Today has cemented the fact that I will never buy a Nissan product.
I drove down to Denver today to have my IS300 serviced. While I was in Denver, I had planned to go to the Infinity dealership to take a look at the new G35 coupe. (Damn you Jordan.
)
So, I drop off my car at the dealership, and I was then provided with a loaner car. A ES300, (ugliest car ever, but hey, give a Lexus get a Lexus.) Being a bit unfamiliar with the Denver area, I asked my Lexus service representative how to get to the Infinity dealership. He kindly provided me directions to the competition. Even printed me a map. 👍
Now I'm off to the Infinity dealership. Upon my arrival there, I was kindly greeted by a sales representative. I mentioned to him that I might be interested in purchasing a G35 Coupe and I would like to take a look at one. Great he say's. We go out to the lot, pick a color that I liked (red) and he disappeared to get the key's to it. Upon his return, he starts showing me the features of the car. Pop's the hood and shows me the engine. Blah, blah, blah. We get into the car, where he put's the key into the ignition and fires her up. We go over some of the interior features blah, blah, blah. I put the car into reverse and the guy flips out! Turns out that Infinity has a policy that will not let anyone test drive the cars.
What the hell kind of policy is that? I test drove my IS300 before I bought it. My brother got to test drive his Acura CL Type-S, my mother test drove her Ford Explorer, why the hell can't I test drive the G35? The salesman goes on to say that only "serious" buyers are allowed to drive the car and that's only after a substantial amount of money has been put down on the car. How the hell am I supposed to know if I want to buy a car if I've never had a chance to drive it?
So I come to grips with the fact that I'm not going to get to drive this car, so me and the salesman start debating Nissans policy. We eventually get into the aftermarket products and he immediately states that adding any aftermarket products, even Nismo products, will immediately void the warranty.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that it's illegal for the dealership to state that anything a customer does to their vehicle will void the warranty. That if any problems occur with the vehicle the dealership would have to actually prove that the aftermarket part caused the problem. This can actually go to court, but who the hell is gonna take it that far, and if you did, who's gonna win? The team of lawyers from Nissan or you?
Anyway.
So, with a sour taste in my mouth, I leave the Infinity dealership. Shortly there after, Lexus calls me up. I'm hoping that there going to tell me my car is finished. Well, that's not the case. Evidently there are some issues with my car that are going to take a few days to fix.
Crap, I ask him how much this little project is gonna run me. He replies "nothing, it's warranty work, you will only be responsible for the cost of the service."
Wait a minute, I have a bunch of aftermarket parts on my car. A intake, a exhaust and a chip. The Lexus dealership is quite aware that these parts are on my car, so why on Earth are they not telling me that my warranty is void and that I'm going to have to foot the entire bill?
Why? Cus Lexus is frickin cool that's why.
So, Lexus tells me to keep the loaner car and go home. Which is incidentally 100 miles away from the dealership. The service rep goes on to tell me he will contact me when my car is ready and has already offered to drop off my car to me, in Vail, which happens to be 100 miles out of his way. "That's frickin incredible" I say because I have to frigging work all week and there is no way I was going to be able to make it to Denver for quite some time. Splendid!
Other than the fact that there is something wrong with my car and that I'm stuck driving a ugly car, I'm pretty damn happy!
So, Lexus = YAY! 👍 👍 and Infinity = BOO! 👎 👎
Here end's the rant.
