I would allow different tyre compounds as well so pitstops come in to effect. Go with racing Mediums but pit more, or go with racing hards and be slower in the corners.
Yes I know that, but I still think they had different compounds, even back then. Just don't use Racing Softs (they have too much grip).
My Classics use Racing Hards anyway.

But can I suggest something? Make a manufacturer championship, Ford vs Ferrari vs Jaguar vs Chappral or something like that. It would be alot closer to racing in the past if we have a Ford driver batteling out the championship against a Ferrari driver
Also, I used to make alot of online races with my Mark IV. If you want to balance the field, I would suggest to limit the amount of PP, so that everyone has to add ballast or decrease power.
Here's how you should set up:
pre-1970
600hp or lower
800kg or higher
Any Sports Tyres
Race cars only- Must be reconized as a race car in the name (eg. GT40 Race car '69)
La Sarthe 2009 w/ weather + Time change
60/70 laps - decided by OP
All aids off except ABS
Start time at 18:00 in game time (IRL the start time is 3:00PM)
Time value- 10 (this is how fast compared to real time that time goes by in the game)
Grid start with False check
Penalty of any sort (severity to be decided by OP)
I like the sound of this, and i've not even raced online before.
If some cars are slower, what's the problem? Some were/are slower in real life too, but get a few jags and you have yourself a race. Also people will be of different abilities (which is why i will need the FASTEST car!)
Also I think some of the additional suggestions such as time speed or whatever you call it are cool, but will people stop trying to change other stuff the OP already set out? If you want different tyres or different tuning rules or whatnot, arrange your own event. OP is going for authenticity, additional tunings to make the cars more equal is not authentic. And racing hard tyres seem perfect
I might not be able to do later than say 2pm gmt start though this Sunday. Can do anytime the following week though.
Add a list of names to keep track of who's wanting to race perhaps? And msg a mod/admin to move this to correct section for more sign-ups?? There seems to be enough interest in here so far..
