But isn't NASCAR only in America? So only Americans like that sport, where as F1 and WRC is across the globe and loved by millions?
And F1/WRC are not really all that loved in America, yet we still got a car celebrating Vettel's accomplishment. The point I'm making is that the cars are already in the game and it's not that hard to just say "Hey! Carl Edwards won the NASCAR championship! Here's his car!" Who cares if you like NASCAR, you bought the game, there are NASCAR's in the game, Carl Edwards wins and you get a free one! If Loeb wins the WRC then everyone (even the people who don't care/don't follow WRC) get pleasantly surprised when his C4 shows up in their garage.
I'm not looking for an argument but I just think if you was to ask 100 people if they would rather see WRC or NASCAR, I think the majority would say WRC as it travels all around the world giving the opportunity to everyone to see it,
where as NASCAR is restricted to just America, but I understand you host those events in massive arenas that get packed out with hundreds of thousands of people
I don't mean this disrespectfully but WRC has a variety of different cars and classes, where as everyone in NASCAR has pretty much the same car with a different badge on the front
While I'm sure a lot of people would say WRC (myself included). You seem to make it sound like it's difficult to do both. Why can't we do both? Why not even include Super GT while we're at it? It's just giving away a free car that's already in the game.
They do not have a GT5 special event named after them ...
No, though there is the Jeff Gordon NASCAR special event, though sadly Gordon isn't one of the two contending for the championship now. I don't see how not having a special event suddenly denies you from having your car that's already in the game given away for free...
No that is just the point, we want the Loeb DS3, his C4 is fantastic, but he drives the DS3 now.
I agree, the new WRC cars would be nice, but that's not going to happen. Hence the X2010 being given away instead of the X2011... or an actual Red Bull Formula car (but we all know, or at least all
should know, why that wont happen.)
NASCAR may* be* a bigger brand than WRC, but tell me this.... Which is more entertaining?
Well, as someone who respects the level of difficulty that it takes to master the art of rally driving and as a car guy who likes small turbo-charged hatchbacks, I'll say that WRC is certainly aesthetically interesting.
In terms of actual competition, NASCAR racing door to door for 300+ laps in complete view of the spectators for 36 weeks out of the year sinks the WRC ship.
NASCAR for its same mundane (removed for opinion) group of cars driving on an oval, or WRC, where drivers push themselves and their cars to the absolute limit, powersliding blind into corners with tree's, rock's, mud, spectators etc etc etc just waiting around the bend?
Well when you put it like that WRC sounds amazing! Now allow me to re-write that with a NASCAR-bias so you can read what I just read.
WRC for it's souped up econo-hatches and brightly colored liveries whining down a back road where no one can see them, or NASCAR, where drivers compete based on skill alone since their cars are identical, at speeds that can range from 130mph average on a slow track to almost 200mph on faster tracks for three straight hours?
See what I did there?
I was at the WRC in Ireland in 2007, I was cold, and wet for many hours BUT it was the greatest fun I have ever had in my life!!
So I understand where the bias and opinion are coming from. In order for me to respect this, I would really want to hear a counter point along the lines of " And I went to a NASCAR race at Kentucky the other year and couldn't even get into the track because the parking was so mal-organized!"
Forgive me if I sounded harsh, I want you to understand that I love WRC and NASCAR equally and bare no ill-will towards any of you. I just think we're beating to death something that boils down to simply "Give away X driver's X car for free because he won X championship, since the car is already in the game." It shouldn't matter what series or what racing format they participate in... what matters is PD embracing their licenses and celebrating a driver's victory by educating everyone on who he is using the car he drives.
I apologize for starting a small NASCAR vs. WRC war and I wish to end it with common sense.
