Well received my RS Shifter H-pattern.

I just unpacked to judge the quality of the set... no time to proceed with the assembly on my rig.

I was surprised by the high-quality of the set and more particularly of the clamp of the clamp. Its weight is substantial and it exudes robustness.

For those who, like me, have questions about mounting on a profile rig (I saw some examples, here and elsewhere), I saw an assembly with a 90-degree rotation of the clamp and a fixation on the front face of the shifter.

I will check if these distances correspond to a standard profile.

Having not thought of this solution, I ordered two supports from Track Racer (not yet shipped to date). They are compatible with 40 mm profiles and the holes are provided for the template of the two Logitech shifters.

I think this will allow me two mounting options: side by side or aligned one behind the other... and probably to play on two mounting heights.

Will remain to find a natural position in VR.

I am also waiting for a handrake RS, which suffered a brief stock shortage in Europe... it seems that the logistics will be a bit longer for this one.

Yep. One thing to note is that the pedals perform their own calibration when you plug them in, so an unplug/replug is always a good first pass to solve any issues. Just remember to not touch any of the pedals for the first few seconds after plugging them in.

Getting more used to the shifter and really enjoying it. Today I drove the F50 on the Nordschleife, really nice dream combo you get to use all the gears throughout the lap.

Hopefully all except reverse 😂 but same. I’m really enjoying it. Especially in the power pack.

I'll start with a little background on manual shifting. When I was younger, I was all "MANUAL OR NOTHING! RAWR!". After around 30+- years of driving everything manual, from sequential motorcycles, three on the trees, 4 and 5 on the floors and everything between there and split diff 10-18 gears, the romance had more than worn off. Manual transmissions meant work, not fun. Even after getting the G27 and its shifter, back in the GT 5&6 days, the quirkiness of the shift mechanics in game, which I adapted to fairly well, made it less than face splitting grin fun. It became a thing I did to justify having the gear to do it with.

I'm here to tell you, the "romance" of the manual transmission is back with a vengeance. I'm starting to think I shoulda' got my Camaro with a manual. I ain't tradin' it in. The thought is still there, nonetheless.

The first batch of laps I ran in game was my go to grind race in my original grind car, which has almost 9K miles now on it's clock, mostly from those grind runs at Tokyo. I was very familiar with how that car acts under full manual action, since that's how I always drove it, with my G29 and G-Pro (once I got that G-Pro adapter anyway). The positive action of the RS-H Shifter builds so much confidence in it, when I fumbled a shift, I knew it was me, not the shifter and immediately took necessary steps to get the gear I wanted engaged. While it doesn't have that full on mechanical feel of a true manual transmission, it's ever so much closer to how one behaves. The last batch of laps I did with it was in last night's SNAIL league practice in the Ford Focus RS '18. I'm happy to find out they've maintained how each car behaves a bit differently when using clutch and h-gate shifting to operate the transmissions. I was dissappointed when I discovered one of the other cars we ran in practice did not have H-gate shifting and I had to go back to using the paddles.

In case anyone wonders, I run the clutch range in game from 8%-82%. That keeps clutch engage/disengage fairly in the middle of a real life tight/loose clutch pedal action. A tight clutch is one that engages almost as soon as you pull your foot off the floor, loose is one that doesn't engage the clutch until the pedal is at or near the top of its travel. Loose clutches suck donkey balls and will wear a leg out. Some folks may have heard these referred to as short or tall clutches. It's my thinking, to get a short clutch feel, run the clutch range to something like 50%-100%, tall would be something around 5%-50% on the range. Haven't tested that hypothesis and won't bother, I like it where it's at now.

I've put about 300miles in with the RS H-Gate in GT7 and am about to try out that RS Round wheel in FS25. I may get brave enough to even run that game in full on clutch+h-gate manual. I tried the round wheel, briefly, in GT7 and did not like how close the button rack is to the wheel rim. My thumb does not fit in that "slot", even without gloves. I'm not installing the "brody" knob on it yet though. For anyone who doesn't know what a "brody" is, it's what we used to call drifting/donuts/sliding around, on any surface. I don't know where the word came from, it's what we used to call it, many, many moons ago.

At any rate, I'm really liking the RS H gate shifter. It's orders of magnitude better than that old G27 shifter. The centering spring is much stronger than I expected and will take some getting used to/breaking in before I feel "natural" with it. It actually needs firm and steady hand placement consideration to get it in the outside gear slots. I didn't actually weigh the parts, I would reckon though, the shifter handle and knob + the mounting bracket weighs more than the shifter body. The knob feels good in the hand and, at present, wouldn't dream of finding a custom unit to replace it.

Well done @LOGI_Rich and LogitechG, bringing this to market. and thank you!
