One small issue though. When I'm playing GT3 with the 90 degree mode that the game is programmed for, the wheel bouces back and forth if I ever let go of it.

Like, it'll turn left about 5 degrees, then right 5 degrees and keep repeating this with increasing pace until the cars stops.

The force feedback is pretty strong, so my arms tend to get tired, and whenever I try to rest my arms, say, on a straight stretch, the wheel goes mental.

Wtf?

I believe that happens to everyone. I don't think it's a problem. Wasn't the old GT Force like that too?

Come to think of it, it probably happens in any car with a 180 degree steering circumfrence.
GT4 just needs to save the calibration so you don't have to calibrate 180 degrees in each direction (instead of 90) every time you start the game..

I've got the wheel. I love it! I wasn't an avid GT3 fan until I got this wheel, and now it's all I play. I've had it for about 2 months now.

For those asking how easy/hard it is to get used to it...after about 5 hours straight I pretty much had it down. I'll never touch the DS2 again. In fact sometimes it's not even plugged in!

Although, I never used any other wheel before this one. So I can't really compare. But from what I read about the GT3 wheel, this GT4 wheel is way better.

For those asking how to use it (lap, table): I have a folding chair and a little TV tray that I'm using. here are some pics of my set up (that is not the chair I use anymore) DON'T MIND THE MESS! LOL:

Just got mine - local shop had them 20% off. Love it - craps all over the Gt Force wheel I had, and I loved that thing.

I also bought R Racing Evolution which as I get further into I'll post my thoughts on. It's not graphically up to GT3 but there's some nice touches, and it actually drives pretty well through the DFP, using 100% feedback (which fixed my initial whinge about the game, namely that the steering was too light).

Whoa - I've tried the DFP in 900 degree mode now, just running an MX-5 at Midfield. You have to use the gear stick instead of the paddles - with all the wheel twirling it's simply too hard to get to them!

It's much more difficult with full lock - turn in obviously requires more turning of the wheel - but unwinding the lock when the car turns sideways, particularly into the left hander into the tunnel, man, it's almost impossible!

Here's a fact: Driving force pro is the best wheel there is. (in my opinion)

900degrees is a lot of fun, and drifting gets athletic with constant turns.

Anyways... to see what the thing is made of, i took it apart :D
The pedals have very simple and durable build, i don't think it'll break ever. The right pedal has a single stiff spring and the left pedal has 2 springs, a silver one and a black one that starts to effect about halfway, making the brake bedal stiffer, thus making hasty breaking easier.

The wheel has a mechanical lock for 180/900 degrees. The lock is switched when the wheel is in center position. The lock has dampers that work when the wheel is near the right/leftmost point. This makes the wheel feel more realistic, since it doesn't just clank on when you steer it to the max.

Overall, the mechanics seem bomb-broof in all ways.

Ok...
This wheel has screwed up 3 times in the past 5 hours.

First time, the force feedback cut out in the middle of a race.
Reset game.

Second time, both the wheel and the pedals stop functioning. For no reason, just cuts out. In the game, however, the gas was fully pressed, except I couldn't steer or brake or anything. The X button on the DS2 wouldn't function either until I removed and reinserted the USB cable for the wheel.

Then the same thing happens like an hour later.

Am I alone?

I've had it happen a couple times. Hopefully it's just a slight compatibilty bug and that will never happen with GT4. But yeah, it gets annoying, you just gotta deal with it. Hop up and unplug/replug it again. Quicker you do it, less time you'll lose! haha

its happened to me once in like a month but then i dont play my playstation religiously so maybe its only because i'm not logging as many hours as you :/

There might be some bs in the usb connector.

Oh and, sometimes the force shakes the table so bad that it just loosens the connectors, either on the wheel or ps2.

Oh man dont tell me is screws up on you all the time! Im going to get that wheel soon!!! GRRRR
Have you found a resolution to your problem, is it fixed?

sweet, i have the exact same table. chair is different though, but I gotta get a nicer one, the one I'm using now is too hard.

I brought up this thread because I had the same issue. The wheel and pedals just locked up and didn't work once in a while. I was about ready to freak and bring the wheel back to Best Buy. Kind of glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem.
But it still bugs me that this problem exists, luckily I haven't had it happen to me.

But I've noticed that the same thing happened with my DS2 before. The gas just wouldn't respond once in a while.

Im having as major issue with my DFP 900 degree thing. In GT4 the accelarator wont respond fully. Sometimes it might be just 5% of the throttle not working other times its like 20-40%!!!! Its about 6 months old and has been well taken car of. Any one had this problem? Ive tried checking all the connections and everythings all good it must be something internal. Ive lost my warranty and instructions so i cant take it back im hoping its a well known issue :nervous:

I have an issue with my DFP with GT3. I don't know if it's a setting somewhere or what... but when I step on the accel... the cars won't go. The revs go up. That's it.
To make the cars go forward... I have step on the brakes.
I can't figure out what's wrong.

DFP works fine with GT4, though.

I've had similiar problems with my DFP and DS2 :( It was usually after I crashed into a wall/mountain, the controller would vibrate like crazy and it wouldn't respond. I had to reboot the PS2. Did you find a solution to the problem?

Lol, I have the same table man...I know this is a GT3 forum, but I use the wheel for GT4. I haven't had any problems. It feels REALLY life-like to the point of it feeling like you're really driving the car. It's sooooo nice.

-I copy and pasted my other thread-

I got an issue with my DFP and GT3

I am asking this, because I bought one for GT4, but tried it with GT3. For some reason, the cars dont move. The menu buttons work, but the car gets stuck in some sort of neutral way. I can shift, and the tachometer registers movement as I see the car reving up, but the car just sits there. Also, when the race begins, everything is normal until I take control of the car. I feel a sudden bump, and I lose control with the car.
