Rules
Overview/Car Selection
* Race will be the Fuji 1000 kilometers (228 laps) under Endurance Events in Gran Turismo mode.
* Drivers will choose an eligible Gran Turismo car and then will choose a car from the list of 2006 LMP1 entries to represent. Cars will be available on a first-claimed, first-reserved basis.

Technical/Sporting Rules
* The car must remain stock as won/purchased. Chassis stiffening, chassis refreshes and oil changes are allowed.
* LMP1 entries must add 25 kilograms of ballast to the car’s weight. (2006 LMP1 cars are running at 925 kg.)
* Stability management (ASM) must be set to 0. Traction control (TCS) may be set to 1, at the driver’s discretion, but may not be set any higher.
* Suspension, aerodynamic and gear settings may be changed at the driver’s discretion.
* Only R1 (super-hard), R2 (hard) and R3 (medium) compound tires are allowed during the qualifying and race. R4 (soft) and R5 (super-soft) compound tires may not be used.
* Standard on-line racing rules apply. Drivers must keep at least two wheels on the track/kerbs at all times (no wall-riding, grass/track cutting, etc.). Avoid unnecessary contact with the slower AI cars. NOTE: If you miss the chicane during the race, you must come to a complete stop before continuing, in order to negate any advantage from cutting the chicane. In qualifying, if you miss the chicane, the lap time is not valid.

Qualifying Procedure
* Qualifying will take place from Monday, May 1 to Friday, May 5. In Gran Turismo mode, drivers will go into World Circuits/Fuji Speedway 90’s/Practice. Drivers will post their best single lap time, including sector times, in the forum thread. Drivers may post as many qualifying laps as they wish. Different tire compounds (R1 – R3) and suspension/aerodynamic set-ups may be used for qualifying.
* After qualifying, time adjustments will be made to the race times based on qualifying position. Each position lower than pole position on the grid will be an extra half-second added to the race times.
* NOTE: If you submit a race time before the end of qualifying, your qualifying attempt is considered over and no more lap times may be posted.

Race Procedure
* Drivers are allowed unlimited practice, but may only complete the race once.
* A minimum of one hour of the race must be done in B-spec mode. (This is to simulate a real endurance race where you hand over to a co-driver.)
* All race times are due by 2359hrs./11:59p.m. US Eastern Time Sunday, May 14. Drivers must PM:
- car/car’s HP and weight/tire compound used
- race time at the end of laps 1, 57, 114, 171 and 228
- fastest race lap
- pit stops (for the race write-up)
- B-spec information: lap and race time B-spec began and ended hour stint
A small race report (spins, contact, etc.) is also requested.
Results will be posted Monday, May 15, with a race report to follow.

Prize: 750,000 cr. and 1992 Nissan R92CP (743,000 cr.)

My aim is to create a realistic racing experience for fans of Le Mans-type racing, while allowing for (and trying to foster) a fun and enjoyable experience. Any questions/comments/opinions may be offered in this thread or sent via PM. I look forward to your participation and hope you have an enjoyable experience in this race.

can i join too, i wanna take the 17. Pescarolo Sport (F) Pescarolo C60 Evo – Judd 5.0a (M) hybrid:)

Oh come on Pink, there was always going to be some race you couldn't stick to your loved Toyota... :p (There's no Skylines either, but I'll live! :D)

Why don't you give it a shot anyway, it'd do you good to try another manufacturer
I'd love to race you in an enduro like this :)

DE

I'd like to enter the 8. Audi Sport Team Joest. I ran this race in the pescarolo 6 months ago and it was great fun. I'm hoping to beat that time with the Audi.

Entry filed 4-18-06

Driver 1: Earth
Driver 2 (B-Spec): Boris Said

Real Car/team:
10. Creation Autosportif (GB) Creation CA06/H – Judd 5.0a (M) hybrid

GT4 Car:
Pescarolo Judd C60 '04

👍 👍
Thank you very much, everyone. Less than 18 hours after posting the race, we already have six entries, with hopefully a few more coming. I'm really stoked about this event.

