Can somebody correct me? Can't you have 1 bronze and one gold and the rest silver. Since I want to get a prize in the licenses test (all silver) , does it have to be all silver?
It would be hard then....

All silver = All of them silver - or better.

I also don't like the license test, maybe i do like them with the dfp i hope. Did i hear somewhere that you also get a car in GT4 if you have all bronze??!
I like the pace car in GT4 :)(I don't have GT4 yet) but I think that when I get stuck on that license, things might change :indiff:

B.T.W. I think that that last S license in GT3 was the worst ever too, I just spinned out of control when I tried to exit that corner just before the tunnel began
👎

And one more thing...!
Do you need to get all bronze to get the first prize car int the license test?
And will they appear in your garage?

Since we're giving opinions here, I'll throw out mine :D :

Generally I'll hit the licenses first off for several reasons: a) To win a free car I can race with so I can use all my starting money on mods, and b) to get myself accustomed to the feel of the game engine.

How far I go with the tests is dependent upon my performance. From past experiences, I will generally get all Silvers with a spattering of Golds after several attempts at each test. If I end up with a bronze somewhere, then I'll hit that test until I get a Silver before I move on. I don't feel like a Silver is too unrealistic to strive for, as I think it's setup to be obtainable by the average player. I certainly won't accept being anything less than "average".

After accomplishing all Silvers, I will then go back and go for all Golds if possible. I will go through each license seperately. Meaning, I will focus on the B and do all I can there without too much headache before moving on to the next set.

I won't spend an hour on a single test at first unless I'm knocking on the door of the Gold. You know how it is....just that ONE damn turn where you brake too soon every time. You're only 0.003 sec away from Gold, and one clean run would do it.

I've found there's always a few tests that are going to give me a hassle, and it's pretty easy for me to tell which ones. If it's difficult for me to figure out where I'm losing time, then I know I'm in for a long haul. These tests will be left at Silver until a later date. The only time I'll put more time into a test (at the beginning) is if it's the only silver (or Bronze) left before I make a clean sweep of the license. If I have several that are stumping me, then I'll move on.

Now after I've played the game to my content for awhile, then I'll come back and try my hand at the tests again. It's a personal thing with the tests. In my mind, the game makers use the Gold to say, "This is where we feel the above average drivers should be. It's an attainable time." This is a personal challenge to me, and is a way for me to measure myself to see if my driving is up to what I want it to be.

I can honestly say I can't remember being more excited about winning a race, as I have been in getting a Gold on certain tests. Winning races don't stick in my mind very much from past games. I don't really have any memory of them, as I don't recall any of them being particularly hard. But there were several occasions where I jumped up and gave theTV screen the bird while laughing (and cussing it in triumph!) as I FINALLY got a Gold that I may have been trying to get for days! Now THAT is fun. At least it is to me. :D

I've never used a wheel, so perhaps once I do (I plan on one for GT4) then these tests won't be such a big deal, I don't know. I don't know if the wheel makes them easier or not, but up to this point, they've been a very enjoyable part of th egame for me. Frustrating? Hell yeah! But SO much more satisfying when you finally achieve you goal.

If I read your post Lethalclem you do a lot of attempts and I know in GT3 the days counts every time you do a license attempt. I don't know it is the same in GT4 but I don't like it to lose a lot of days. Because how more days you passed in game how more influence it has in 2nd hand cars section

Yes, I guess you did...

Thanks for the list

I can't challenge you because I don't have the game. Still waiting for the PAL version that hopefully will come in March

Well then, no offence, but why did you come out with that totally made-up piece of non-knowledge?

To quote neon_duke: Bad information is bad, mmmkay? If you don't know the answer, don't give the answer.

Its like prologue, the car you did the test with you get

I think that would be a bit silly, because then you would have 16 cars just for doing the B licence.

Anyway, time for a grandpa simpson style story about licences.

Licences, ahh licences. Well back in old 1998 when I was still at school, I sucked at driving and could only achive gold on all but one licence test in the B licence in GT1. It was that terrible one at deep forest in the del sol. I come back to the game this year and I still can't do it, so I still suck.
GT2 comes allong in 1999 and I can still only get silvers and a few golds so i'm inconsistent and I bet if I tried now I couldn't get all golds.
GT3 comes allong in 2001 and it's the same story barring the B licence which I gold after hours and hours of practice on that skyline trial mountain test, then I can't be arsed with the rest of the licences.
GTC is too easy, all golds way to easy.
Now GT4P comes allong and somehow I manage all golds with a bit of effort and then a bit of irritation with the EVO 8 MR at Tskuba but with a little help (Ghost) from Manchesters finest GT player (Mr P) I manage to pass that one.
And now i'm taking on GT4, ahh GT4 good new GT4. Strangely enough it's been a breeze (in comparison) to get golds, although i'm slowly working through the licences i've got gold on a b and iB with only some minor irritation.

