I've gone and searched and read through the articles about the steering wheels, and i just want to be sure im getting the correct one. Everyone calls it the Logitech GT-Force but the only ones i can find are

Logitech® Driving Force™ (blue one)
Logitech® Formula™ Force GP (red one)

I think the formula force (red one) is the one to get but can some one just confirm if it is.

Well.. If you want the one with the "PS2" buttons.. best go w/ Driving Force.. but really, there's not much difference... Personally I'd go with MOMO racing... heard good stuff from it...
 
Go with the Momo, but it is a bit more expensive than the others.
 
Well besides the MOMO because ive looked everywhere for it and i can't find it. So which is the better one between Formla Force(red one) or Driving Force(blue one)
 
Get the Driving Force, it's the wheel which I got. It works on Gran Turismo 3 great and loads of other driving games. It has pc compatablility too if you get the Logitech Wingman driviers. The wheel features a d-pad, gear paddels, and all the ps2 buttons (l3 and r3 are the paddels), pedals are included.
 
No, the Momo wheel is the best one on the market at the moment(not the one listed here)...It cost about 450$ AU...:eek: I don't think it's on sale anymore though.
 
The advantage of buying a Driving Force is that you will not need to use a controller to navigate the menus etc as the wheel features a Directional Pad and all the PS2 Buttons. Also the Driving Force works well with all PC games that I have tried it with; the wingman software is extremely easy to configure (although I think the software supports 90% of Logitech wheels). The only problem with the Driving Force is that the Gear Paddels are analogue. If you don't attach the Pedals you can still have analogue acceleration and braking via the wheel, although if you have the Pedals attached you will not be able to change gear if the wheel is turned around 3/4 of the way; hoewever after a few races you get used to it and this problem does not seem to affect the wheel when used on a PC. The Driving Force can be clamped to a table and it also comes with it's on stand if you prefer to play with the wheel in your lap. The Formula Force is the same as GT Force but without the Grand Turismo 3 branding. The Driving Force is the upgraded wheel from the Formula Force and shouldn't cost too much more. I'd recommend that if you are getting a wheel, to buy the Driving Force.
 
The ACT Labs Force RS. Unfortunately it doesn't have seamless compatibility with all driving games on the ps2.

The best wheel to get is the driving force IF you want to play a bunch of games on the ps2. There are many games the logitech ff gp, gt force, and momo wheels won't work with.

Safest bet is the driving force, and if you have a problem with the shifters not working, you can DIY a stick shifter, or rewire a couple of buttons off the controller to the paddles ;)
 
Oh, some of those DIY kits look so amazing (they make cockpits and stuff like that...replica gearboxes and stuff...:eek: )
 
Dodge....90% of those kits are from geeks who have no friends outside of the PC and enjoy wasting their lives away on fruit roll ups and star trek T-shirts
 
Yeh I guess, but there are some that are actually manufactured by companies...:) They also looks very sweet...:D

I reckon it would be a great DIY project to make one, but I don't have any room in my house to put one, plus I don't make any money (too young to have a job) so I can't really get supplies anywhere.
 
I bought one..The VRC..Virtual Racing Chassis..I love it.....Best GT investment so far....And I've already preordered my GT-4 Logitec Pro Package from "Game Stop" So I'll get GT-4 the day it arrives, and the new..yes 900 degree logitec force feedback pimped out steering wheel!...

Shinez, what're you going to do with your old wheel after you get your new one? Think I could talk it outta you for cheap? 8-P (I can wait that long for cheap... I so poor)
 
Lol...Chances are mine will be broken by the time I get the new one..I still can't get use to only 300 degree's of motion..so I end up slamming it from left to right...
 
Damnation. I go out and buy a driving force wheel, knowing about the problems with the paddles, and able to fix that... and now in GT3, the calibration centreing doesn't work! GRRRR.

Now every time i drive the centre is off to the right a bit, no matter how i calibrate the wheel!

*blows up the logitech headquaters*

Well I would NEVER have bought the Driving Force, you should have gotten the Wingman FF. I've got two of them and never have problems, but people with the Driving Force always have problems and the not-being-able-to-shift-down while steering is really going to hold you back, as well as the 75% braking problem. If you can still trade it, trade it back for the Wingman FF.

However, the centering problem can be fixed easily enough. At the logitech website there is a little tool, then you plug in the wheel into the USB of your PC, and with this tool you can recentre the wheel. After that, at least your centering problems are history.

The MoMo Racing is probably one of the best wheels for GT3 but they've discontinued it in favor of the MoMo Force, which however isn't compatible with GT3. Stores which still had the MoMo Racing have often reverted to its original expensive price, knowing there is still demand for it. However, the MoMo Racing only works with GT3 and with hardly any other games.

The Wingman FF, since it is equal to the GT Force, is the best all purpose wheel for the PS2 as it was the wheel GT3 was designed for and it is sort of a factory standard for any driving game being produced.
 
I've never had any centering problems with the Driving Force, GT automatically calibrates it at the game bootup if you have the powersupply attached. Try cleaning the USB port of your PS2 [edit I just noticed Arwin posted a solution, that should work]. Also as far as I have discovered there is no 75% braking problem, it's a 75% shifting problem but it's not disasterous, there are a few solutions:

1) Shift down after centering the wheel, staying in a higher gear will give you greater traction througout the corner.
2) Use engine braking, gear down into the required gear before the corner, this will help you slow down faster.
3) Gear down the with wheel turned less than 75%. Think of it this way, when the 900degree wheel comes out and you have to steer hand over hand it is unlikely that you will gear down with the wheel turned at 75% anyway. Also being in a gear too low with high revs makes the car slide a lot.
4) Search Google for several solutions how to physically fix the problem.
