It's NOT the fastest selling game ever. It's the 3rd Fastest Selling. The statistics prove that Vice City and San Andreas (not sure which order) are the Top 2 fastest selling games ever.

The guy at EB was wrong... GTA:SA was the most Preordered and fastest Ever... VC is 2nd... and Halo 2 third.... it says so in that article. Admitedly that is only the UK chart... but I expect it to be similar for worldwide.

thats what i thought, but he reckon it was the most pre ordered ever, i wanna see some world wide sales and statistics to clear this up

And Halo2 gets its arse kicked firmly again...

First week Sales boost managed to overtake SA's 3rd week sales... but SA's 4th week is more than a match for Halo 2 and Half Life 2... and NFSU:2.

UK CHARTS: WHO'S THE DADDY NOW? SAN AN SHOOTS STRAIGHT BACK TO THE TOP

The golden age of gaming continues in our weekly round up of the All Formats Chart

15:06 Oh the excitement, oh the drama, oh the tension. Here at CVG, our fingernails have been so far gnawed down, that we're now all chomping on our digits. Could the Xmas number one race conjure up any more meandering twists and exasperating plot-turns?
After becoming the fastest selling game of all time, then being downed by the helmeted chappie they call the Master Chief, GTA: San Andreas has steamed straight back to number one in the Chart-Track All Formats charts, making it the most wanted criminal on the block. Damn right too. Especially after we discovered Grand Funk Railroad on the soundtrack...

Halo 2, experiencing fortunes of a different kind, takes a slight tumble to fourth place, while anticipated gravity gun fest Half-Life 2 makes a deserved new entry at number three.

But it ain't the highest new entry of the week though. Oh no. That accolade falls to EA's moody, night-time, speed epic Need for Speed: Underground 2, proving that 10/10 scores aren't always imperative for success. Mind you, with that title boasting multi-platform selectivity, it's hardly surprising it's sold so well.

Further down the list, the footie battle continues to rage. Pro Evolution Soccer 4, bizarrely, still plays second fiddle to FIFA 2005 (only just mind), while Football Manager 2005 clings onto a Top 10 place despite a drop of five places.

The real shock though is the performance of Mortal Kombat: Deception - the bruising and rather engrossing smack-'em up from Midway only manages a disappointing appearance at 27th place. And Singstar Party barely creeps in at number 40. Must be something to do with having Tiffany on the soundtrack

And that's kinda about it really - everywhere else in the Top 20, it's all push'n'shove, no new entries and a whole load of licensed products trading blows with established franchises.

With several other big names: Goldeneye, Call of Duty, Prince of Persia and Killzone set to arrive on shop shelves very, very soon, this Christmas battle is far from over...

Bugger, there goes my index finger...

Here's this week's UK All-Format Top 20:

1 Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
2 Need for Speed: Underground 2
3 Half-Life 2
4 Halo 2
5 WWE SmackDown! Vs RAW
6 FIFA 2005

when would we get total sales,

A guy at EB says halo 2 was the most pre ordered game eva, and the fastest selling game eva. I want some proof to his salesman statement
Guys at EB dont know anything. They just work there and listen to rumors like we do. I remember time after time of being told GT4 was just about to come out. Yeah right they are still wrong. Even a year later.
On topic I would think that Halo 2 would slip under GTA:SA even worse in a few weeks but who knows. I play both and GTA:SA seems to be sooo much more fun. Just my opinion.

im suprised NFSU2 hasnt been number one, isnt it available on PC,PS2 and Xbox. SA is only on PS2 and in its 4th week and its still number 1 :)

It's just that damn good.lol
Nah,seriously.i would have expected Half Life 2 on top but i guess there is a wider audience for GTA SA.
And what the hell is The Getaway:Black Monday doing there? It's a horrible game. :yuck:

Anyone with shares in Take 2 Interactive would be swimming in there 100M pools of cash on Hollywood Hills eating Lobster, methinks...

Lucky people.

Sorry for this late reply but I just started reading this thread-- I own shares of Taketwo interactive--- and its done ok (not great)-- I bought them about a year ago at about $29 share-- its now trading at about $34 (so I've made about 15% on it--not that I have alot of this stock)-- The problem with this stock is that GTA is its only real successful game-- and they are few and far between-- they also had to restate some earnings from previous years because they were not accounting things quite right.

Here is the 1 year chart for the stock--lots of ups and downs.

Yeah, I thought of that. I don't remember any games by Take-Two Interactive outside of GTA, although there may be some. Nothing major, though.

Ahh, I didn't realise that was Take-Two Interactive. I knew it was Rockstar Games. Rockstar Games have a decent video game history.

Killzone has multiplayer. It's a fun game. I'd compare it to Halo.

Speaking of Halo, I had the chance to play Halo 2 with my cousin over the weekend and we beat the entire game in 6.5 hours on the hardest difficulty. What a lousy game. I know it would have been much harder doing it solo, but it's a very short game. The multiplayer kicks ass though.

Hmm, sounds like a good game. I might check it out. Sounds like a great PC game for some LAN fun at school.

Thanks everyone for the explanations.

I beat the single player in 8hours by myself and its ok. Online is where Halo 2 dominates!
I was pretty sure when I read this that NFSU2 would be close to the top on the list.

So would I. I see now why Halo 2 dropped off. The Single Player seems to be a big disappointment. I've heard this elsewhere, too. Games like that, NFSU:2, etc, I expected to be big when first released. They had the hype. San Andreas seems to have the continued hype and excitement, though, which is why it's on top.

I imagine it will stay on top for a lonnnngg time and so will NFSU2. NFSU2 is probably one of the best car games I have played this year as I stated in a previous post in the NFSU2 thread. 👍

yay woot for SA, seriously though im topping 100hours of gameplay with no end in site. NFSU I like for about 50hours number 2 prolly be the same. GTA SA just has the huge longitivity in it

Yeah, and nothing has gotten old in that game for me.

I don't know about staying on top for a "lonnnngg time", but for a while. It'll stay in the Top 10 for ages.

Vice City was in the top 20 a week before SA got released... so I can imagine that SA will be around for years!!