Pink, if you want to enter, I'd be happy to allow the GT-One, since it's performance level is about on par with the BMW, Audi and Pescarolos. (Plus, it would be one more entry in a race that could use as many as possible.) But you would still have to choose a current LMP1 car to represent. (And unfortunately, Toyota's pouring their money into the black holes of motorsport...F1 and NASCAR, so no Toyota LMP. A real shame.) So, if you want to enter, we'd be glad to have you.

BTW, if anyone wants to compete, but they're not sure what the 2006 LMP1 cars look like (or if you just want to see some cool cars), here's the LMS gallery from the Istanbul race:
http://www.lmes.net/uk/istanbul/galerie.asp
There are photos of the new Creation (ex-DBA), the new Courage LC70s, the RfH Dome painted like a soccer ball and plenty of the winning Pescarolo.

How did I guess you'd take a Pescarolo, Earth? Seems me and Barrett (Hi, new teammate 👍 ) are outnumbered by Frenchmen  I'm really looking forward to this race!

DE

I'll tell you what...if Pink decides to enter, I'll allow the GT-One. But, as I said before, even if you race the Toyota, you still have to choose one of the 2006 LMP1 entries to represent.

But I was hoping that the people who chose the real-life Audis and Pescarolos would be driving the same cars in the game. (Although I wasn't going to make it mandatory and have not changed my mind.) Since there's no Zyteks, Listers, Courages, etc. in GT4, using another type of car in the game was unavoidable. But since there are Pescarolos and Audis in both the game and on the RL grid, I had hoped their drivers would choose the corresponding car.

As for me, I'm going to wait a few more days before posting my car choice, just in case someone else wants to enter.

BTW, working on a race preview that will be posted prior to qualifying.

Thanks again to everyone who has signed up. 👍

I'm curious about this 'race preview' :)

Just to clarify, in-game I'll be following the RL teams as closely as possible...
I will be driving Red Audi R8 #1

DE

:dopey: Oh, now this looks like fun. 👍 Will have to do some testing to figure out what car to run. 4 plus hours of an enduro w/ lmp cars is always a blast.
Will go with the Audi R8 (yellow) #20 The handling suits my driving better than the piscarelo
Hey Mulssane - want to team up again??? Team I-4 sounds like a good name

To DE - yea i think i did but time restraints kept me from racing with the JGTC and the F1 series, which i really wanted to run anyway.

Hmmm... DRIVEN -USA-, that name sounds familiar... Did you express interest in the ESES, by any chance? Look forward to racing you, once you decide which car to bring 👍

:dopey: Oh, now this looks like fun. 👍 Will have to do some testing to figure out what car to run. 4 plus hours of an enduro w/ lmp cars is always a blast.

This one is going to take over 5 hours. The Suzuka 1000k Mulsanne ran a few months ago took nearly 5 1/2, I'm guessing this one will take a little over 5 because the track is much faster.

Hate to break the bad news to you DE, the Judd 5.0 is the powerplant to have for this one lol. And I'm looking forward to taking down Pescarolo Sport after they let me go because of a bad showing at Laguna Seca

But boy I wish GT4 Online was out now. We could run this now, just the 6 of us

Hey,

I thought I'd run 19. Chamberlain-Synergy Motorsport (GB) Lola B06/10 – AER 3.6t (D). GT4 Car, BMW V12 LMR.

m.piedgros

Welcome, Pink_the_Floyd, DRIVEN -USA- (great to race with you again!) and m.piedgros! 👍 👍 Thanks, guys!

Pink and DRIVEN, you can use whatever LMP car you want (Audi, BMW or Pescarolo) from the game, but you have to choose one of the real-life LMP1 entries at the top to represent. If you're not sure what the cars look like or which one is which, check out the link to the real-life Le Mans Series website in post #8. It has some shots of the first LMS race of 2006 at Istanbul, with the Pescarolo, the new Courage, the new Creation, the new Lola and the Dome painted like a soccer ball. Really cool-looking cars.

