Why can we have a live chat like a irc chat on sumthin like that damn that would be nice or somthin else like a GTPlanet Messenger That whould be so cool

A live chat might be a possibility in the future, but I want to spend a bit more time figuring out exactly what would be the best method to go about it.

Unfortunately, that chat room had to be removed. It is no longer in service.

I'm sure IRC would be the best way. Someone could just register a channel on a smallish server. Or you could set up an IRC server, though I'm sure it's a pain in the ass.

Actually, it's not that difficult. Not much different from setting up a web server. And irc.gtplanet.net would be pretty neat (:

Do the Community ones stay open permanently? Someone could set that up?

you could use irc.chat-solutions.org and get a java applet, they run a good service there.

When we had that one chatrrom it was awesome! :thumbsup: But peeps abused it. It will hopefully be up again soon.

Or how about only having the chat room open when a moderator is online?

Or howabout just make an IRC room and make me an op? I've operated chat rooms before, it isn't quite the same as operating a forum. Actually I think someone here should make an applet and A room, it isn't always great to have the forum control the chatroom.
