I'm pretty sure GT4 will solve that issue. Maybe just make it so steering wheel is only sensitive 300 degrees or something in the race cars? shouldn't be too hard for them to implement. :)

The McLaren F1's gearstick is on the RIGHT, like in most single seat race cars.

Also PD have confirmed you can't swap the sides of the shifter.
 
It's on the left mate, like all the other British cars. The F1 is not a single seat car either, it has 3 seats.

It IS on the right, as I said. I also didn't say anything about the McLaren being a single seater. :rolleyes:
 
Either nobody saw it, nobody knows or nobody wants to answer, but I'll ask again...

Does anyone have any idea when the DFP will be released in Hong Kong? I haven't had time to go and look yet.

I didn't reply agressivley, and I didn't feel the need to do research, I've sat in one and the stick was on the left. That link won't work, it's my connection playing up though but I would presume thats either a racing one or one that was built for sale outside of the UK.
 
Or possibly McLaren would put the stick whichever side you want... After all, paying £625,000 for a car means you've got the money to be fussy.

Aston Martin will happily change the driving position - left or right - on any car for you. One customer they rebuilt a DB5 for moved to Germany, so they made it LHD for him. Then he moved back, so they converted it back to RHD...

Now THAT'S after-sales service.


Edit - The cameraman in that photo deserves an award for bravery. The speedo needle is pointing all the way over to the right - must be 220mph plus. What a brave guy... Unless... the photo was reversed? Not to say that there are no "LHD" McLaren F1's (with the gear lever mounted on the right-hand side)...

Talking to daan, and comparing pictures and 1:18 models... It appears most McLaren F1's have a right-hand mounted gear lever.

So the verdict on this one is, officially *shrugs*
 
Got to say, the interiors of these things look shocking...

(and you're a line over maximum sig length... Hehehe... :D)

It IS an odd picture. That speedo/tacho needle is ALL the way to the right, yet the right-hand gear lever and right-hand accelerator tally with the other pics, models and sense...
 
Whats wrong with the accelerator being on the right.

Ive driven both left and right hand drive cars in many countries and the accelerator is always on the right.

P.S the Speedo reads all the way round the dial, perhaps thats just where 0 happens to be.
 
The rev counter in the other picture is pointing to 0. You can see the 0 is on the right hand side

The gear lever will be on the right hand side (unless it can be placed either side when the car is put together).

It's on the right in all the pics I've found.
As has been pointed out, single seaters have the gear lever on the right. (I also know the F1 is not a single seater)
Racing cars, in general, are LHD, therefore the gear lever is on the right, and racing drivers are used to using a gear lever with their right hand, no matter their nationality.

daan is technically correct - the best kind of correct... I just went back to bed for 2 hours :D I got knocked out playing hockey (field) on Saturday and I guess I'm still running on "zombie"...

I saw the accelerator, it arrived in my head as "clutch", but then left my brain as accelerator again...

Left-hand drive Vauxhalls? Wow... Like I needed any more reason not to drive one... :D

As I mentioned above the Australian release date is December 12 - so I imagine it would be before Xmas for the US. The Australian price is $AUS299.95 - so at a guess the US price will be somewhere between $US150-200.

im hoping logitech will have a secret surprise gift packed in with support of GT4 crew :)

Not all, it must have been an option, I've sat in one at a motorshow which had the stick on the left. Daan's right about the single seaters and racecars generally being LHD and having the stick to the right.

Just thinking on that - I wonder if it'll come bundled with GT4 Prologue?
 
For £130.00, I think it will be quite good value for money.
 
I just checked the status on my order and it seems they're processing a god damn joystick instead of my wheel.

It hasn't shipped yet, and I sent them and e-mail and everything, but I am not impressed.
