Hi everyone,

Really need some help over here!:nervous:
Cannot decide by myself which wheel should I buy...
Logitech G27 or the Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S (with standard pedals)?
Price diference between both is 100 Euros (G27 it's the cheapest). Primary use system is a PS3. (no xbox)

I've been searching the web for the past few days for reviews and opinions...
G27 lacks the sequential shifter. Fanatec H shifter is not the best. G27 is better for drift games. So many diferent reviews that I'm confused!

Can someone help me out? I've never tried any of these wheels.
Thank you very much in advance.

Regards.

Well what you should ask yourself is, "What do "I" want from my Steering Wheel?". Because you are asking a very general question and you need to be more specific on what you want.

Hi nick09,

sorry for not being more specific. Well, I want a wheel to play games on my PS3. Games like Need For Speed Shift, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo 5(when it comes out).
I really want a cool wheel for that. But of course spending the less money possible.
I've seen 2 possibilities, the Logitech G27 or the Fanatec Porsche 911 S wheel. I can get a G27 for about 280 Euros and a Fanatec for 380 Euros.
Considering the price and also the possibilities that I'm looking for, what's the best choice?

Thanks.

Well you could get a G25 and save money that way. This video here can pretty much sum up the difference between the G25 and the G27. The G25's shifter can be modded for a few dollars to feel better when you shift and there are easy tutorials on how to do it.

Most of the extra cost of the Fanatec wheel is taken up by the amount microsoft charge for the xbox functionality. If your only going to use it for PS3 I would go with the G27. The standard G27 pedals are better than the standard Fanatec ones and why pay all that extra money for a feature you will never use. The only way I would suggest the Fanatec is if you went with the clubsport pedals. I own them and they are fantastic, have really improved my braking consistency.

Why are you making it so hard on yourself? You already know which wheel to get but you're "dazzled" by the Turbo S. You don't use an Xbox360 and you don't want to spend too much money on a wheel. There's your answer! Simple, get the G27. Why pay extra money on a wheel of which you're not going to use it's primary function, namely Xbox360 compatibiltiy.
+ the Turbo S has crappy pedals! At least the G27 has good pedals.
I'm sorry but I don't understand the problem, because there isn't one.

Or wait a little longer and get the Fanatec Carrera wheel, which is also a decent wheel (so I've heard/read). This wheel is much cheaper, but has the same standard crappy pedals as the Turbo S, you so badly want.

Thank you very much for the replies. :)
The only think that G27 is missing is the sequential shifter. That's why I'm so confused at the moment. But reading your comments, I did get a cleaner picture. G27 all the way...!👍
Fanatec are great, but wheel with clubsport pedals are just to much for me! And like kikie and PzR Slim wrote, standard pedals are crap.
Do you think that the G27 is good to play/drive the upcoming GT5 rally/nascar cars? (without the sequential shifter)

Thanks.

You can make your own DIY sequential shifter. The only problem is that void the warranty of the G27 if you do so. And you can always use the paddle shifters behind the wheel.

And you can always upgrade your G27 pedals with a Load Cell thing.

The G27 is a good choice!

👍

I Would just buy the g25, If you have never bought a wheel, I would get neither, I would borrow one from my friend and see how I like it. Why? Because the first week of my purchase of the driving force gt was absolute remorse for me. I wasn't good at it, Nor enjoyed it. I was about to sell it, But than I chose to practice, and I got better.
But taking that the g25 is cheaper (And in my opinion alot more worth the money) Its a much better buy than the g27, Just because there isn't any significant changes on the g27, Infact, Significant Downgrades (Sequential shifting).
Good Luck!

If you can find a G25 buy that one. I have one and completely satisfied.

I know you can still buy G25 online in Canada for $250.00, not sure about Europe though.

