Guys, can anyone here NOT using TCS launch big HP FR cars half decently?

I run the Logitech wheel and I can not for the life of me get a decent start - the AI just leaves me standing.

Tips, anyone?

Feather the gas a tiny bit when you take off. And don't take off at the highest possible RPM, go for 5k, 4k or even 3000 rpm.

yeah, play with the gas. Once you get good at it you should be able to give the same effect of TCS. But usually without TCS you get some wheel spin. I have actually recorded better lap times with the TCS off. I can get a lot beter acceleration out of turns without it.

Oh, I'm not talking lap times, I'm much faster without TCS or ASM- that's not a problem (and in fact the whole reason I got the Logitech wheel, so I could be more precise with the throttle out of corners).

It's just the initial launch off the line - I try to use part throttle to avoid wheelspin, I just can't make a competitive launch once the car's got more than about 550hp and is only driving the rears.

just try slowly aplying the gas. As u pick up speed, add a bit more gas. After u reach 2nd gear u should be all the way down by then. Unless your talking about the 1000hp monsters.

I dont think it is possible to know all the kind of sensitivies that the PS2 pad has. I mean, they exist, but it is not as precise as using the logitech wheel.

I am talking about the gas.

Why would you want to run a car with no TCS
More challenge, more fun, requires more skill (thus this thread), [hey! that was a perfect example of alliteration! :loudmusic ]

Also, once mastered, you can get better lap times...

wut i do is hold the needle at about redline. then when the car shifts into 1st the rpm's drop alot but your at the top of your powerline without causing any wheelspin. from there just accelerate slowly. CPU usually eats MY dust 😈
or if you have a real high powered car, you might try taking off in a higher gear. i don't do that, but i have tried it. and it works...sometimes :D

Take the car to a track, and see what speed you're going when yoou hit redline in first gear. Then when you launch, feathering the throttle of course, don't shift to second until you hit that speed.

when you start the thing that shows the gear number... it's a bit grayish... so start flicking the gas really lightly , and when that number (1 for this) turns yello then you can punch it...

Don't forget to lower the RPM while you are standing still. if you redline it before the start of the race you'll just smoke the tires and barely move. Play aroung with different RPM's to see which one gives the best launch off the line.

I try to launch with about 2-3000 rpm, and try to find traction - often I'll hold first at the red-line and let the wheelspin catch-up.

It just sickens me to see the rest of the field scuttle away while I'm trying to get the big fella hooked up...

With some cars they have aerodynamic aids. e,g, diffusers, spoilers etc. they can keep grip well, you just got to play about with the accelarater pedal.

well, i've done arcade mode and have started the licenses.

I completed arcade mode with ABS & TCS both off and found that I could catapult off the grid by starting in 2nd gear, in 1st I just get too much wheelspin with the high-powered cars. I'm not sure if the 2nd gear start works in sim mode but it's worth a try. ;):D
