That's awesome! I wish I had the software or parts (or engineering skill ) to do that! Thoe one thing I see in that chassis which worries me is that it doesn't look all that rigid, what with only two thin chassis rails.

The software is completely free from the Lego website. It's called Lego Digital Designer.

That chassis is just the main part of the structure. My next step is to build up from that, and hopefully put in some of the functions, in modules.

It's one thing making it on the computer, and a completely different thing making it in real life. If I go wrong on that, I can just hide parts etc. Impossible in real life.

All the stuff in this car I learnt from reading, and reading.

Getting both the axles completed was a nice 15th birthday present to myself though.

:( Free, but not compatible with Linux.

Sounds pretty cool, you'll have to post more photos as the project comes along!

That's the one problem with Linux :( I find it bad enough on a Mac.

I'll keep you updated.

As seen in "your latest purchase" thread.

I got the "Back To The Future" set.

I thought I'd show show the booklet, it's got some lovely info on the guys that designed it and the film.

Really nice to see Cuusoo models being made into real sets by Lego. Nice looking set too.

This is a thread for Lego. Just saying.

I've only made slow progress on my Technic car so far, with a completely new rear axle, and a front axle that is being developed. I've also designed a 3+R sequential gearbox, and will be using an autoclutch made by a guy called Piterx on the eurobricks forum.

^Looks awesome!

I changed my LEGO car around a bit, and took some more photos:

Now, a labelled chassis diagram:

Blue is the steering system
Yellow indicates the main structure of the car
Green shows the flow of power from the motor output to the wheels, through an open differential.

I must have that.

You'll be waiting awhile. I went to the Lego store last Friday and they were completely sold out and they are sold out until September online.

Is anyone getting the Boss Crawler (42999)? I'm wondering if I'm the only one on here who gets one free from finishing in the top 100 of the competition.

I ordered my BTTF Delorean through the Lego website and they said it wouldn't ever be shipped until September. I got home yesterday and it was waiting for me, I'll probably put it together tonight.

cgg
Managed to buy a Back to the Future Delorean!

It's a great set. 👍

I couldn't believe my luck. It was in the Disney Land FL Lego shop at about 9pm, when an assistant came up to me with one of the last three they had in the warehouse. I couldn't say no.

Nice! That's a pretty rare set nowadays. Look after it.

This is my latest Lego set!

Yes, it has a Power Functions Medium motor to power the winch. It's a limited edition version of the Lego offroader 9398 which has a different body, working lights, and the winch.

Ive got the regular 9398 set. I posted pics of it on the last page. It doesn't have the winch but it can climb some extreme angles.

Wow! I never managed to get the 9398 set. For a moment I thought I was the only one with a big technic offroader. This was the winner of a competition that lego held.

Now finally, after about 4 hours of designing on Lego Digital Designer, I present my F1 Sidecar chassis.

- Hub centred steering with working handlebars
- Front and rear suspension
- Inline 4 engine, firing in the same order as the Suzuki GSX-R (1,2,3,4)
- Brake pedal and foot controlled gear shifter, but unfortunately they are only pedals. They have no real function, just appearance.

Unfortunately I also had to settle for a swing arm for the rear suspension instead of the pushrod design in real sidecars. Other than that I have tried to make it as realistic as possible, and I plan to buy the parts in the next few days to build it.

Thanks legacyMachine!

I've made a few changes to the sidecar, one of which being a colour change. Here it is now.

It all comes from the old motorbike and sidecar design. When people originally raced them, they looked very similar to those seem on the road, even today, but over time, the racing sidecars developed into completely different machines. Search F1 Sidecar into Google images and you'll see what I mean.

Are you planning on building a shell over it? The chassis design looks really cool too 👍.