Turbo s is more versitile wheel with HW settings. Also drifting is good with drift mode on. G27 shifter is better. Accelerator is more accurate on turbo s because more travel. Brake is better on logitech and clutch is about the same. Of course fanatec pedals look cheap and they are but function quite fine. Turbo S is fanatec's offcial console wheel so the main function is not only 360 gaming :)

These are the best wheels but best value is likely new fanatec carrera.(or used g25)

I read your review strtgng before opening a new topic. Nice review btw! :) But I think that the DFGT cannot be compared to the G27. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Can't find any G25 out here or over Europe. Every online store I try it shows "Not available" or doesn't even show up. I found it on one store at 370Euros!!! Being this, G25 is no longer an option.
G27 is about 100Euros cheaper then the Fanatec 911 Turbo S. Fanatec Carrera is not yet available for purchase. :(
I've never tried a wheel in PS3, but I still have an old MS sidewinder with Force feedback connected to PC and I really like the fun!:D On PS3 can't be that different... also this G27 must be a lot better than my old sidewinder wheel, right?
And I really want a wheel and don't want to wait... because if always waiting for the next release or future release, I will never buy one!

Just a brief summary of the pros and cons of both wheels (based on this forum and what I've seen on the web):

-G27
--Pros:
---Pedals
---H Shifter
---Racing look wheel
---Shift paddles

--Cons:
---Sequential shifter

-Fanatec 911 S:
--Pros:
---Porsche wheel (beautiful)
---Possible upgrades (such as clubsport pedals...)
---Sequential shifts
---Wireless

--Cons:
---Crap pedals
---Crap shifts
---Upgrades to expensive
---Shift paddles

I think i'll be well served with the G27... (crossing fingers):P

Yeah - really either wheel will probably be fine. Both have pros/cons. No matter what - it is a blast to drive/race using a wheel. Enjoy your G27!

People saying fanatec shifters and pedals are crap are clearly not even driven with one. I like fanatec shifter more than g25 but g27 is a bit better. Yes i am freaking faster with turbo s pedals but of course that does not matter as they are crap.

Don't get me wrong Raitziger, but I've just gather info from what I've read over the web. I'm no Logitech fan boy.:) If I had the money, I would wait for the new Fanatec Carrera wheel with Clubsport pedals and I would buy the Clubsport shifters and handbrake (when available)!:D The new wheel with all the clubsport upgrades are a must! I now that probably the Carrera wheel with the standard parts are going to be the same price that I'm currently going to pay for the G27, but like I said previously, only if I could buy the clubsport upgrades (+500Euros).

Yeah, but very expensive! Standard G27 must be really cool and much better than my old sidewinder.:P
Yes but that is at least $100+ to upgrade to the load cell brake, or 300+ for perfect pedal.
That's to much for me, 300Euros is the max price that I'm willing to pay for a wheel.
Also I need to buy something like the Wheel Stand.

I bet it will!:D But not for the price I'm willing to pay...With the extras that make Fanatec rocking :D (clubsport upgrades) I'm almost sure about that. But congrats Fanatec, you have excellent products!👍
If I had the money to buy it, I would wait, you bet!

But you probably know how wifes are... when it comes to spend money with "games" like she says! lol
I must buy now, because I've got the "approval", or else...! lol

That $100 and $300 quote is to install a load cell brake for the g27/25 not Fanatec. sorry if that is confusing, it looks like you misread my post??

Any chance that announcement will have some info about the clubsport shifter / handbrake??? ;) pwitty plz sir!!!1

Fanatec...

Is it true that the new Carrera wheel isn't compatible with the clubsport pedals?

You mentioned that you want to spend 300 €uro so I am willing to take that bet :)
:)You're right about that. But 300Euros for the new Carrera with clubsport pedals and the 2 shifters (H and sequential)? Please let me know... I've just ordered my G27 last Monday and I might be able to cancel it!

Update:
G27 has arrived! It's beautiful!
I'm just going to mount it and give it a try. I'll post my impressions here then.
Thank you all guys!

I was going to get a Fanatec Turbo S wheel with the clubsport pack then canceled once I found out it was only going to be the wheel and the pedals. I don't really understand their pricing scheme and within the week that I was deciding the price went up $50 on one of the wheels that came with everything minus the good pedals.

In the end I decided to go with the G27 setup because it was $200 cheaper.
