Before the 1st long straight road it change (with chicane) 2009 is tarmac, 2005 was dirt.

You can see the ad all around the circuit who change. In the 09 you can see "Région Pays de La Loire" ad before this long road(ok is just because i live there, i saw the difference ^^).

there is more paved runoffs in 2009 layout...look at the dunlop curves and the porshce esses. the 2005 layout doesn't give you much room to slip a wheel off track.

There is more run off and I beleive a few corners were very slightly re-profiled. Also in GT5 2009 is all new, 2005 is ported from GT4.

To me the main difference between Sarthe 2005 and 2009 is that in 2005 you either can't cut corners at all, or you can't cut corners without taking a trip to the beach in the process. I prefer 2005.

Yeah, the track has gone through many changes over the years. a '60s or '70s version of the track would be amazing! No barriers along the straight.. 👍

I seem to remember there was a thread a while ago about which tracks we would like but wouldn't realistically get. There were an number of suggestions for the old spa, monza and nurgurgring layouts, without the barriers and such! below is a video of the old nurburgring layout form 1967.

with some period cars these would make for some great racing!

P.S sorry if i am off topic here!

Quite a few corners were reprofiled between 2005 and 2009. The most obvious ones should be the first corner which was made 'longer', in that the corner is further away. Just drive the 2009 version then drive the 2005 version in the same way, you'll end up in the gravel or a wall.

Tetre Rouge is profiled slightly differently with more runoffs in 2009.

Indianapolis again has more runoffs on the left in 2009.

The Ford Chicanes at the very end have changed many, many times over the years but again they were changed between 2005 and 2009 with more tarmac runoffs.

Really the best thing to do is run one after the other, you'll see the differences quite easily.

A 60's version of the track would be brilliant. I'd love to go through the old Maison Blanche and thunder down the Mulsanne Straight without chicanes or armco barriers. Wouldn't mind playing the original Le Mans which went right up to Pontlieue either.

Does anybody else think the graphics on the 05 version look far better than the 09 version? My theory is they thought the game wouldn't take as long being developed as it did so they made the 09 version in a rush to make the circuit more up to date.

They're both pretty bad to be honest. The wallpaper trees at the end of the straight are awful.
