OK so we all know GT3 as well as it's predesscors had great physics, graphics, sound effects, gameplay and replay value. But another thing i've noticed with the series, is it's fantastic soundtracks. Don't know if this is the right forum to place this thread and I haven't done a search, but I'd like to get your guys ideas on what music you'd like to see added to GT4.

I myself am a huge Heavy Metal/Hard Rock/Electronica/Metal fan so i'd like to see a majority of those added. Please when adding your opinion of songs you'd like to see, added, place the band name first, the song title second, (seperate with a hyphen) and genre in parentheses (this purpose is if your band is not mainstream or is lesser known) so we may sample your songs, or get and idea of where you're coming from.

Here's a list i've compiled in the last 10 min's or so of songs i'd like to see added into a ST. That way I won't have to shut off the music and simply play from my CD or MP3 playa's hehe...

Please TRY to keep your list limited to about 30-50 songs, (I have 51 atm) or we'll all get a headache. Keep it realistic too, like no polka songs, or new age or chant stuff that we will never see. Songs approx. 2-6 mins in length, as well. PD would never put in a marathon trance or rock song over 7 mins.

Rammstein - Adios (Heavy Metal/Metal Core) (the name in the song says it all hehe..)
Powerman 5000 - Ultra Mega (Metal) (Supernova was good on GT3 and I think this song is better than that one so this would be a welcome choice although i'm not a PM 5000 fan)

Prodigy - breathe
Iggy Pop - wild one
Iggy Pop - passenger :) hehe
Helloween - sole survivor

etc, cant be bothered adding more!

btw some good songs there HG.

I wonder if with the invention of a PS2 hDD, you can do what I do on some Xbox games and use your own sound tracks? That would be a fantastic feature to have.

*Yawns...* Sound engines get repetitive to quickly. If you guys got nothing to contribute to the thread then don't bring it up please.

Nice list there kev. I have to agree on the GT3 ST it was pretty weak. IMHO, Daiki Kasho saved it.

If there the CORRECT sounds for each car I dont think it would be boring.

That's true, but still it gets repetitive and tedious regardless. I know having a kickass song on amp's my adrenaline 10 fold when driving. I get very pumped up and my blood pumps, and I get chills when a good song comes on. I seem to focus more and relax more, when I don't have to focus so hard on listening for that right time to downshift/upshift, enter and exit a turn and reach that apex. All that seems to dissappear when I just drive and got a slamming tune on. As a whole I do much better when I got a good tune on, as opposed to simple ambient effects, RPM rev's, tire chirps, engine blowoffs, pneumatics, etc. etc.

I only need 1 song:

The sound of my engine.

Agreed, in GT3 and GT Concept I turn off the music cept for the replays:)

And if I really want music I just turn on the radio or my own tracks in the background:)

So you listen to the hairdryer engines on GT3??? WOWZ! Gt4 seems to have MUCH better engine sounds then the sad ones on GT3 thankfully.

Music out, detailed textures and so on in.

Play music on your stereo, and for "music-video" replay option - it's just an technical show-off, not a real purpose of it for anything.

Although, GN'R "Welcome to the Jungle" would be a hell-of-tha-title-song.

Sorry but this is a pretty contrite comment. I mean, you can only add so much detailed texture to a game, and the music only takes up a fraction of the disk space. I know people want more AI and all that but they can't make it ungodly simply by removing other portions of the game (like Tire smoke, and a jukebox).

It would be really nice if they had a radio/jukebox function in game so if you are getting tired of a song (that's getting repeated more often then not in shuffle), then they should give you an option to change it on the fly during the game.

Sorry dude, but if you'd know how much DVD disc space music is really occupiing, you and I would have nothing to talk about.

Yust try to rip GT3 or GTC on the CD from DVD, and you'll soon realise that music-tracks are the main disc-space eater. And that is the case with all the games packed with music.

Believe.

Well I don't know what they did in GT.

