I always imagine where the original tracks could be located. For example, I always imagine that the GT Arena is located somewhere in Portugal, maybe Lisboa or that the High Speed Ring is a racetrack in Canada.

Maybe you could share your thoughts about the location of the original tracks? :)

Here's a list of what we've found out so far

Code:
High Speed Ring - ?
Cape Ring - Japan
Autumn Ring - maybe Italy?
Deep Forest Raceway - Indianola, Iowa, Usa
Grand Valley Speedway - Europe / Asia / USA?
Eiger Nordwand - Switzerland
Trial Mountain Circuit - USA
Kart Space - Asia?
Special Stage Route X - Japan
Apricot Hill Raceway - Japan
Gran Turismo Arena - Asia
Matterhorn - Switzerland
Special Stage Route 5 - Japan
Special Stage Route 7 - Japan

Trial Mountain would be somewhere in North America I'm guessing.

Somewhere in the Rockies or the Appalachians.

Of all original tracks, only Grand Valley, Apricot Hill, Deep Forest, High Speed Ring and Autumn Ring would be viable tracks in real life. Grand Valley though would be really expensive just to make the tunnels.

They could just make the same layout without tunnels.

GT Arena is more of a 'rip' of that tiny stadium somewhere in Asia that they use for 'World Drift Series'

That's what I'm seeing at least. then SSR7 is obviously a rip of a fictional Wangan Highway, most likely again somewhere in Asia

Well, in GT2's national races, cars raced on a track from the country they were from. I remember Deep Forest holding the German races, and I think Grand Valley was used for Japanese races. This makes sense, because all the other ones matched up (Laguna Seca for American, etc).

Some quick investigations...
Grand Valley should be somewhere in Europe, in GT3 was featured in the European Championship, with Rome circuit, Monaco and SSR5.
Trial Mountain should be located in USA (American Championship, always GT3).
Apricot Hill (and also SSR11), for the same reason is a Japanese circuit.
But, both American and Japanese Championship have the super speedway (not the Motegi one) ficional track...
The theory of the SSR5 and SSR11 connection may not be true.
The extra proof of the SSR5 being not a Japanese circuit are the billboard with some fictional cities such as aniot, atankt and rimnoat, not written with ideogram, but those are just my humble theories.

I just made a list of all original tracks and their possible location :)

According to Gran Turismo wikia SSR5 and SSR7 are connected (there is a billboard on SSR5 with 'Route 7' written on it), I will check it tomorrow.
So if SSR5 is an Euro circuit considering my previous theory then SSR7 is Euro too.

The Wangan is a real highway, in Greater Tokyo, Japan.

It goes from Yokohama to Ichikawa on the "Bayshore Route".

But if SSR7 is a copy of Wangan Highway, its impossible to be in Europe. Beside SSR7 doesn't look like a european track at all.

All the special stages are based on Japan.

Notice that you also drive on the left on SSR7, as do the Japanese.

Even more evidence SSR7 is based on the Wangan, here is a picture from the Shuto Expressway
(Shuto Kōsokudōro Wangan-sen)

Notice how the street lamps and their spacing is almost identical, and similar towers being lit up with light.

Also, the elevation looks quite accurate.

Edit: SSR5 street signs, compared to real street signs in japan.

Yeah, I agree with you, all Special Stages are probably Japanese.
So, if SSR5 is an Euro track the connection between those wouldn't exist, but it does, probably because both are located in Japan.
Still wondering why the heck the circuit was in the European Championship in Gt3 then! :p

I guess it was for euro cars not tracks.

Also, check my above post! ;)