I think what i've learned is not to treat the licences like 'Oh no not the licences I hate them they irritate me' and to treat them like 'Oh wow licences! This will be a challenge and also let me try out some of the cars and tracks I havent driven in/on'

Ps it also helps you drive better.

agree when you approach something in a positive way you are more likely to enjoy it and give your best effort. That and the kid who blew threw GT4P license tests and got gold like nothing!!! I have to redeem my skills with GT4 I'm not washed out yet!!!

I don't recall 2nd hand car selection being much of an issue in GT3, but since it's in GT4 then you may have a good point. But, I don't see any reason why I can't keep checking the used car section periodically (even if I don't purchase anything) just in case there's something there I may want while I'm working on my tests.

So every time you've earned a license in GT4, you will, no mather what, earn a car with it....I like that, only if it are descent cars though not to fast but not to slow, that gives you a good start if you want to move on from beginner to amateur (or something like that in GT4)
👍 :) :D

If you just get it instead of buying a crappy car and saving money for a good one is much more fun and you extend the playtime as well.

Ha yeah that kid is awesome, that Capachino test isn't that hard though to be honest. Actually I saved my loathing for the coffee breaks (cones are only to be knocked down on long enurance races and only that!) the only one I had fun with in Prologue was the autocross type one with the S2000. All the other ones irritated the hell out of me and it's a good thing they are just fun things because i'd probably punch a hole in my TV trying to gold them. But that's just me.

How I hate those coffee breaks, I mean maybe if they were called tea breaks in the pal version I might like em.

Yes, i'm wierd.

It just isn't GT if you don't have a crappy used car at the start, well ok my first car in GT4 was an S14 Silvia but you know what I mean.

No your not weird your just english HEHE joking. They have to give it a name coffee, thea break. For me it's more candy or ice cream break :)

In gt3 I started with the PT Cruiser :p

Yeah, I hope they change it to tea when you select the English language in the PAL version.

Well, yeah you can't start off with a crappy used car in GT3 because it's the only GT game not to have used car sections. Although you can buy a crappy new car! Like the PT Cruiser, or Daihatsu thingymebob.

Ps, don't diss the Trueno TAKUMIDORIFTOLOLOLOL Ja Ne ^_^

Yeah that's true,
With GT3 had such a stupid problem when you "switched" from beginner mode to amateur mode, you suddenly had to have cars MUCH faster than yours, I still remember that "Italian Avant Garde", you just had to get a Pagani Zonda Racecar, I raced day after day to discover wich damn race I had to win in order to win the Italian ****!! I finally gave up and, honestly I haven't got that racecar EVER cause it's just to much boring effort to win it (I've always raced for the prize cars, the race itself was just the stupid obstacle in between, hope that will change for me in GT4) I hope that car you get for completing the license tests give you such an advantage so I won't go thruw that hel again :guilty:

thats true. Or that final race in Pro leageu with the f1 cars. It are 10 races from 30 laps!!! That superboring to do. I more prefer an endurance race then.

although i haven't got many golds in GT4, I find that the bronze times are very easy compared to previous GT games. I passed my first 32 license tests the FIRST GO every time and even got gold on one of the snow courses on my very first attempt. I think the gold was a bit of a fluke, but generally speaking I think they made it easier for people who simply wanted to pass and harder for people who want to get all gold.

Does that make any sense? :P

yes it makes sense. They just made the bronze so that the real beginners can play also every race and the pro's can have gold and as a bonus the cars.

Sounds like they got the system down better for the licences. I have the same goals as most here it seems. I get all bronze, then play the game with my crappy used car, I think its alot more fun to work your way up from the bottom rung of the ladder and make it to the top with a garage full of awsome cars. After I get so far or after a long break from GT or if I feel my skills need refining then I run the licences over again with silver and golds in mind.

I can't say I'm happy about getting cars for bronze though cause I will be tempted to use them in the begining races in stead of getting somthing out of the used car lot, and getting a junker from the used car lot was always more fun to me.

I also like the licences from the stand point they let you test drive different cars with out having to waste alot of money or alot of time.

Seriously the bronze licence prizes aren't that good. the b licence you get a VW Lupo for bronze, some lame FF Pontiac concept for silver and some other car for gold.

Yeah, getting all gold on the S license gets you a 90-year-old Model T Ford...

I'm sorry, but that's not enough incentive to waste a hundred hours of my life heh

I dont normally bother with getting golds untill I am really bored with the game anyway, some of those test drain your brain if you do them 100 times in a row!

The S-16 license test with the Sauber around Nurburgring... it took me a couple hours to do that. I got to a point where one of my friends just said, "dude... walk away. Come back in a couple of hours and you'll get it first go... it happens every time"

Eventually with the tests you hit a brick wall and have to take a break because you're just not getting anywhere. You come back later and have more success.

I didn't take his advice though :P I kept going and about 30 minutes after he said that I passed the test heh.

The time to get is 5.47.5 or something isn't it, how much did you beat it by?

Do you reackon you could improve your lap time? I have seen the demo video of it and that guy driving makes it look easy.