DRIVEN, I would be honored to team up with you again, considering how well we did the first time (still proud to have it in my sig). Do you want to run as the two Courage Competition entries, #12 and #13? They're French but they still look good. ;)

Dark Elite: "I'm curious about this 'race preview'"
Oh, I think you'll like it. :) Remember the race report from the Suzuka race last year? Something along those lines. Already a page-and-a-half in Word, and I'm sure it will get much longer with the new entries. :D

Hey Earth, starting the trash-talking? :D

Thanks, it was a good series.

Will go with the Audi R10 5.5t #7 - Audi Sport Team Joest - Mines yellow :sly:
The pesco's just don't suit my driving style :banghead:

After a test run ran a 1'12.3xx but should come down with setup tuning and practice on the track. Mostly practice 🤬 , havn't run this track in a while :scared:

You could well be right, but I shall fight for the honour of Lord God the R8 - It has so much history, I have to race it. And I love the way it drives, too. I'd love to prove you wrong :) Time for a lot of chassis and gear fiddling if I'm at a disadvantage! 👍
It worked OK for me in the ESES :p

Besides, no offence intended to anyone, but I'd rather be sitting on German engineering at 225mph as opposed to French :sly:

Mulsanne
Remember the race report from the Suzuka race last year?
If it's anything like that, I'll love you for it :D

DE

Sorry, should have clarified that. You can choose any 2006 LMP1 car that's not already taken to represent. So any cars on the list that are not in italics are still open.

That leaves these cars still available:
No. 5 Swiss Courage
No. 6 Lister
No. 9 Creation
No. 14 RfH Dome

Race Preview

Fuji Speedway – 25 April 2006

The Le Mans Series is back in 2006 with new cars, new drivers, a new circuit and even a new name. For this round, the series visits Fuji Speedway for a 228 lap, 1000 kilometer endurance event. This race will be used by many of the teams as an important final test before the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

Last year, the series visited the Suzuka Circuit, where, although only five LMP1 cars took part, the racing was intense. Mechanical failures and accidents claimed three cars, but the two left standing, Earth in the Pescarolo and Mulsanne in the Zytek, engaged in a furious battle for the win. At the end, Earth took the checkered flag only 18 seconds ahead of Mulsanne after over five hours of hard racing.

Although not rated as highly by the drivers as Suzuka, Fuji Speedway still offers plenty of challenges in its 4.394 kilometers / 2.73 miles. The long front straightaway, where the prototypes will routinely reach speeds of over 210 mph, is followed by hard braking into the Daiichi Corner, a 1st gear right hairpin. Drivers then blast downhill toward the busiest part of the circuit, starting with the 90-degree left Suntory Corner. This quick left-right section leads back uphill into the 100R, a constantly-tightening right. Drivers stay busy as the circuit plunges back downhill into the left-handed Hair Pin. Hard acceleration takes the cars down a short straight and into the first part of the 300R, a flat-out, shallow right turn. A tricky braking area (drivers brake while still turning in the 300R) precedes the Dunlop Chicane. This tight right-left-right is narrow and tricky, so this should be one of the action spots during the race. Out of the chicane, the drivers continue through the shallow right turn of the 300R, which tightens in the Final Corner, taken at almost full throttle, and then back onto the long front straightaway to begin another lap. The high, steep kerbs are a problem at Fuji, so drivers will have to be careful where they position the cars. The circuit also has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, offering a beautiful view of snow-capped Mount Fuji.

