Level-up B-spec drive

when you have a new driver you just have to win one race for a level-up. when you gain more exp-points then needed for the level up, does the rest of the exp-points disappear?

Exp carries over. I've had a driver go from level 0 to level 9 after just one race.

Grand Valley 300km Endurance Race with the three other drivers all being around level 20.
He only lasted about 4 laps before his strength was completely drained though.
