lol i am always down for some good friendly races! -- i find it funny when people online ask to race for pinks lol

i am usually on at night (Texas time)

Launch control you hold the brakes on not the hand brake ...

f_399 you are missing the point, you are not winning thanks to a great start, it is sheer power that wins it for you!

Works holding the Handbrake for me :/ haven't tried just normal brakes yet, will put it on later and have a play

Its really hard to throttle control in gt5 using ds3, the dragracing is also wierd, cause we dont have drag tyres or drag strip. "Streetdrag" is the only thing we can do, but it is unfair because some cars have huge grip, and some cars have bad grip. No throttle control = wheel spin. I also dont like launch control, i like playing with aids off. Full throttle is bull in streetdrag, because we dont have tyres that grip.

The low speed physics are not accurate in GT5, so more times than not you're better off just keeping it floored spinning wheels, it's faster, unlike real life. Trying to feed the throttle is pretty much useless, because if you don't have the throttle pressed hard enough the clutch won't engage properly, leaving you going nowhere and when you press the throttle hard enough for the clutch to engage the wheels spin. It's a pretty futile exercise trying to get a good launch in anything but 4wd. Probably one reason why drag racing was not included in GT5.

+1, right on the nose man. I can deal with it, but its so odd.:yuck:

real launch control in a Porsche 911 997.2 on-board computer sets the revs to 6,500 then releases on launch but with a low traction control setting also still had a bit of wheel spin to it.

Personally on some cars I could start in gear 2 and it launches really good.

note that its only good to launch from 2nd gear if your car has a lot of torque.

For all gears Torque basically sends the car's power to the wheels faster (makes it a lot more responsive)

stock cars that have a lot of torque are the Corvette ZR1 , SLR McLaren stage 1 at least mostly supercharged can start on 2nd gear but even some stock naturally aspirated cars can start in 2nd gear depending on the car really not just on the torque.

But when your car is modified usually its easy to start on 2nd gear :) unless it has really low torque.

Usually I do not put Engine Stage Modifications because it cannot be undone and when the car has too much power usually after sometime you just want to drive the original performance power of the car so I never put engine stage mods on my car unless I would use it just on the straight!

This bothers me a lot too. Its like your car won't even go unless you are pushing the throttle down a ton, makes it hard to ease into it. Even if your just idling at 5 mph, and punch it, that weird clutch will still stop the power from being applied until its way up in the revs where the tires are going to break loose. I do like how in Fm3 its easy to find your revs that you need fro a good launch, can just hold them at 5,000rpm and drop the clutch, the tires may spin a taste hook up and off you go. In GT5 trying the same thing just doesn't work since the rpms are at 5,000 but the on screen indicated throttle is only at about 6% applied, so the damn clutch won't let go yet. I think its been this way since I noticed it in GT3.👎

Well I tried out getting better launches with less powerful cars in stock form. The 280Z did decent, but then once the rpms got close to redline it would just sit them there while it was spinning the tires slightly. Not realistic, only has 147 hp, irl in a early 90s 300ZX with the 3.3l V6 the tires would only spin a bit into first gear.....dropping the clutch from about 4,000rpm. Overall the damn clutch would stop you from dropping the clutch at that rpm, instead just holding the throttle down to about 3/4 filled on screen indicator then feathering is best.

About the same results with my Tempest GTO. The main issue with it was that it would do the one wheel spinning thing in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. So you had to feather the throttle all the way up to 3rd gear. It does have over 400 ft lbs so it could be realistic.:indiff:
