Well, it does, but not completely.

Regardless of how I start WLM the msnmsgr.exe process will pop up in Task Manager (generally at about 60 CPU and 15,000K mem usage - ouch), but the application itself won't actually show up anywhere.

The notification tray icon doesn't appear, and there's no sign that the program's trying to start. About the only indication I get that I've *started* WLM is that the mouse gets all laggy. :grumpy: (sometimes the whole computer will crash if I do something as trivial as opening shortcut properties while the process is still active...)

I've done some searching with Google, and it seems that resetting routers solves this problem.

I'm a 56k user, and last I checked dial-up modems aren't routers. :dunce: :indiff:

I repaired the install all of half an hour ago, but no luck. I've managed to get the program to start properly maybe three times in the past two weeks - I tried five times today, every attempt resulted in the computer crashing. :grumpy:

Details:
WLM version 8.5.1302.1018
1.3 GHz Athlon
128MB RAM (page filing set to 2GB max to partially overcome this)
Win XP SP2 version 5.1

Help?

I've come across issues like this before, but not your particular one, unfortunetely.

My brother's MSN sometimes wouldn't load at all (needed a reboot) or it would randomly freeze after a minute of using it. I got him to use Web Messenger for a while or use Pidgen, and after a while he used the full MSN again and it didn't have any problems. It fixed itself, which is very odd.

Did you try just completely removing the program and downloading a new file off the internet?

Or just use something like Trillian.
