I have the 'Ultimate Collector Series' X-Wing, Tie Interceptor, Rebel Ship, and the Star Destroyer. Along with various 'mini-fig' sets including the Mellinium Falcon. And I'd like to get the new Snowspeeder for Christmas (:

When I was much younger I was into Castle Legos. I think I got every Castle Lego set produced between 1988 and 1996.

I'd like to get into Mindstorms and more Technic stuff.
 
I used to teach kids the basics of robotics using Lego Mindstorms and Robolab software....its very sophisticated stuff....

then they were bought over my Microsoft...

its pretty amazing what those little robots can do...:)
 
Did you ever do those robot wars with them? I've read about it on several websites. Supposedly there's custom code that you can download for using an IR tower connected to a computer and a Gravis compatible game pad for controlling the RCX. They play soccer and have 'table wars' and such. It's all very interesting to me (:
 
yes we did....we had battles every week, but we built our own remote controllers using the touch sensor connected to the i/p ports and some code to control it...

the machines are only held together with lego though so they break pretty easily....

i got some pics of the fighting lego-bots somewhere....wanna see?
 
Big fan of the technique(sp?) but what i do best id make my own designs of lego creations. I useally get alot of comments on them but then i get bored with them. I usally disassemble them by playing "crash test":)
 
This, and the following, are what happen when you smoke an 1/8th by yourself and watch a show on Discovery about helicopters.

you need to install a working pith, cyclic to control working swash plates so they change the angle of attack on the individual rotors blades on main rotor. andworking yaw pedals for the angle of attack on the tail rotor.

I challenge you. I bet i can do it.
 
That's the first time I've touched those things in about a year. They were attached to my old TV (Broken case, so instead of fixing it a logical way, I built a new shell out of those big lego plates), and I just brought them downstairs to take pictures. They had a little SAM site and some soldiers sitting with them too, but I didn't feel like bringing the whole scene downstairs.

I also don't believe in Technic. Blasphemy.

Technic is the best. I can build a whole complicated set in 30 min.
 
Technic is blasphemy. The only technic pieces I have came from that one blue motorcycle. My uncle got it for me one year for Christmas. It never got built. The parts were used to make steering and motor systems for REAL lego creations.

I once had to make a rubber band powered car for school. My lego car came in first by a good 10 feet because of my overly complicated rear axle.
 
Oh yeah, this just popped into mind, has anyone ever built Mecha with their Legos? I used to do that alot when I got bored. I once had something that was like a foot and a half tall. It got killed by Catzilla though. I wake up one day to the sound of something falling 4' to the floor and smashing into the ground, and see the cat running out of my room at nearly the speed of sound.

I've has that happen on stairs. (when i had a cat) it darted out and scared me and i dropped it and it tumbled down the whole flight of stairs

You may be interested in the Lego Purists then. They make kick ass stuff stricktly out of blocks.
 
I use to use them when we played "passive" RISK(the game). When you drink and play RISK with ill-tempered Scots, it's not considered wise to attack..........merely build.:rolleyes:
 
Those two sets (8880 and 8448) are the only two Supercars. The 8880 was a 1994 set and the 8448 was a 1997 or 1999 set. I got the 8880 as a gift for Christmas '94. Of course, all the pieces were lost and mixed in with other sets within a year. The set was $110 brand new back then. A few months ago, I ordered a used one from Ebay for $150. Then I ordered a used 8448 for $170 + shipping from Germany. Both are amazing, but very different. The 8880 is a more rigid, heavy design with more moving parts (4-wheel drive and steering, 4-speed tansmission, flip-up lights). The 8448 has more pieces but is a lighter design. It looks more like a sports car than does the 8880 and has a 6-speed transmission but only 2-wheel drive and steering. They are, IMHO, the two must have lego sets for people into legos AND cars.
 
I used to make cars, and send them down the stairs. Then i'd rebuild it to be stronger, and throw it down the stairs again. Oh, the hours of fun. I had two very large Rubbermaid containers (about a meter long, 2 foot wide and tall, if i remember correctly) full of Lego's.

I built a chess set out of my castle legos. It was pretty cool. I hadn't thought of risk though ... that sounds like a lot of fun.

I did too. :) (After I saw one in my "Ultimate Lego Book"... you know, that hardcover book they published some years ago?)
 
About the most impressive thing I ever did with my legos was a castle that was about 2' tall, and all the different floors were removable so you could actually play with it.

It met it's demise by my aunt putting a fan into my window, and the fan falling out. Completely destroyed it.
 
There used to be a legobuilding program on the net a while back. Cna't remember if it was through here or another site that I found it.

That's exactly what I had!!! I even did the stairs thing once or twice. The containers are still in my closet, too, and all my creations are still built. My friend and I had a miliitary base, and we used to fight wars against my brother's military base.

I built mine before, I think. I remember the book. I think a friend of mine got it. Some interesting stuff in there.
