LE MANS, France, June 18 (Reuters) - Audi swept to a ground-breaking victory in Le Mans on Sunday to become the first manufacturer to win the 24 Hours race with a diesel-powered car.

Italy's Emanuele Pirro took the chequered flag as he and Germany's Frank Biela and Marco Werner won by four laps after completing a record total of 380 laps of the La Sarthe circuit.

The all-French Pescarolo Sport team that included double world champion Sebastien Loeb and Formula One driver Franck Montagny finished second.

C6R came fourth overall.

Fastest lap was by the R10, posting a 3'31'211 lap. Thats 4.5 secs faster than the fastest competitor. The C6Rs fastest lap was 3:51.851. Aston martins fastest was 3:50.770, over a second faster but the vettes had the reliability on theyre side, and no collisions with R10's.

For much of the race, though, the Astons and the Corvettes were posting times within a few tenths of one another. It's why the #64 had so much trouble gaining ground after the #009 got ahead of it.
 
Anyone notice how different that front bumper is on the TT above compared to a stock TT?
 
You're not supposed to put results in thread titles in the motorsport forums. You could spoil it for people who haven't seen the race but were plannning to.
 
I'm absolutely impressed! Audi won Lemans with a Diesel which was developed within 200 days.

Congratulation AUDI! Germany rules :D