But, surely it would'nt be hard to compress the music into mp3 format or the like? That would take hardly any space on a dvd. :)

As I have said, I am more of a techno/dance, and sometimes jazzy person when it comes to music. The best of both worlds can be in Ridge Racer Type 4. "Naked Glow" and "Movin' in Circles" are two examples.

If the PS2 wanted to allow people to import their own music from MP3 device or computer to the PS2, you can be able to hear your own music. Now I'm not going to say "trade music," because that would have copyright issues. Now, say you know how to make MOD music or ScreamTracker tunes and wanted to hear them in GT4, that would be interesting. Then again, I don't even know if America has the PS2 hard drive thing here.

I think such an idea would be exceptional because even if you hate the music in the game, you can at least listen to your own. Of course, if you don't want music (sometimes, even I don't want any), then disregard my comments. But if you are, it would be cool to suggest this.

It barely takes up any space on the disc for the songs...dosnt it?

An MP3 isnt usualy more then 5mb!!!! And this is a DVD disc we're talking about, in Sony's point of view its great value to shove in the songs and take a crumb of the cake to make their game alot more presentable to the majority of the public:)

I'd like "the decline" from NOFX to be featured in the Soundtrack. That's a pretty long song. But a good one.

If they do include alot of song they should do it like in Fifa2004, where you have the option to choose which song you want to to listen and which ones you dont want too, this way if we dont like certain songs we could just "un check" them, Another thing would be if GT4 uses the HDD seeing how GT4 is coming out after the HDD maybe they might use it, would be a great step for Sony to use and let us use our own music in GT4, to me that would be the smarter way to do things, just use a few songs and let use be able to add to that uploading our own music to GT4, this was its a huge win-win situation.....

Sorry for the newbish question but what's the HDD? Hard Drive Device? May someone send me a link please? I guess it's the answer to X-Box's HD?

Yeah it is, apart from its bigger...but you gotta pay for it :P I won't be buying one. Rip off, should have been in the console in the first place. £20 for 8mb memory cards....

Yeah Sony should reduce price of memory cards, I bought a USB pen drive with 128mb for £28 inc p&p.

PS2 Memorycards should be no more than 10 quid these days. :banghead:

best offer so far is two 8mb cards for 30 quid. But I only want 1!

Check and uncheck songs? You can do that in GT3 last time I checked it. Also, you could listen to other songs in your own playlist. You can hear some of the other songs especially in long races and endurances (there is a difference, you know).

I guess since GT3 had some old-school rock, here is some fairly old school techno picks. And by the way, Techtronic is not in mind for "old school techno," as you'll see below:

JOHNBM01'S TECHNO/DANCE IDEAS:
Prodigy - Firestarter
" - Serial Killer
" - Smack my b*tch up
Underworld - Pearl's Girl
Moby - Oil 1
David Bowie - Dead Man Walking
Jennifer Lopez - Waiting for Tonight
Crystal Method - Busy Child
Daft Punk - Around the World
" - One More Time
Future Sound of London - We have explosive
Plump DJs - Big Groovy ****ker
Fluke - Atom Bomb

Now, here would be a list of Japanese remixes...

Exile - Fly Away (remixed)
Ayumi Hamasaki - Kanariya (Power Mix)
Misia - Into the Light
HAL - The Starry Sky (D-Z Air Raid Mix)

Hey, everyone has their style of music and I'm no different.

Hmm interesting list there. But Jennifer Lopez, Dead Man walking, and Around the World in a GT game? To me that's wierd but like you said it's personal style. I like Dead Man Walking and Around the World (hate J.LO). But to me they seem out of place in a racing game. I need something more intense, and furious. Prodigy is just to technoey for me although i'm probably like there biggest fan. Hyperspeed would be cool though.

J Lo in any game would be annoying imo. J Lo ANYWHERE is annoying.

I agree thank god Bennifer is now over, and we can get on with our lives. LOL!

Oh wait there's still that Kutcher vs. Moore thing going on. DOH!
