Do the LMP cars in the Lemans series and the 24 hours of Lemans run traction control? I can't find any answer on the web. I have found that the ALMS doesn't allow it and have read the sporting regs. for lemans and find no mention of it...other than one line about traction control with the engine being "allowed"...

yes/no?

I don't have any concrete information or links on the topic, but I know the ALMS and Le Mans Endurance series rules are based on the 24 heures du Mans rules, except a bit more stricter (like regarding car dimensions).

I'm pretty certain that the prototypes cannot have traction control for the 24 heures du Mans. Partly because I'm sure I've heard it/read it somewhere, and partly because they all fall under the branch of the Le Mans Organization, and I don't think they'd create two series with contradictory rules.

Edit: after searching around a bit, I'm honestly not sure. From a '98 press release, I've read that the Toyota GT-One, Nissan LMP, and Mercedes LMP all had traction control. Also saw a little blurb about the GTS Corvettes having it in 2001-ish. But a lot has changed since then, and I don't know for sure.

I think we've been searching the same stuff...PITA huh?

I couldn't find a definate yes/no answer for the 2004 or 2005 rules. I did find a definate no for the ALMS for 04 and 05 though....

For what I know, I think traction control is banned like in Formula One. Of course, anyone like "The359" or someone can set me straight if I'm wrong.

TC is still in F1. F1 I know well, have followed it for years. Lemans and sportscars I've only recently gotten interested in.

Traction Control is banned in all LMP and GT classes in ALMS, LMES, LeMans, and FIA GT.

However traction control is allowed on Daytona Prototypes in Grand Am.

They must have posted this rulebook within the past few days, because I didn't see it before. From the PDF 2005 rulebook:

It's allowed in the 2011 regs for LMP1+2 classes providing that it "acts solely upon the engine".

Traction control is banned in F1, there are no driver aids, traction control has been banned since 2008.

It was allowed in Formula 1 when he made that post - six years ago. I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding why this thread was revived, so I'm going to close it.