Early favorites for the win are the Audi Sport Team Joest entries. Audi is back as a factory team for the first time since 2002. Sebring saw the debut of their new diesel-powered R10, which set a new track record in qualifying, taking the front row. One car dropped out of the race with overheating/mechanical problems, while the other cruised to the win. Audi are using the Fuji race as a final warm-up for Le Mans. Dark Elite heads the driving strength for the No. 7 car. He moves over from the ORECA team and is looking to improve on his 2005 result, which saw a late mechanical failure take him out of a chance to win. BarrettJ1971, new to the team, will drive car No. 8. With a winning car and team behind him, he is looking to compete for the win. Both are hoping to achieve the kind of results Ingolstadt has become accustomed to.
Hot on their heels will be the Pescarolo Sport equipe, Suzuka winners last year. Their C60 Hybride LMP1 with the Judd 5.0 liter GV5 engine dominated the recent Istanbul event and the team is looking to take the fight to the Audis. Team Principal Henri Pescarolo has entered both cars for the Fuji race in order to give the entire team race experience before Le Mans. ls2_297 returns to the team in the No. 16 car after a disappointing Suzuka experience last year, which saw him drop out of the race before even completing a lap. He is looking to rebound with a strong performance this year. Newcomer appie17, currently competing in the DTM championship, will drive car No. 17. Like BarrettJ1971, he knows he has a good car and a good team backing him up, and looks to be a contender for the victory.
Also looking strong is the Creation Autosportif team. New for this year is the team’s CA06/H LMP1 hybrid chassis, which they converted from their LMP675 DBA 03S. The chassis, coupled with the Judd GV5 engine, has so far proven to be quick, although reliability remains a question mark. 2005 Suzuka race winner Earth has moved from the Pescarolo Sport equipe to the Creation team, driving car No. 10. He is looking for reliability from the new machine and hoping for a repeat of last year.
Chamberlain-Synergy Motorsport has moved up to LMP1 for 2006, with the new Lola B06/10. The car is powered by a 3.6 liter turbocharged AER engine. Although the team is relatively new, team principal Hugh Chamberlain has many years of endurance racing experience. m.piedgros will pilot the yellow No. 19 entry. A driver in the Historic Group C series, he is looking to upset the Audis and Pescarolos.
Courage Competition, who missed last year’s event, returns to the series in 2006. They too have a new chassis, the LC70, considered to be one of the best-looking cars produced this year. Also new for this year is the Mugen 4.5 liter engine. Piloting the No. 12 car will be DRIVEN –USA-. This will be his first crack at a long-distance event, but he is an accomplished racing driver. As a past JGTC champion and current Formula One driver, there is no doubt he has the ability to challenge for the win. Last year’s Suzuka runner-up Mulsanne will drive car No. 13. He moves to the French team from the works Zytek seat and is hoping to bounce back from last year’s race, where mistakes cost him the win. These two drivers were championship-winning teammates in the JGTC series and will be expecting similar results at Fuji.
A late addition to the field, Zytek Engineering will mark the debut of their new 06S LMP1 hybrid at Fuji. The car is powered by an equally new 4.0 liter engine. stidriver will pilot the No. 2 entry. With victories at Spa, Nurburgring and Laguna Seca last year, plus the runner-up finish at Suzuka, the team is expecting the new car to pick up where the old car left off. This entry will certainly be one to watch, especially in qualifying.

The keys to winning this race will be turning quick, consistent lap times, good pit strategy, keeping off the high kerbing and avoiding incidents. The last one is easier said than done, as with four classes of varying speeds and abilities on the circuit, traffic will be a problem. Navigating through that traffic without sacrificing too much speed and without incident will be the difference between finishing the race on the podium or by the side of the circuit. However, in endurance racing, anything can happen, so watch this space.

Official practice and qualifying begins Monday, May 1.

:D

I'm commenting as I read here, and the paragraph describing the circuit is brilliant - a really nice touch that makes sure we all refer to the same corner names in our own reports and comments! :p

"Dark Elite... moves over from the ORECA team... late mechanical failure" Let's hope Audi's factory boys know what they're doing with 5.5 litres of highly pressurised diesel this time around! That's an original, and very interesting, background section about us all! :)

I love it... Well done! 👍 👍 👍

As we speak, I am working on ways to get my car ready for the qualification starter times... Roll on May the First! :dopey: :sly:

**Slight Bump**

You'll have to excuse the slightly slow qualifying time that I'll probably start with, because I haven't actually got an R8 on the save file I'll be using yet - once I've done two forty-minute sessions driving the DTM that'll be sorted, though :)

Just making my excuses for poor setup before I post my time tomorrow :p
