Lets make a Soundtrack for GT4!

But as I said, there is the chance of song remixes. So think about any songs that might get the remix treatment and be a GT4 excludsive mix. Remember "Are you gonna go my way?" There is also Snoop Dogg with his "Dogg's Turismo 3." So, don't count out the possiblity of remixes and exclusive tracks. Aren't you glad you have a PS2? :) j/k

Yea remixes would be cool, but I didnt really like Snoop Dogg in GT3, even thought it was diffrent from the other racing games, id rather have, techno, rock type deal something that could really race to and get you all hyped up about, Rap and such I say shouldnt be in but I guess you could add some for the people who like it anyways...

Ya the Rap was kinda stupid in GT3 but Raekwon was decent enough. Rockbox - Run DMC would be alright I guess. I loved listening to that and The Message by Grandmaster Flash in GTA: VC.

Still I'd very much prefer the techno/rock/metal approach.

I used to like listening to music in replays, now that's kind of worn off.
I only feel like listening to music while doing a Test Course race, even then it's strictly Trance for me. Works quite well I might add.

A reason why techno music is usually a good choice in racing games is because it kind of gets you into a game. Some say that some techno is generic because these "no-name" songs lack the energy and emotion of a heated race. The Wipeout series of games knows emotion and energy with its upbeat techno tracks. GT4 won't be entirely techno, but you can bet that the techno will exude emotion and get you in the racing mood.

Rock is a bit of a different story. You can imagine a classic rock tune as you rev up your vintage muscle car down the freeway. Rock music hasn't really been one of my favorite types of music, but rock transforms a heated race into a hardcore rock tune.

If GT4 has more jazzy music, then believe it or not, jazzy music will get you into a relaxed mood of driving. Of course, relaxed is NEVER the way to go, so it's usually used in the menu screens. I think more jazzy music will relax you before a race. Just the right melody will clear your mind of your worries prior to wanting to race a GT game.

This is a totally different approach to music, I know. But I kind of thought about the IMPACT of certain music, not so much the music itself. Like, listen to Ridge Racer V's techno tracks. They may be a bit cheesy, but the song from the Mad Capsule Markets called "Drftdvl" actually gets you into the mood of racing and racing fast.

Well I dunno the menu music in GT games drives me nuts

JohnBM01 I couldn't have said it better myself. You completely exemplified what music is all about in racing. Techno music at it's core is the perfect music for racing because it puts you in a trance type level in so many ways and zones you in. Really you hit an adrenalal high, as you 'juices flow.' I couldn't imagine racing without having some kind of music going. I love listening to engine sounds I really do it's awesome. But that's not the end all be all for me. I still need my techno and metal.

Ok, first off, I listed all the songs that I agree with:

Squarepusher - Dedicated Loop
Soundgarden - Jesus Christ Pose (Hard Rock) (probably my fave Hard Rock song of all time)

Fluke - Atom Bomb (Techno)
Adam F - F Jam (Drum N' Bass/Jazz/House)
Adam F - Circles (Drum N' Bass/Trance)

Lamb of God - Ruin (metal)
Motograter - Suffocate (metal)

Also I think there should be some slow stuff too, for when you just wanna cruise:

Coldplay - Clocks
Coldplay - Politik
Coldplay - The Scientist
Coldplay - Trouble
Radiohead - Idioteque (I love this song)
Radiohead - Street Spirit (fade)
Vast - Pretty when you cry

I think that'll do for now.
;)

Whoa! Finally someone who has heard of VAST--the most underrated artist today.

I'd throw Gates of Rock 'N' Roll by VAST in there, too.

They've done more than one album? I was pulling my hair out (well, given it's length and sparsity, that's obviously not literally) trying to find a piece that was used to promote 'The Beach' (the song was 'Touched').

VAST is actually only one man--Jon Crosby. And he's released two albums - Visual Audio Sensory Theater, and Music For People.

He's awesome. 👍

Good call, I should have added that. ;)

While I'm at it, I might as well list all the VAST (on their self titled album):

Here
Touched
Dirty Hole
Pretty When You Cry
I'm Dying
Flames
Temptation
Three Doors
The Niles Edge
Somwhere Else To Be
11
You

First off, Initial D is a series, not a type of music. The type of music is called Eurobeat, and it is complete crap. ;)

As I have said, I am more of a techno/dance, and sometimes jazzy person when it comes to music. The best of both worlds can be in Ridge Racer Type 4. "Naked Glow" and "Movin' in Circles" are two examples.
Word. And tracks like "Hurricane Hub" and "Move Me" also. Ridge Racers have probably the best sountracks that fit so good into game that i always listen to them instead of my custom music... well Wipeout is in the same league also. I always find it funny that rock has been a major part of GT's soundtrack (at least in EU) - all my mates who are deep into cars and tuning like trance - I've always had the feeling that rock and bikes go better together. Not that i don't like rock... it just doesn't seem to fit racing games so good IMO.

I'd like to see: BT, Yahel, Ferry Corsten, Sasha, Tiesto, PPK, Tilt, Thrillseekers etc.

Yeah, well...that's like, my opinion... prob not happening. And as far as having custom tracks on HDD - i'd probably not bother transferring music from my PC... not unless they allow u to customize GT throughly - like every single menu screen etc. - u know eg. being able to customize "Finish" music and all... i liked GT1's "Finish" music the best.

PS: As for eurodance like that in Initial D (which is not as good as original tracks from that era) - it might now sound cheap sometimes, but if u were around when it was at peak and liked it - u still prob enjoy it. It would be funny to hear Look Twice or Solid Base in GT4 though

If there are those long boring races on test track how about a special soundtrack for them:-

The Darkness : stuck in a rut
The Sugerbabes : Round Round
Boney M : Brown girl in the ring
ABBA : On and on and on

aaaggghh this is gettin desperate, any more suggestions?

ZZ Top--Legs
ATB-Dont Stop
and a song i dont know who did it or what its called but a radio Station called Galaxy 105-106FM usually plays it between 10.30-11.30GMT

Anything off galaxy FM (music for people who like "bling bling") must instantly not be allowed on GT4, I don't want GT4 ruined with tacky moronic dance and R & B. I want the same type of music as GT1, as it's music most people like, and it's not pathetic. Rock is the music of fast cars and ummm going fast.

:D

Those feeder songs off GT1 were really good though, shame feeder suck now :(

The Sugerbabes : Round Round
Boney M : Brown girl in the ring
ABBA : On and on and on

I swear, that would make me beat my ps2 with a sledge hammer

btw is it me of is cobragt going for some kind of thread locking record?

I agree with most of the songs on this thread...though there's always room for suggestions...right?

Oakenfold - Ready, Steady, Go
Jet
Definately some Zepplin
More Oakenfold
ATB

....ah.....I'll get back to you on more but definately Ready, Steady, Go should be on there.

man this was a very productive 'Kazaa' day.. ;)

This may have been stated already, but HDD support for music is a MUST. God how the GT3 soundtrack is getting repeditive now!

HDD music is the biz. sorry to mention it, but pgr2 has the ace thing , where when you press in the analog stick in, a little radio pops down, and u can skip tracks and alter the volume, while still racing, even works with HDD tracks. Very cool. Be good if GT4 had something like this along with HDD music :)

Here's a quick post.

I heard this theme before, so I have no problem with wanting to hear it again. It is the (I guess) Japan-only theme "Moon Over the Castle." So how about "Moon Over the Castle" for GT4 in the states and the world?
