@TwinTurbos: Good for u. U should attend the program no matter what. May u become a good designer.

@Venom: Nice design. U r very good in designing cars, why not become a car designer, maybe one day we all can see ur design on the road.

Oh yes I have :p
In fact, that is where I got the name from lol
Not only am I a big car nut but I also love aircraft, especially military ones ;)
Ah, I knew it:sly: I love Aircraft as well. Thats the main reason I love Ace Combat is that I get to fly all those aircraft. Say, You think you could draft up a Daytona Prototype design?

Thanx. For me, 3ds max is quite difficult to design a car. Bear in my mind is nearly impossible to design an 1:1 scale car in 3ds max because it needs a lot of raw pc power, at least for me. For starter, try sketching n imagining the design a lot, then u try to follow the design as accurate as u can. As for software, i recommend u to try solidworks, as is far easier to modelled mechanical thingy. Good luck.

@Racecar: Thx for the link, i'll look into the doc later.

To be honest, what I really want to use 3dMax and other 3D modelling programs for is to modify pre-existing cars in my own way.

For example, I've always wanted to know what a GT500 style, widebody, stock red paint NSX would look like. And a program such as 3dMax is the closest thing to realising this. 'Templates' or similar seem to be the most simple way in doing this so far but I can't figure out how to use them effectively to do this so far.

@GT Pro: Maybe u can ask someone who has the file, then, u can modify it.

I think this is my final touch up for this model, later i will colored it in photoshop.
I'm still thinking for name though. No idea at the moment. Lets just call it Proto-05...

im trialling an alfa 9c lmp prototype. the front sketch is like an alfa 8c

by the way, ive read all the rules and it would take months to get a lmp car right

seems like your diffuser makes some turbulence, try adding some fins there to make it a bit better.

Hi there Sapphire, some nice work going there.

A suggestion with flow works, instead of setting the flow trajectories everywhere, select them on certain surfaces of the model, they become clearer as the trajetories not influenced by the bodyshape are not shown.

Here is a floworks screenshot of a project I am currently working on, called the Firefly.

Here's a couple of Solidworks Photoworks renders of the car.

This is the past 9 months uni work for me. Got me a distinction in the module it was for. :)

EDIT:
I've also just realised from your models that I've met you on another forum, which was it?

Hi All,

Im new to thsi site. I love the designs you guys have. This one is mine. It took about 30 hours of modeling. I've done modeling with other things, but this was the first car.

I like the "firefly" concept Komodo. It is very unique. I love the color choice as well. Mind me asking how you did the light beam effect in PhotoWorks?

Looks good buddy! Could use a little more shaping around the vents and ducts methinks. Other than that, very good, liking the cockpit style!

The lighting effects on the headlights were not done in photoworks, I couldn't find a way of getting the look I wanted, so I cheated and added lens falre using photoshop!

Here's a few more of mine..

Probably is to be honest, it needs stress analysis. I'm thinking of redesigning it with a carbon tub chassis.

I need a new copy of Solidowrks now after my last one spat its dummy out and caused havoc on my hard drive. No progress until then!

I have been playing with my V350T design some the past couple days...
So far I added a 2nd element to the rear wing, altered the rear fender shape, new wheels, and replaced the crappy windshield wiper with a better one. Other possible changes include downgrading to a less powerful gas turbine, but adding a hybrid drive system to help make up for it. Also I am contemplating a shorter wheelbase version powered by a Lamborghini V12, most likely with a quad turbocharging system lol
