I searched here, didn't find any working clips. I have alot for the Nordscleife but am having a hard time finding footage of Lemans racing, not ALMS...

Anyone have any sites of links to footage of any race at Le mans from any period?

http://www.gm.com/company/gm_exp_live/archived_events/lemans/downloads/CorvetteC5R_VirtualLap.mov

I found it somewhere else. But it's kinda hard to find LM videos, especially virtual laps.
I have a video in my sig that I did myself with my own camcorder, but it may be a bit "crappy".
I'll try to encode all the tape I have and host it somewhere, or try to share it through Torrent.

Edit : broken link in my sig. Try the first video on my home server : http://crash.blogdns.com/montages/page_01.htm

The two other videos are from another event, here in France.

thanks...good footage. The corvette thing was jsut what i was looking for. To bad it was a corvette though.

Your footage is pretty good too. Aboutt he same as I took at the USGP last year. Not much you can do being a spectator at a race in the stands.

I've been trying as well, but its harder for me IMO, b/c I've been actually looking for a full on 24 hours footage of the 1995 Le Mans race and '97 Le Mans race.

you can try this : le mans inboard
it's Derek BELL in the porsche 956 driving a full lap of this track 👍 👍

Sweet. Wonderful clip! Much better than a dopey corvette. :)

I am also looking for classic footage, from the 60s, or earlier.

That 'Vette video is pathetic.. hehe. I mean, the car sounds great and all, it's just that video is so damn old.. they hadn't yet figured out how to compress video for online, obviously.. and if you watch the "virtual" part of it, with the car's position, speed, G-forces, etc... they don't even match each other, much less what's happening in the video. It's just a bunch of random numbers. Nice idea... piss-poor execution, though.

Downloading the 956 video now. :)

I got'em

1 - Full lap, Cadillac LMP, year 2000 (same "file view" as the C5-R virtual lap), 4.6Mb mov
Video

2 - Full lap, Mercedes Benz CLK, 1999, driver : Christophe Bouchut, 58.5Mb wmv
video

3 - Full lap, Chrysler Viper GTS-R, 1999, driver : Olivier Beretta, 64.3Mb wmv
Video

4 - Full lap, lap record , Toyota GT-One, 1999, driver : Ukyo Katayama, 69.2Mb wmv
Video

5 - Lap portion, Porsche 911 GT1, 1997, driver : Alain Ferte, point of video : showing how hard it is to pass. 9.7Mb wmv
Video

Hope you guys enjoy these videos.
Thanks to chrisetben for hosting these files.

Great video...the 1956 footage is great!!!!

So the Le mans circuit was public road, right? Is it still? When not being raced?

Thanks. Goes straight to my heart ;) I remember I had a hard time when I looked for this kind of video too.

The Le Mans circuit was originally a public road from start to finish. But as time has passed, and changes were made to the circuit through time, now only part of it is still public road when not raced. That's why it's so bumpy, as you may have noticed in the videos.
But you can see some corner bumpers on the road when it's not raced :)

Anyway, have you ever been to Le Mans ? I only went once, to see Le Mans Classic. It's a special event : only cars that ran "Les 24 heures du Mans" before 1983 are allowed to race. And yes, you get to see some cars from 1940 and before trying to be fast on the cricuit :dunce:
But this year, I'll be there. I don't want to miss the C6-R first Le Mans :sly: And now that AUDI has left competition, maybe the podium will be a tidbit more of a battle.
