world domination, this time on an unparalleled scale. Time to buy shares in Take 2, methinks...

Anyone with shares in Take 2 Interactive would be swimming in there 100M pools of cash on Hollywood Hills eating Lobster, methinks...

Lucky people.

I meant expensive in the sence of having to have the latest most powerfull hardware to keep up with software demands.
The games are competitevly priced ill give that.

I stand corrected...

UK CHART: HALO 2 LANDS AN UPPERCUT TO GTA'S JAW

All is as predicted in Chart Land as Halo 2 hits the top

13:06 For anyone that was surprised at the outcome of Rocky 2, 3 and 4, seeing Halo 2 on-top of the UK all-format chart might come as a bit of a shock. For the rest of us, it's a sign that maybe we should place a bet on what'll be the Christmas number one after all.
Master Chief's second outing shifted over 260,000 copies in its first three days of release, making it the third fastest selling videogame ever. And the two games in front of it? GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas, which remains at number 2 after selling a staggering 677,000 copies in its first two days on sale and passing the million mark last week.

Apparently Halo 2's done some brilliant penetration though, with every 1 in 6 Xbox owners picking up a copy. It'll be interesting to see if it can stick like a plasma grenade to the top spot next week.

Further back there's some big new entries for the PS2 with WWE Smackdown! Vs Raw in at 3. A good job for the latest instalment in the long running Smackdown! series considering the calibre of opponents above it.

Not doing so well are a trio of Sony new releases. The Getaway: Black Monday breaks up the mini football war of FIFA 2005, Football Manager 2005 and Pro Evolution Soccer 4 by lodging itself in at 6. Much further down the list is Eye Toy: Play 2 at number 14, with Ratchet and Clank 3 one place behind at 15.

Also stumbling into the chart is The Urbz: Sims in the City that enters at 9. We're sure Electronic Arts won't be too worried though as their key releases have a habit of clinging to the charts and doing the unthinkable - actually climbing positions rather than gradually falling, as demonstrated by The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age climbing 2 places to 8.

The Incredibles is the final new entry this week sneaking in at 19, not a bad job as the tie-in incredibly (sorry) hit stores 2 weeks before the movie is even released in cinemas. Expect this one to rise in the coming weeks.

Next week we predict another festive shake-up as Half-Life 2 makes its presence felt and the Christmas list brigade hit the streets in full force. Could we see GTA back on top? Ooh... the suspense!

Here's the UK All-Format top 20 for week ending November 13 in full:

01. Halo 2
02. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
03. WWE Smackdown! Vs Raw
04. FIFA 2005

08. The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age
09. The Urbz: Sims in the City

Well, I could see this happening, but I was sort of denying. It really doesn't actually matter in any way to me at all. Vice City and San Andreas are still the Top 2 Fastest Selling Games of all time, though, if that's any consellation. I congratulate Halo 2. Looks like a decent game. Well deserved I think. Still, San Andreas stills stays at Number 1, 2 and 3 on my personal charts.

yeah, i really dont care at all about stuff like that.. if a game looks good i'll rent it, if i really like it i buy it.. charts like that are more a guide to what might be good, but just because a lot of people buy it doesn't mean its any good and that of course works both ways :)

Exactly, and the fact that more people are buying Halo 2 rather than San Andreas worries me none. I don't care if people are missing out on San Andreas...their loss, not mine.

where is some global charts? i want to see worldwide sales for SA and Halo2?

when would we get total sales,

A guy at EB says halo 2 was the most pre ordered game eva, and the fastest selling game eva. I want some proof to his salesman statement
